November 18, 201212 yr Author comment_5520338 Kerry is upset with Percy Pringle for calling him a coward. Percy seems to be in the right here even though they are building to a heel turn. Kerry's whole defense for not taking on Borne as soon as he challenged him was that Borne wanted to fight and Kerry wanted to wrestle. The next Kerry/Borne match will be a lumberjack match. Kerry is his typical coherent self here, but his delivery does seem sincere and I believe he doesn't like Matt Borne one bit.
November 20, 201212 yr comment_5520512 Yeah, Kerry is almost Hogan-esque in his complaining about how everyone is against him. Pringle comes off as incredibly reasonable in his defense of his viewpoint. On the other hand, even if it was unintentional it's a nice way of building to a turn without giving it away. "Matt Borne either leaves...or he stays." How Zen. "But if he stays, he'll be injured." Like the similarly coherent Jimmy Snuka, Kerry does have an undeniable presence on the stick even when he isn't making sense. I don't see how it's possible that the Texas-raised Kerry and Oregon-raised Borne could have been longtime friends, but Kerry does sound sincere.
December 13, 201212 yr comment_5522506 Kerry promos have mostly turned into the sad category for me and I cant be bothered or amused at the weird shit he says. He vows revenger for borne which I anticpate given how great their last brawl was.
December 26, 201212 yr comment_5523963 Kerry and his eyes looked like he took a bump of crack before he hit the ring.
January 20, 201312 yr comment_5529091 Pringle doing his best to make sense to Kerry what wrestling is about. Kerry doesn’t feel like you should fight your friends. Chris Von Erich has been taking his beating but Matt Borne very tough. Percy lets us know that there will be lumberjacks around the ring.
February 12, 201312 yr comment_5534861 Kerry does a great job conveying anger towards Matt Borne. I think when cutting an angry promo, it's not necessarily important to be coherent, since the main goal is to show that you're upset, and when people are upset, they don't think about what they say, they trip over their words, and they don't always make sense. Unfortunately, even during his regular promos, Kerry doesn't think about what he is saying, trips over his words, and doesn't make sense, but there is at least palpable anger in what he's saying. And they are definitely teasing the hell out of a Percy Pringle heel turn, perhaps during the lumberjack match.
January 5, 201510 yr comment_5648282 If Kerry had tripped over his words, etc. like Cox said, just in this promo, it wold have been one thing, but he's done it so often it has no dramatic impact. More than that, he visibly stops himself and moves his lips at least three times during the promo, as if someone had scripted him before he came out and he was desperately trying to remember what came next. In short, it's almost no different from any other promo he's cut this year, and that's not a good thing. As I said in an earlier thread, Vince's rigid scripting (which I think he was doing with certain guys by then) and use of a green screen can only help. I didn't think Percy came off expressly as a heel here, but it's tough to apply the rules of professional wrestling to what you think of as a close friendship, so he came off as a bit of a jerk regardless. Obviously there's more to come here.
April 13, 20169 yr comment_5741805 I thought Percy was the real star here. Very reasonable and honestly I thought Kerry was ready for a heel turn.
December 31, 20168 yr comment_5780849 Kerry’s not happy with Percy calling him a coward. He says how he’s always been one of his biggest supporters and where does he get off saying that he’s afraid to fight and hasn’t been fair with the title? Percy says that he never called him a coward, but this is professional wrestling and when you’re the champion, you defend it against whomever they tell you too and he never did that. Kerry says how Matt Borne wanted to fight him and he didn’t want to fight a friend. If he wanted to wrestle him, he would’ve wrestled him straight away, but now he has given him a reason to fight him. Percy points out that if he had just done this in the first place, what happened to Chris would have never happened at all. Kerry says how his brother Chris has been degraded. It was his first time on TV, but now he’s sat at home in the ranch and won’t leave the house. Matt Borne has got a fight on his hands and he’ll take his head off in this lumberjack match. This was Kerry at his rambling, repetitive worst. He lost his train of thought on a couple of occasions and I have little doubt he forgot that he had to plug that it was a lumberjack match until Percy mentioned it towards the end of the interview. Kerry also comes across as a baby, whining about Pringle calling him a ‘coward’, not how you want your top face to be portrayed. This was bad, but it would have been a whole lot worse without Percy trying to hold it together and being there to prompt Kerry.
February 24, 20178 yr comment_5789569 I was on Percy's side for this as well. Could Kerry ever cut a promo worth a damn?
