Broad range of topics covered including problems with ROH, possible guys they could bring in, what may be motivating the continued WWE talent pick ups from the indies, whether or not El Generico has anything left to do on the indies, et.
July 12, 201213 yr comment_5509989 Dylan and I talk about the state of the indies in relation to WWE and TNA signing indie talent and what possibilities and directions are available. Wrestling Culture Episode 22
July 12, 201213 yr Author comment_5509995 I wonder if you guys will ever do a state of the indies show? It's funny you should ask because on Episode 22 we do a State of The Indies show.
July 12, 201213 yr comment_5509997 Listening now while burning AWA sets and I am going to bring up 2 points... 1. I love the question "Who should ROH bring in?" Hell, instead of laughing at the demise, I would like to see people's thoughts on how to put a band-aid on the company. How should they change the company? 2. I have seen ACH about 4-5 times the last couple of years and he doesn't always have great matches but I have yet to see him miss one spot live. Even more impressive, I saw him have a match with Arik Cannon in Austin where it had just rained at an outdoor venue and they wrestled a 12 minute match on a slick mat and pulled it off without sacrificing spots. Really can't see why he hasn't been put in higher level indies.
July 12, 201213 yr comment_5510008 I'll second ACH. I've seen him work live around 6 or 7 times and usually has at least a fun match. The dude has loads of charisma, and connects well with the crowd here in Austin.
July 12, 201213 yr comment_5510019 I think the answer to "Who should ROH bring in?" is it really doesn't matter. The problem is that they've got a product that plays best in the Northeast, but their television is largely shown in other markets, not to mention in bad time slots. The business plan of needing to draw 700 fans per house show in markets ill suited to the ROH style was insane when TNA struggles to draw much more than that with ten times the star power. They've also killed their iPPV business with the constant screw ups.

July 12, 201213 yr comment_5510025 They should bring Scorpio full time. He is still a great wrestler and he can pass for a young guy. I would bring in Vader part time. Watching his recent Indy appearances and Vader can still go on occasion.
July 16, 201213 yr comment_5510375 Just was able to listen to this and it made me sad about how few guys they really are nowadays on the indy scene that interest me. Living in Georgia, I have seen my share of chip day and I think he can be hit or miss depending on the show. Just seemed like in 2001 -2003 you had so many interesting characters out there (punk, Cabana, Danielson, Low Ki, Homicide, Super Dragon, Necro) and now I would not put anyone on that level.
July 16, 201213 yr Author comment_5510376 Day is a shit ton better as a tag wrestler than as a singles guy
