Posted February 19, 201312 yr comment_5535970 This starts with promos by Danny Davis & Willie B. Hert. Lord Humongous (Sid Vicious) vs. Alan Martin (6/19/88) Squash. Carter & Pyle try to jump Humongous but he overpowers them until Demo shows up with a baseball bat and they bash him over the head which is BLURRED OUT. Charlie Platt is about to go nuts on commentary. Extra material. "Universal Heartthrob" Austin Idol vs. Private Pyle (6/19/88) Pyle puts up a fight but Idol would finish him off with ease. Next we get DWB & DWG for a promo about Bambi coming into the area. DWB says that he would slap the hell out of Bambi. Davis is out for a promo about his upcoming match with Hot Stuff for $25,000 before Ken Wayne shows up wearing a dress coming out of the crowd leading to Hot Stuff attacking Davis. Gilbert & Wayne even do the Nightmare finisher (tombstone piledriver/legdrop off the top rope) which was a cool touch. Definite extra. Then we get promos by Paul E. & Wayne. $25,000 Golden Challenge: "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert vs. Mr. Olympia (6/19/88) Olympia takes Davis' place and Gilbert is full on hamming here bumping and selling like crazy, begging off, then gets a rope and used it. Gilbert would work over Olympia being very confident and cocky in his movements. Olympia would come back with a sunset flip off the apron for a nearfall then an inside cradle for another nearfall before a double clothesline puts them both down. This would turn into a slugfest with both men putting each other down before Olympia takes it to the floor where he regains the advantage. Olympia's wrist bandage is hanging down and he is going to town on Gilbert until Paul E. trips him up as he runs the ropes for the DQ. They try to reinjure the wrist but Idol runs out with a cane and attacks Gilbert. Very good back and forth match and I'm putting this on the block. Lord Humongous vs. The Intruder (7/2/88) Joe Pedicino is back on commentary here. Total squash. "Nightmare" Danny Davis vs. Alan Martin (7/2/88) Martin puts up a fight here and when Davis starts taking it to him, Martin chunks him over the top for the DQ. Lawler is out next calling out all challengers to come get a shot at his AWA title. Extra material. Next we get promos from Davis & Prichard. Charlie Platt in a studio talks about how Hot Stuff & Paul E. basically tried to kill Austin Idol on 7/2/88 in a match against Jerry Lawler and we get clips of the match which looked like a blast. Gilbert threw a fireball in Idol's face as he had Lawler in the figure-four which Pedicino sold like death. Gilbert cuts a promo next explaining himself and this is great. Slam dunk extra.

EXTRA Next we get a great angle with Davis/Wayne dressed as a woman, and Gilbert. Easy extra This segues into $25,000 Golden Challenge: "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert vs. Mr. Olympia This was a fun little give and take match. The early stooging by Gilbert was over the top great. He even scares the little black kids in the audience. The camera crew looks like they miss some sick Cactus Jack level bumps. It settle down with Olympia kicking some Gilbert ass in the shine. Just piller to post. Eventually Gilbert got the heat and he uses the chord as his Memphis weapon of choice. So we get some fun stuff from Gilbert. Olympia's comeback was great with the visual of his tape falling apart on his injury. A cheap ending, but the post match puts heat on their feud. I'll give this a solid nomination. The Lawler interview is an extra. The finish of the Lawler/Idol and Gilbert explanation is an easy extra.
