Buddy Rose/Sam Bass/The Sheepherders v. Dutch Savage/Roddy Piper/Rick Martel/Stan Stasiak - 2/3 Falls 1/5/80

The opening of this is outstanding as Piper brings the fire and Buddy and Piper have this awesome rope running exchange with Piper hitting the drop down monkey flip. Buddy goes for his own a few seconds later after barely clearing on a leap frog and Piper drops right into a cover for a near fall. Great stuff AND it led directly to Piper having his back to the heel corner and the heat section. Heat section is really simple, but very solid, with all four heels bringing the pounding and a fun spot where Savage runs around and decks Buddy for a big bump while he's on the apron. Stan the Man gets the hot tag and Buddy gets victimized by punches for a second before Martel tags in and sends Buddy flying into the post. Buddy ends up out of the ring and heads to the dressing room, leaving this four on three, the faces keeping up on the arm work. Great moment with Buddy coming back from the dressing room with a mysterious elbow pad and Dutch Savage walks up from behind him and tags him as he's coming to the ring. I can't decide if the spot with Bass falling to his knees to avoid the heart punch was smart or silly or both. I really liked the heel combo offense on Savage, though the tag out was not the best. Stan comes in and Buddy does this awesome clip to his leg and the heels attack the leg. Buddy comes off the top with a double axe to the leg and Stan gets locked in a half crab for a submission that was kind of confused. Good idea to end a good fall but the execution was off.

Second fall starts off and they start making calls about time almost being up which is a shame because that first fall was really good. For some reason they keep panning to the concessions area. Beginning to the fall is really slow, though I did love parts of the Piper/Bass exchange. Piper in peril was okay, but not outstanding. I did love Martel's offense when he tagged in, especially the rana on Buddy. All hell breaks loose at the one minute mark and there is a great quadruple noggin knocker with the crowd going nuts. Match ends on an anti-climatic draw.

This was good enough where I at least want other peoples opinions about this.
