Posted December 15, 201212 yr comment_5522608 Mil Mascaras & El Solitario vs. Dr. Wagner & El Faraon There are some guys in this match who should probably be on this set in some capacity, but I just can't do it with matches like this. I don't know if I could say a guy's stock is going down if I've barely even seen them before, but Solitario has a hell of a rep as a worker, and he is just not good at all here. He's feuding with Wagner, and they're super fired-up squaring off against each other, but when they actually start fighting, he gives me nothing. Just embarrassingly sloppy offense and some really bizarre selling. Hopefully, I'll find something that proves he isn't as big of a lie as Tiger Mask Sayama, but this wasn't a good sign. Blackman, Kendo, & Avispon Negro vs. El Brazo, Fuerza Guerrera, & Talisman Probably too clipped up to include, not that it really demanded inclusion, anyway. Enrique Vera, Stuka, & Quazar vs. El Canek, Brazo de Oro, & Brazo de Plata This has a little bit of clipping, including, most awkwardly, cutting out the winning pinfall, but I don't think we missed too much, and what's left kicked ass. Really great brawl with the rudo team turning in a great performance, especially Porky, who looked like a pint-sized Vader in parts of this match. Really beat the shit out of guys, loved him smashing a row of chairs onto his hapless foes at the start of the match, and he took some impressive bumps, including a Jerry bump, which I didn't know he had in him even in his younger and (comparatively) slimmer days. Canek had a really fun performance as well, did some great brawling, and his power offense added a neat touch to the match. Vera continues to impress me. He totally hung with the rudos for brawling, and he had a really wild exchange with Canek down the stretch. The finish itself felt a little weak compared to the rest of the match, and like I said, the actual winning pinfall got clipped out, but this was still a treat. Nomination. Fantasma, Dorado, & Franco Colombo vs. Enfermero, Supremo, & International Man, International's ring jacket is the shit. Then he takes it off, and his actual gear is ugly as hell. Then he starts wrestling, and that's when things get really bad. Other than him, though, this was a pretty good match, but breaks down into an angle in the second fall when Colombo turns on his partners. Villano III & Masakre vs. Dos Caras & Babe Face Kind of a similar situation to the above, as a good match comes to an abrupt halt when Masakre fouls Dos, and Villano III, disapproving of his tactics, turns on him. Ultraman, Kung Fu, & Stuka vs. Satanico, Herodes, & Masakre This felt cuspish. Pretty good throughout with some standout moments and a pretty contrived finish. Worth looking at, but I can't imagine I'd fight for it.
April 1, 201312 yr comment_5540643 Mil Mascaras & El Solitario vs. Dr. Wagner & El Faraon (1986) Some huge names here but they were going through the motions a little too much here and it was the epitome of what you would call a house show match. Avispon Negro/Blackman/Kendo vs. El Brazo/Fuerza Guerrera/Talisman (1986) Clipped up. Quazar/Stuka/Enrique Vera vs. Los Brazos (Oro y Plata)/Canek (1986) The rudos are real asses early here as they jump the tecnicos on the floor especially Porky who picked up a row of chairs and used it as a weapon. Porky was a dynamo here being great on offense and just bumped like a motherfucker. Stuka was really fun here as well as a fired up babyface and Vera did a good job of brawling with the rudos. The 3rd fall was really damn fun with so much going on but the fucking pinfall was clipped out. Helluva match here but no film of the finish hurts it. I'll push it forward though. El Dorado/El Fantasma/Franco Colombo vs. El Enfermero/El Internacional/El Supremo (1986) Yes Internacional's jacket is awesome. This was all about Franco turning rudo. Babe Face & Dos Caras vs. Masakre & Villano III (1986) This was all about V-3 getting pissed at Masakre for fouling Dos. Kung Fu/Stuka/Ultraman vs. Herodes/Masakre/Satanico (1986) Good match with eveyryone working hard but nothing dynamic enough to warrant a nomination. Maybe a better finish would've helped as well.
