Posted February 19, 201312 yr comment_5535971 $25,000 Golden Challenge: "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert vs. Mr. Olympia (6/19/88) Olympia takes Davis' place and Gilbert is full on hamming here bumping and selling like crazy, begging off, then gets a rope and used it. Gilbert would work over Olympia being very confident and cocky in his movements. Olympia would come back with a sunset flip off the apron for a nearfall then an inside cradle for another nearfall before a double clothesline puts them both down. This would turn into a slugfest with both men putting each other down before Olympia takes it to the floor where he regains the advantage. Olympia's wrist bandage is hanging down and he is going to town on Gilbert until Paul E. trips him up as he runs the ropes for the DQ. They try to reinjure the wrist but Idol runs out with a cane and attacks Gilbert. Very good back and forth match and I'm putting this on the block.
October 22, 201311 yr comment_5568388 $25,000 Golden Challenge: "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert vs. Mr. Olympia This was a fun little give and take match. The early stooging by Gilbert was over the top great. He even scares the little black kids in the audience. The camera crew looks like they miss some sick Cactus Jack level bumps. It settle down with Olympia kicking some Gilbert ass in the shine. Just piller to post. Eventually Gilbert got the heat and he uses the chord as his Memphis weapon of choice. So we get some fun stuff from Gilbert. Olympia's comeback was great with the visual of his tape falling apart on his injury. A cheap ending, but the post match puts heat on their feud. I'll give this a solid nomination.
