April 5, 201312 yr Author comment_5541063 Lawler and Embry tease another brawl. Lawler isn't leaving until Embry comes back out. Things get out of hand with furniture being swung everywhere and this is a great way to hype the lumberjack match on Monday night.
April 22, 201312 yr comment_5542773 All the chase scenes over the past few weeks are a great way to build up to the lumberjack stip. Embry cuts another psychotic enraged promo but takes off again whenever Lawler comes out. This ends up in a fantastic chaotic scene involving Embry, Prichard, the Barroom Brawlers, and Jarrett/Fuller all swinging chairs at one another and trashing furniture.
May 15, 201312 yr comment_5544699 It felt like we were just going to get another tease with Embry running off after Lawler shows. But Eric returns with a chair which he fires at Lawler. Jerry does his own chair throwing. More guys show up and we are swinging chairs at each other. We even get more brawling later. Great segment.
October 12, 201311 yr comment_5567107 Crazy Embry comes out and cuts a scorching promo until Jerry runs him off. Jerry begs him to come back and I figured this would be it to build up Monday night and the lumberjack stip. But Eric does come back and we get a cool scene with chairs being thrown at each other. Good chaotic scene to end things out with the lumberjacks out.
June 20, 201510 yr comment_5678888 This brawl has to set the record for type and number of chairs thrown in one segment or match in wrestling history. Where did they get them all, anyway? Don't forget the odd garbage can, plus the desk being overturned on top of everything else. All we needed to make it complete was Leatherface and his chainsaw! What really made this was the reaction of Dave and Michael at the desk. They're right smack in the middle of one of the wildest brawls in Memphis TV history through no fault of their own, and while they definitely want things back under control, they don't freak out and practically demand the National Guard like JR would in a situation like this. The truth is, they're getting a kick out of it in their own way, just like the other fans are. That's one of the secrets to Dave's success; for all of his responsibilities as an on-air personality, in the end he's just a fan having fun. That's something announcers tend not to have starting about this time: a sense of fun and excitement. We have Vince's relentless, rather sleazy shilling and JR's hyper-serious "This is a real sport just like football, dammit!" approaches, but seldom do we get a sense of people calling the matches and having fun doing so. This sense of fun may be one of the reasons that Memphis was the last of the kayfabe-era territories to bite the dust.
December 11, 20177 yr comment_5823772 Brown and Michael dodging around when the action came their way was awesome. That they didn't run off and still had smiles on their faces was, as mentioned above, even better. Incredible studio brawl, I love Memphis!
