The WWE turned the fans own hijack movement into their own angle and it worked fantastically..

I can't wait to hear Meltzer's explanation. His "reporting" is the only reason I expected Punk to be there.

Meltzer and Johnson were told 100% he'd be there by a "top WWE star". The crowd was always going to be hot for Punk but that set it over the top.

Bryan kicking HHH in the head as he was about to speak was the hardest I've laughed watching wrestling in quite some time. I'm going to forget about everything else and just howl with laughter every time I watch or think about it

To be fair to Dave, even though his sources expected Punk to be there tonight, he said himself he wasn't all that positive on it.

Whoever came up with the plan to navigate Raw in Chicago is a genius. Huge credit to WWE on this one.

It will be interesting to see if there is any fallout the next time they do Chicago. If Bryan is champ, I think they will do alright. They might have killed the town.

People were bitching over on DVDVR about viewers being excited about watching the hostile crowd, but it's one of the few things in the world that can force WWE to be creative and come out firing on all cylinders in a single-company world. That's the joy of it, not just the derailing but to see what the hell WWE, which is generally formulaic as anything, does in response.

WWE never advertised Punk would be there and Heyman told everyone that Punk wasn't there but they still believed it. The only person to mention Punk by name on the air was Lawler.

I guess it belongs here but according to the APW Wrestling twitter page, Drake Younger has signed a contract to the WWE. Really hope that it is true as this is a guy that deserves a chance to see what he can do in the big time.

Wrestlemania weekend and the post-Mania RAW is a whole different beast compared to Chicago - I think controlling the crowd will have more to do with match results and card placement - but I'm very interested in watching how they book the show. Maybe they wont care as much because a lot of crowd reactions get lost in a Dome and the post-Mania RAW crowd will get the "bizarro world" treatment?

 

Idk, this show proved they can book an amazing overall show - good matches and advance storylines in a compelling way - but they did it because they knew they had to deliver so the Chicago crowd didn't ruin the show. I wonder if Mania will get the same approach.
