Posted February 14, 201312 yr comment_5535274 This continues with the Best of 1985 show. "Luscious" Robert Fuller, Boomer H. Lynch, & Mr. Olympia vs. Jimmy Backlund & The Lighting Express (Brad Armstrong & "White Lightning" Tim Horner) (1/13/86) Backlund looks like the weak link but early on he gets offense and looks on the par of his partners which was a cool touch although maybe not up to Brad's par as he looked awesome. Backlund would of course work FIP though and he was bumping hard here for the Studs but gets some hope spots in so he was staying credible. Horner would get the hot tag and he cleaned house before Fuller would kick him in the head giving the Studs a chance to go back on offense. The Stud gets on the house mic and does commentary which was fun. Horner takes a beating but not as good as Backlund and when he finally gets the hot tag to Backlund the 6-way brawl begins featuring Backlund getting his head ripped off by a clothesline by Olympia then eats a brainbuster. Backlund then eats a splash by Boomer and pinned by Robert nonchalantly to finish the match. This was a very fun match especially Backlund's involvement and this is a low-end nomination. Next we get promos by Fuller, Lynch, Olympia, Bullet, Brad, & Soto. Then we get a promo by Street. This is followed by a recap of the Nightmares/Rich's feud. Next we get promos by Fuller, Lynch, Olympia, Bullet, & Norvell. Then we get clips of Jimmy Golden jumping the Bullet on a house show with Bullet & Steve Armstrong narrating. (2/10/86) Next we get promos by Norvell, Rich, & Nightmares. "Mr. Perfect" Jerry Stubbs vs. Bill Tabb (2/10/86) Stubbs has lost his mask the week before and takes out his frustrations on Tabb. Stubbs is now joined by Fuller & Lynch for a promo about Bullet with a taped promo by the Stud talking about the bounty. Ron West comes out and they show tape of the mask match. Next we get promos by Horner & Terminator. Then we get clips of the tarring and feathering again with Nightmares narrating with a retort promo by the Rich's. Next we get clips of Street beating Norvell for the SE title on 2/17/86 and a promo to follow. Texas Tornado Match for the Southeastern Tag Titles: The Nightmares (Danny Davis & Ken Wayne) © vs. Johnny & "Wildfire" Tommy Rich (2/17/86) This was a wild brawl from the start with everyone brawling all over the place including Johnny being thrown facefirst into the ringside table and Tommy taking a hard bump from the ring to the floor. Johnny busts a gusher after being thrown into the table and blood is flowing like water but Tommy keeps hope alive for his team trying to fight both of them. Johnny would eat the Tombstone/Alabama Jam combo but as they celebrated, Tommy caught Wayne with a dropkick and he hit Davis headfirst then placed Johnny on top for the pin. Then we would get a promo by both teams wanting a rematch. Fun stuff plus Johnny tapping a gusher added the extra oomph this match needed to warrant a nomination. This show starts with Street talking about Wendell Cooley. (3/24/86) Southeastern Heavyweight Title: "Exotic" Adrian Street © vs. "Wildcat" Wendell Cooley (3/24/86) Cooley made his debut the week before and is getting a title shot. Cooley sends Street running early but Street runs back and attacks Cooley as he tries to go after Miss Linda. Street beats Cooley from pillar to post on the floor with Linda getting her shots in as well before Cooley fires it up taking it to Street before reversing a Street pinfall attempt to win the title. Nice ending to the match but there wasn't enough meat here for a nomination.

Lynch, & Mr. Olympia vs. Jimmy Backlund & The Lighting Express (Brad Armstrong & "White Lightning" Tim Horner) I'll cosign this as a low end nomination. We get a really nice shine segment to start for Brad. Horner also gets a nice shine segment. Backlund comes in and works some fun spots with Fuller. Eventually he gets put in FIP and the heels beat on him with Fuller and Olympia looking real good here. Eventually he gets the hot tag to Horner. After some flashes on offense he gets cut off. I thought the heels working him over was pretty pedestrian. We work to the finish and Stubbs kills Backlund. By far the longest match I've seen so far. Texas Tornado Match for the Southeastern Tag Titles: The Nightmares (Danny Davis & Ken Wayne) © vs. Johnny & "Wildfire" Tommy Rich This is a fun little brawl with Johnny looking really good. The Nightmares were great as usual. Tommy is good here too. A tad short, but I'll say it's a low end nomination.
