With Dylan burning through this stuff, any thoughts about doing a separate 50-75 match PR set. Might be something we could throw out this year, and a lot of this stuff I have checked out is fucking off the charts

I'm torn on this.

 

I think a PR Set with stuff from the 90's would be great and we could easily hit 75 matches, possibly even more.

 

From the 80's? We can probably hit fifty. 75? I don't know about that. Not impossible I guess, but it's too early for me to tell and then there is the issue of what is out there on discs?

 

The flip side of this is that I would hate for us to have to cut some really deserving stuff from an Other Territories Set because we don't want forty or fifty PR matches on a set where a dozen plus promotions may end up being represented.

I have no problem with a 50 match set. Also I am sure we can grab whatever we don't have on disc off of youtube

How much of the stuff you guys have on disc is originally from Bottomless Jack's sets that he put out several years back?

Youtube is the only way you could do a separate set. If more and more keeps popping up then you could hit 50.

Kris, I found more commercial releases available that I do not have. One of them is a Hansen vs. Colon feud set. I think all of the YouTube will be found on commercial or the tv set. Maybe 1 or 2 matches might have to be picked up.

I'd be tempted to put lucha and Puerto Rico together. They seem to compliment each other well.

If we can get a 75 match lucha set, then it will be a stand alone set. At this point, if we get a 50 match Puerto Rico set, we can always group it with another territory.

I'm going to comb through the tape discussion thread to see if there's anything I can add based on the match description/reviews. I'm doing this blind (unless I've seen something or find it on youtube), so take any extras suggestions I make as just that, a suggestion based on what's described.

Boricua, after Dylan combs through the remaining PR discs, if there is something in there you aren't sure of and need to see, I can send him money to send you the package so you can watch the footage yourself.

Ok, thanks for including me in this project. I'll do my best to help. Quick question, if I see any interesting matches on YouTube that have not been discussed or have a match thread, do I suggest them here or open a thread for them in the match discussion folder?

If you want to nominate it as one of the best matches from Puerto Rico, nominate it in the Matches folder. After Dylan and Kris watch it, it will get moved to the love or doubt section.

Let's bang this out. I think with most of this stuff on youtube and Will's ability to put it there we should be able to get this done in the next couple of months and we can have it in reserve

Here is what needs to happen...

 

1. Dylan has the 100 disc BJAck set to cross reference what Kris has seen. He needs to watch those.

 

2. Kris has the Remaining commercial releases and needs to watch those to match up with what Dylan has watched on YouTube.

 

3. El Boricua is going to help me get a deal done with YouTube guy to get the YouTube footage on discs and sent to me.

 

We bang out a set.

 

I think Portland will be easier to finish first but there is no reason if everyone burns through the footage we have why both can't be finished by the end of the year.

There are two notable Youtube channels with WWC stuff. One is Havoc's channel, the other is ClassicsWWC. I found a contact e-mail for Havoc from the wrestling forum he runs. The guy behind ClassicsWWC apparently posted on the WWCInfo forums. I had tried to register find a contact there but the board was not allowing new user registration. When I checked it a couple of days ago, it appears that the domain expired and the board was nuked. There's another forum that some of those posters are on which has been somewhat inactive, I'm not sure if I can get a contact there. There are some other channels, but they appear to be stuff from the Bottomless Jack set (aztecpride004) or obtained the stuff they posted from Havoc (Miguel Velazquez's channel). In the case of the luchalibreonline channel, I don't know if the stuff came from someone else or from the guy with the channel (this channel is a bit annoying because he adds a logo to the videos and some of the promos have music added to them that were not there originally). That's basically where I'm at right now.

 

Let me know how you want to proceed with this.

Just a heads up, but it appears that WWC is going to be airing some classic matches in the lead up to Aniversario 40 (likely due to not running any house shows until then). The only thing is that I don't know how complete they'll be or if they'll be 'new'. For example, today they showed Ric Flair vs. Dusty Rhodes, but they also showed an Hercules Ayala vs. Ciclon Negro match that I had not seen before. The announcer mentioned it was from mid-80 (not sure if he meant literally the year but it's possible since I don't recall Ciclon Negro being here in the mid-80's). Still, it's more likely that match is from 82 or 83.

 

I'll keep an eye out to what else they air in the next few weeks. Supposedly they have matches with Pedro Morales, Los Súper Médicos, El Barrabás and Isaac Rosario for tomorrow.

Shit, does that mean the matches that Dylan watched are gone or just your contact to the guy who posted them are gone? I haven't checked. Either way, once I am done dealing with the lucha set, I'll get with you and we'll see what are our options are.

The youtube channels are still there. The forum that Havoc runs is still up, the one that is gone was a different forum that was set up by someone from the kayfabememories board. That forum was the WWCInfo forum and I think the guy behind the other Classics WWC channel posted there. I was trying to see if I could get a contact for that guy there but the board was not allowing new users. Then I checked recently and it turns out that board's domain expired.

 

The contact I got for Havoc should still be valid since his board is still active. I think these guys know each other, so one may know how to contact others with footage (not a sure thing though).

The channels are still there and there is really a ton on both. I tried to watch a Piper v. Invader 1 match the other night and it wouldn't load, but the point is there are probably still a couple of dozen 80's matches on those channels worth watching that I never got to and aren't on any of the existing discs we have

That Piper/Invader match is the last couple of minutes and post match

As an example, I'm pretty sure that the New Zealand Militia match and the Bronca Boricua matches I nominated are not on the discs you guys have. I'll try to comb over the channels in the next few weeks to see what might be of interest. If I see anything that looks interesting in terms of being watched for possible nomination I'll mention it or put up a thread.

 

What I would consider is having a plan for those Youtube matches in case discs for those matches are not easily obtained.

 

To update the classic matches WWC is showing this weekend, today they had Pedro Morales vs. Animal Williams (TV squash from likely 83) and the end of a Carlos Colon vs. Atkie Mulumba chain match (likely from 91 or 92). I missed part of the show, but they had a Super Medicos match scheduled (from around 83 or 84 since they mentioned it was 1 and 2 with Barrrabas as their manager). The video quality on both matches I saw was a bit iffy but watchable.

I need Dylan & Kris to go through the batch of discs sent to them so we can see what was youtube only and what is available on disc.

Updating the classic matches shown this weekend: a clip of the Jan 6 Chicky Starr vs. Invader match. Also, three joined in progress TV studio matches: Miguel Perez (Sr.) vs. Bob Sweetan, Super Medicos 1 & 2 (w/Barrabas) vs. Isaac Rosario & Randy Scott, and King Tonga vs. Ciclon Negro. If I had to guess, I'd say the matches.are from late 83 to early 84. Really makes me wonder what they actually have in their tape library and if the stories of them losing a lot of their library due to improper storage are somewhat overblown.

I have now watched all the DVD's I got.
