Posted March 4, 201312 yr comment_5537807 This starts with the 1985 year in review show I've already seen in progress. NWA World Heavyweight Title: "Nature Boy" Ric Flair © vs. The Bullet (5/19/86) Flair starts out very strong here but Bullet comes firing back and the crowd is hot for the action. The action is also fast and furious here as they are working totally for TV and not stalling house show action. Bullet gets numerous nearfalls and Flair is in trouble. Bullet gets a pin on Flair after a clothesline but Flair's foot was under the rope and then after that Bullet locked on the figure-four. Flair is in serious trouble now as the hold is in the middle of the ring as they go to commercial break then they come back with Bullet talking to Solie and they show what happened so this is going to have to be edited in. Bullet still has the hold locked in when El Fuego runs in for the DQ. Bullet fights 2-on-1 until Brad & Horner makes the save. This was a very fun Flair defense and is a solid nomination. The Bullet vs. El Fuego (5/26/86) Early part of this is Bullet trying to get Fuego but Fuego stalling around while trying to get his foreign object but the match would go to the floor with Bullet hitting a cross body block off the apron which was sweet and they would battle to the entrance way where they would get a double countout. Fun brawl while it lasted. "White Lightning" Tim Horner vs. Roy Lee Welch (6/9/86) Welch is back from injury and this is worked as a clean scientific match before a cool looking staredown in the ropes with Welch giving out this death stare before walking back and shaking hands. This back and forth continues before they get in a shoving match which leads to another handshake. Welch would drop down selling his knee after a leapfrog and Horner goes to check on him but Welch would lock in an inside cradle for a nearfall. Horner is pissed now and shoves Welch around before finally decking him sending him to the floor. The time runs out here and this is Welch's heel turn. Continental Heavyweight Title: Brad Armstrong © vs. Kevin Sullivan (9/22/86) Like I said earlier, Brad is on the way out so it's time to drop the strap. I know it's a broken record by now but Brad's punches are so awesome. Sullivan was vicious on offense here inside and outside the ring using the ringpost and barricade as offensive weapons. Sullivan used a wicked standing crossbow which Brad sold like it hurt like hell and it looked that way. Sullivan throws some great punches here as well and it's fun watching him make Brad work his style. Sullivan though was too tough here and just planted him with a sweet short piledriver to get the win. I dug this match a lot and I'm throwing it on the block. One of your better Sullivan singles matches from this era at least on TV. Tennessee Stud comes out as Sullivan is giving a promo with the Headhunters and said that he has not worked with Sullivan in anyway and Sullivan has been pulling wool over the Stud Stable's eyes. This ends up with Headhunters & Stubbs destroying Stud until the Stable makes the save. (9/29/86) "Wildcat" Wendell Cooley vs. "Mr. Perfect" Jerry Stubbs (9/29/86) DWB is on commentary here. Stubbs works over Cooley good here which is setup to a fun Cooley comeback where he unloads on Stubbs with good punches and a savate kick. Cooley would then get a leapfrog then a cradle to get the pinfall. Stubbs jumped Cooley after the match but Cooley came back and hit a bulldog on the concrete floor which was cool. DWB then goes to the ring where he hugs Cooley then attacks him laying him out with clotheslines then stealing the Alabama title. If we have this in better VQ this is extra material. Southeastern Tag Titles: "Luscious" Robert Fuller & "Gorgeous" Jimmy Golden © vs. The Bullet & Steve Armstrong (9/29/86) This is a fight at the bell as there is a lot of hatred between both teams here. Bullet would get the sleeper on Fuller as Sullivan shows up to confront Dr. Tom and then the Headhunters run down which distracts the Studs allowing Bullet to get a pinfall to win the titles. Sullivan and his boys then attack the Armstrongs before the Stud runs down and chases Sullivan out of the area. If we have this in better VQ we need this as an extra. Next we get clips of more brawling with the Studs & Bullet battling Sullivan and his men including the debuting Chris Von Colt & Sheik Abdullah. Again if we have this in better VQ it's extra material. Solie interviews Stud in a TV studio next about this whole war. "Dirty White Boy" Tony Anthony vs. "Wildcat" Wendell Cooley (10/6/86) This is a fight at the bell as Cooley is pissed about DWB turning on him. Cooley would go for the bulldog early but DWB would counter with a big backdrop suplex. DWB is ruthless here working over Cooley forcing juice to come out of his head. Cooley would hit a desperation diving lariat that sent DWB flying to the floor and giving Cooley the chance he needed as they went to the floor where Cooley stole a chair from DWB and clocked him with it. DWB is now juicing as they take it back to the ring where Cooley throws the referee around then DWB does the same as both men just pound on each other as it takes numerous referees to separate them. Very fun action and double juice gets match on the block as a nomination. The Bullet & The Tennessee Stud vs. The New Guinea Headhunters (10/13/86) The Nightmares run down and throw Sullivan's men in the ring so they can all get beat on then join in making it an 8-way battle. Then we get a promo from everyone afterwards. This is great stuff and extra material. "Exotic" Adrian Street vs "Hustler" Rip Rogers (10/13/86) Street grabbing Rip's balls then blowing in his face was a great spot. This is all Street until Brenda passes him an object which he uses to KO Street for the win. Miss Linda gets the referee to check him and he finds the object so he reverses the decision so Rip hits Linda with a big clothesline afterwards. Then we get the great Bullet video again. Next we get clips of the 2-ring battle royal where Steve Armstrong got destroyed. The Tennessee Stud & "Luscious" Robert Fuller vs. Pat Rose & Roy Lee Welch (11/17/86) It's awesome hearing the fans go nuts for the Stud Stable. ALL HELL IS BREAKING LOOSE INDEED. Robert is wearing a cast for his fractured wrist thanks to Sullivan's crew. It's also fun seeing the Stud working the Bullet gimmick after over a year of fighting him. Rose & Welch make this competitive but the Stud's take care of business. The Tennessee Stud & "Luscious" Robert Fuller vs. Pat Rose & Roy Lee Welch (11/17/86) It's awesome hearing the fans go nuts for the Stud Stable. ALL HELL IS BREAKING LOOSE INDEED. Rose & Welch make this competitive but the Stud's take care of business. Continental Heavyweight Title: Kevin Sullivan © vs. The Bullet (12/8/86) Kevin attacks Scott Armstrong on the floor before Bullet comes out and when he does he goes to war with Sullivan who is wearing this wild looking bondage type mask. The Headhunters attack Steve on the floor as the battle continues in the ring so Bullet runs out to help Steve but goes back in to fight Sullivan. Steve would eventually nail Kevin and Bullet would get the pin to win the title but he would get destroyed afterwards and they ripped the mask off the Bullet where you got a quick glimpse of Bob's face which was the first time that happened. Texas Bullrope Match: Dr. Tom Prichard vs. Roy Lee Welch (12/15/86) Good action early seeing Prichard juice from the rope shots. This is pretty good stuff here as Welch is firing away with shots with Prichard taking them and surviving before he drags Welch around the ring to touch 3 corners until Welch tackles him into the 4th corner to win. The one thing about this match I didn't like was there weren't any teases around the turnbuckles as Prichard won on his first attempt. Welch was pissed afterwards and tried to hang Prichard with the rope until Street made the save. No DQ Match: Tennessee Stud & "Luscious" Robert Fuller vs. The New Guinea Headhunters (12/8/86) The Stud's are in street clothes here and came out to Born in the USA by Springsteen. Total brawl here with the Stud's using leather belts which cause the Headhunters to walk out of the ringside area for a countout. They go to join Sullivan with Solie for a promo with the Stud's cutting a promo in retort.
