Posted July 6, 200520 yr comment_2777724 From an e-mail a friend sent me: According to AdAge.com, the burger chain has been in preliminary talks with P. Diddy, Russell Simmons and Tommy Hilfiger about having their respective fashion houses spearhead an $80 million makeover aimed at turning the chain's bland uniforms into hip street gear young employees would be proud to wear. Other firms McDonald's is reportedly eyeing include Abercrombie & Fitch, FUBU and Rocawe

July 7, 200520 yr comment_2783239 This might bring me back into McDonalds for the first time in a year. Imagine the hilarity seeing some of those people in "street wear".

It's like they're saying all employees that work at McDonald's are black and want to wear street clothes. I'm assuming that the white people working there wouldn't want to wear FUBU related shit.
July 7, 200520 yr comment_2783976 That is a good point and given more time to think about it, I immediately thought that, too. "They're actin' as if only young black people work at McDonald's." But I wasn't near a computer when that thought crossed my mind. I do like the ads that popped up at the bottom of this page, though, given the limited amount of discussion already. July 7, 200520 yr comment_2785578 The article does say that they are entertaining offers from Abercromie & Fitch, so I think they know that they there is a potential issue with making employees dress in a way they don't want to, but no clothing company would agree to take part in this unless they are the EXCLUSIVE provider of wardrobe.

July 7, 200520 yr comment_2786088 I'd like to know the point of this. Is McDonalds' uniform policy preventing the best and brightest young people of our nation from working in their restaurants? Do customers choose fast food choices based on the uniforms their employees wear?

Studies these companies (at least KFC I know of, since I worked/work there) done say that the clothing actually can hinder or heighten sales. Or at least what my manager told me. Maybe getting "hip", they believe to increase sales.
