Posted February 2, 201312 yr comment_5532659 There is a clip in the middle where we miss some stuff, but what we got was pretty awesome. Just a back and forth brawl with some of the fastest punch combos I can remember seeing, Medico can throw. Embry is really great with some wild in ring bumping and a truly insane bump to the floor. Finish was a bit screwy, but I loved this
February 4, 201312 yr comment_5533034 What was shown of this was pretty awesome, but I have no clue how much is missing. I suspect not very much, but it's hard to say. Whatever the case may be, this is a balls out sprint, with both guys looking really good. There is a punch exchange in this that is as good as any punch exchange I've ever seen in a wrestling match. Just two dudes tagging each other on jaw and Embry's head whipping around from each shot. They go to this really nice rope running spot and Embry takes an insane bump basically tope'ing himself onto the ground. Embry ends up stealing the fall, but the fall he gets stooged off for cheating and the fall gets reversed, with Medico winning in short order. Crowd is pretty insane to see him get his haircut. This is maybe five minutes of in ring action at most, but what is there is great.
June 29, 201312 yr comment_5549262 Watching the link, there are a couple of clues to determining the match date. Based on the crowd, the location (Hiram Bithorn Stadium), and two details Hugo mentions on commentary (WWC president is at ringside and that they are transmitting the match via closed circuit to Roberto Clemente Coliseum), the match is from the "Vengeance in the Afternoon" card held on June 15, 1986. As for the match itself, this is the culmination of the Eric Embry vs. Super Medico feud. It's hair vs. mask. This feud came about because Sasha, Embry's valet, hadenough of Embry being abuisive towards her and turned face. Super MEdico came to her aid and the end result of the feud is this amtch. Embry has Vivian St. John with him, while Super Medico was supposed to have Sasha with him. However, for some reason she wasn't allowed to be at ringside. Now the bad news with regards to the clip. They go to commercial promising the end of the match. After Invader shows up to protest what happened (Hugo mentions with the WWC President at ringside it's likely he wouldn't let such an injustice stand), Eliud Gonzalez announces the match is restarting. He also mentions the match time when it restarts: "This match will continue at the 17:05 mark." Going by that, it appears there's approx. 10 minutes that have been clipped.
