This is a studio match and angle at the beginning of TNT's first big push and it is really outstanding stuff. Colon tries to work a clean match and that last for about 2 seconds as TNT brings the fire power so he has to fight back. This ends up turning into this great back and fourth fight, with both guys throwing punches, chops, thrusts, kicks, et at a break neck pace. There was one really awesome chop to the head by TNT with a great close up of Colon wincing in pain. Colon even hits a pair of nice dropkicks and a butterfly suplex of all things. TNT locks in the Cobra Clutch and Colon is absolutely desperate to get out of the move. He kicks off the ropes and they knock down the ref, then Colon kicks off the ropes again but TNT keeps holding on. He goes to kick off of the ropes but TNT pulls him back into the ring so Colon breaks free with a short elbow. It looks like Colon is going to make a comeback but El Profe climbs in the ring and fucking waffles him full tilt with a briefcase and TNT locks the hold on again choking Colon out. The ref signals for the bell and you think it's going to be a title switch, but he ends up DQing TNT and giving the match to Colon. Meanwhile Colon is foaming at the mouth. This is totally classic as it looks like Colon rubbed shaving cream into his mouth when Profe covered his face with a towel. They have to bring a doctor in to rub Colon's shoulders and revive him and even then Carlos is drooling over himself and looking like he's about to yack. Awesome tv segment from beginning to end.

This is only about five minutes bell-to-bell but it's great shit. I would rate this as better than Bock v. Larry Z sprint that made the AWA Set and better than a lot of things currently nominated in this forum

I had mentioned that I was going to provide some context for this match. Basically, TNT and El Profe had made their debut around a month prior to this. Profe had stated that TNT would refuse to wrestle anybody until he got a shot against Carlos Colon. As the match begins, the commentators (Joaquin Padin, hijo and Hector Moyano) talk about how TNT had been very anxious in getting this match and he's finally gotten it. Carlos is coming off a tough title defense (not sure against who). It's youth vs. experience. TNT comes out firing and this match is basically a sprint, with both men exchanging blows. Carlos takes control with some dropkicks and a butterfly suplex, but TNT uses his martial arts prowess to cut Carlos off with a thrust kick. TNT puts Carlos in the Cobra Dinamita (cobra sleeperhold) and Carlos tries to fight out of it. Carlos pushes off the turnbuckle but accidently knocks down referee Ricky Vargas. Carlos pushes off again and the hold is still not broken. A third attempt to kick off the ropes fails, but Carlos manages to get out by elbowing TNT. As Carlos struggles to get his bearings, a desperate Profe jumps into the ring and wallops Carlos on the head with this briefcase. TNT promptly hooks the Cobra Dinamita on him again. The referee calls for the bell and it appears we have a new Universal champion.

El Profe comes into the ring to celebrate with TNT. He also places a towel (wow, a tiger print, how classy) on Carlos' face. This was actually not out of place, because after TNT would put his opponents to sleep, he had to wake them up. Profe would use the towel so no one would learn the technique of how to wake someone up from the hold post match while TNT woke his opponent. In Puerto Rico, it was established that certain sleeper holds required the correct technique to wake someone up (you had to know the pressure points to hit in order to put someone out and to wake them up). Anyway, Profe demands the title belt as TNT continues to celebrate. The announcers start to mention that TNT has to wake Carlos up and that the ref is signaling for TNT to do so. The ref is also calling for the title belt. As the ref approaches with the title belt, he signals that Carlos is the winner via DQ, he had seen Profe hit Carlos with the briefcase. By this point the announcer spick up on the fact that Carlos is spewing foam from his mouth. He has not been woken up from the hold! The ref is pointing at Carlos, signaling to TNT that he has to wake him. For a brief moment it looks like TNT will do that, but instead he angrily picks up the towel and leaves the ring. El Profe follows, not before spitting on the fallen Colon. The announcers are worried, the only man who knows the technique of how to wake someone up from the hold has left and Carlos is still out. A worried Joaquin Padin starts thinking that maybe they could get Victor Jovica (the master of the sleeperhold) to help. Padin sends fellow commentator Hector Moyano to go find Jovica. Moyano heads off to find Jovica, as referee Ricky Vargas is trying to think of what to do. Carlos is starting to tremble and is still foaming. Ricky Vargas tries to see if he can wake Carlos up but it's no use. Padin on commentary is saying that they're hoping that Jovica, who is an expert in the sleeperhold, might be able to do something for Carlos. Finally, Moyano returns with Jovica in tow.

Jovica enters the ring and works on Carlos. He manages to wake him up, but with some difficulty, as the Cobra Dinamita is a different technique than his sleeperhold. Still, he manages to bring Carlos out of it. Carlos starts heaving in deep breaths and looks like he is about to hurl. Jovica and Vargas help Carlos out of the ring as Padin calls for applause for Jovica (Padin: It's a miracle, thank you Victor Jovica!). Carlos can barely stand and is still heaving in deep breaths as he is helped back to the locker room by the referees and Moyano.

Universal Heavyweight Title: Carlos Colon vs. TNT (October 1986)

This had a fast pace with both men trading offense before TNT locked on a cobra clutch which Colon would try to break free from using the ropes but he hit the referee knocking him down. El Profe then came in the ring and used his briefcase to knock out Colon and the referee raises his arms three times giving TNT the win or so it seemed as Colon would get his hand raised by the referee as foam was starting to come out of his mouth. This is a match definitely helped by El Boricua and his history lesson because with all what he posted this should definitely be a nomination.

This is an example of a match with an outstanding angle surrounding it. The match itself is actually a really fun sprint. Carlos pulls out big moves like a butterfly suplex but mostly this is just both guys throwing bombs for three or four minutes. They hit a bunch of thrust kicks, punchs, and chops but the crowd is awesome as they go "OOHH" after every Carlos move. Carlos goes for a charge in the corner and misses and TNT catches him with a thrust kick. TNT then puts him in the cobra clutch and Carlos tries to break out of it and it's pretty great drama. He ends up knocking down the referee and Carlos barely manages to break free with an elbow then El Profe comes in and whacks him with his briefcase before TNT locks in the cobra clutch again. TNT wins the match and the crowd is livid. El Profe lays a tiger striped towel over Carlos's face setting up for TNT waking him up but TNT doesn't leading to the referee reversing the decision. TNT is pissed that he didn't win the WWC title and leaves along with Profe who spits on Colon. No one is able to wake Colon up from the cobra clutch and he starts foaming from the mouth so the announcers send for Victor Jovica the master of the sleeper hold to wake him up. Jovica succeeds but barely as Colon continues to foam out of the mouth but the announcers and crowd go batshit over Jovica's heroics. This was a fucking awesome angle and a really fun sprint to go with it. SOLID nomination.
