April 14, 201312 yr Author comment_5542095 Tito Santana returns to his "native land" of Spain. He proclaims that he will become EL MATADOR.
May 24, 201312 yr comment_5545428 Santana VERY woodenly recites how he must face off against a charging bull to reach new heights in the WWF, then goes into scary voice mode. Such an awful, lamebrained idea from a company that was on a creative hot streak.
June 1, 201312 yr comment_5546138 Did we need to give Santana a gimmick? He wants to return to his native land and become El Matador!
March 20, 201411 yr comment_5595256 Tito knows he has to be a bullfighter to become a good wrestler in the WWF.... wait what? Occupational wrestling in WWF starts creeping up here big time after some better conceived gimmicks like IRS.
September 25, 201510 yr comment_5700562 I'm torn on this one. I can see the points of those who hate this gimmick or feel it's unnecessary, but on the other hand, what was left for Tito as himself? His time as a tltleholder/main eventer in the WWF had been over for three years at least. He'd settled down in New Jersey, so he wasn't going to WCW, and ECW, even if he'd wanted to go there, was two years away. It was either this or schlep around the Northeastern indies, which were the very definition of the term "sorry lot". He probably thought that Vince would push him a hell of a lot harder as El Matador than what ended up happening, although he still had a few shining moments left in the not-too-distant future. He's not really a good emoter, though, so these vignettes are bound to suffer in comparison to those featuring guys with more charisma and ability to project. It could have been worse; he could have been repackaged as a taco salesman from Tijuana named Chico. (Boy, do I miss The Body!)
