Ted DiBiase cuts this promo while Virgil gives him a massage. He forces Virgil to massage his toes, and you can tell Virgil has a problem with it. This feud was built up so well.

That they were able to sit on this angle for almost four years--I think a Virgil turn was a fairly obvious thing to go with from the very beginning--is an aspect of wrestling booking that I miss.

DiBiase getting a message from Virgil. Cash is thicker than blood. Virgil will do whatever DiBiase tells him to do. Virgil is looking more disapproving of having to deal with the Million Dollar Man. This stuff was hinted more at early in year but now it will be a huge focus of 91.

Probably the first big tease and give away of what was going to happen in 1991. I always thought it was a great way they taped this in showing Virgils humiliation.

Just couldn't resist taking a little look at this on my way to another match. This shit right here is one of the darkest angles the WWF would ever run. DiBiase doesn't just want to own Virgil, he wants to humilate him. It's pretty fucked up and one of the great angles of DiBiase's WWF run.

I agree that this was some pretty heavy stuff. They couldn't do it sooner because they needed to establish Virgil as an obedient servant first, and also because Mike Jones needed to be able to do enough in the ring to gave Teddy a decent series of matches. I'm kind of surprised that it took this long, but Teddy's always had higher-profile feuds and angles on his plate before that wouldn't have been well served by injecting this kind of story into them, even if Jones had been good enough in the ring to do his part.

 

I thought for sure that Virgil was going to grab one of Teddy's toes during the foot massage and yank it as hard as he could. Oh well, time for that sort of thing soon enough!
