Posted February 5, 201312 yr comment_5533432 I watched this a few months ago, but why not again for the purposes of this project? Anyhow this was a really fun sprint/brawl. I loved Sheik using his garb as an ambush tool right out of the gate and I will never tire of Garvin's wild overhand chops. It's possible this could have done without the pretense of build as it wasn't going anywhere, anyhow, but both guys delivered with stiffness and we got a cool Sheik suplex. Would have liked to have a better finish, but the one we got wasn't terrible. This wouldn't make an other territories set, but I could see it on a PR set. Not saying we will get to that point, but I may start a separate thread in this forum where I rank the matches in categories broken down by whether or not I could see going to the wall for it in broad Other Territories set or only on something smaller (PR and/or PR and some other smaller combination).
May 28, 20169 yr comment_5755118 "Hands of Stone" Ronnie Garvin vs. Iron Sheik (9/10/88)Sheiky attacked Garvin at the bell and started choking him with his own towel. Sheiky was roughhousing Garvin good before Ronnie came out firing away with chops and jabs to offset Sheiky. The match from here became my turn your turn with both guys trading control with Garvin using his striking and Sheiky using holds. There were some disjointed points in this as well although Garvin was laying in the shots though which was nice. They went outside in the mud and brawled for a bit before Garvin beat Sheiky back in the ring to win by countout. Man I really wanted to love this but I couldn't which was sad because of Garvin so I can't see this as a nomination.
