Posted March 7, 201312 yr comment_5538086 Freddie Miller is hosting this week because Gordon Solie was "on assignment." Freddie brings out Stubbs and talks about the upcoming Alabama title tournament where he tells Stubbs since he threw the belt in the river he wouldn't be able to compete in the tournament. (9/1/86) Next we get clips of Sullivan/Horner from 8/25/86. Then we get promos of Bullet & Street who just turned babyface with clips how the turn took place during a Bullet/Steve Armstrong vs. Fuller/Golden match on 8/25/86. Street runs out ot save Bullet which you could see the crowd going insane as he sent the Studs running. This is a definite extra if we can get the live version. Next we get a promo from Fuller, Golden, & Prichard about this situation. "Mr. Perfect" Jerry Stubbs vs. Zane Smith (9/1/86) I love how Freddie said that Zane was a newcomer to wrestling when he was doing jobs on TBS in 1983. Then we get promos from Brad & Scott Armstrong along with Miss Linda, Prichard, Stubbs, & Debbie Combs who Prichard calls the best looking woman in wrestling...... Next we get clips of Cooley vs. Raider who was Ken Timbs yet again under a mask on 8/25/86. Roy Lee Welch vs. Frankie "The Thumper" Lancaster (9/1/86) Good match with both guys trading the advantage frequently and a match that ends on a left hook by Welch with some tights as well. Then we get a taped promo by Sullivan supposedly at the Tennessee Stud's house in Florida. Sullivan says that Stud has given him complete control of the Stud Stable which is a lie. Extra material. Next we get promos from Brad & Welch. "Exotic" Adrian Street vs. "Gorgeous" Jimmy Golden (9/1/86) This is an interesting matchup. The fans are nuts for Street here especially when he kisses Golden who sells it like he got shot in the face. Golden gets so frustrated with Street that he grabs a steel chair and threatens to bring it in the ring but he drops it and comes back. Golden would use cheapshots and roughhousing tactics to get control of Street but Adrian would come back using his unorthodox style until Dr. Tom runs to the ring where he sprays ether on a rag but Bullet runs down and puts it in his face instead. Robert Fuller would run down but the faces walk tall. Good stuff. Then we get promos from the Studs and Bullet/Street. The next show starts with Stubbs & Sullivan coming out and they have a letter saying that Stubbs will be in the Alabama title tournament. Continental Heavyweight Title: "Mr. Perfect" Jerry Stubbs © vs. Brad Armstrong (9/8/86) Solid match here with both men looking good and working at a fast pace keeping it from dragging. Stubbs would catch Brad on a cross body block and threw him backwards into the referee giving him a chance to throw powder in Brad's eyes. Wendell Cooley would show up and distracted Stubbs allowing Brad to get a schoolboy to win the title. Good match and I'm throwing it up as a low-end pick. Next we get a taped promo with Scott Armstrong who can't wrestle due to an injury and is now on the promotional side of things. Then we get promos from Stubbs & Sullivan. US Jr. Heavyweight Title: "White Lightning" Tim Horner © vs. Roy Lee Welch (9/8/86) Horner starts out strong but Welch would take over keying on Horner's left arm and works it over fiercely. Horner tries to fight back with his good arm but Welch is relentless here until Horner's right hands put him on the mat. Horner gets his O'Connor Roll but Welch cuts it back and uses the tights to get the win. Good match but not enough for a nomination. Next we get a promo from Sullivan. Kevin Sullivan vs. Art Clancy (9/8/86) Total squash. Then we get promos from Prichard, Welch, Horner, & Miss Linda. "Wildcat" Wendell Cooley © vs. Kelly Dillenger (9/8/86) Easy win for Wendell. Next we get promos from Brad & Cooley where he talks about Hulkamania isn't like Wildcat Fever with Brad mouthing wow. Hilarious. Southeastern Tag Titles: "Luscious" Robert Fuller & "Gorgeous" Jimmy Golden © vs. The Bullet & "Exotic" Adrian Street (9/8/86) Street is now a babyface and Sullivan is on commentary here. Bullet & Street stifle the Studs early on especially Street but they would isolate Street for a bit before the Bullet came back in starting a 4-way brawl until Dr. Tom comes out and KO's Bullet. The Studs then jump Street before Prichard kisses and slaps Linda which brings down Steve Armstrong in a neckbrace cleaning house.
October 5, 201311 yr comment_5566236 Freddie Smith seems pretty over his head sitting in for Solie. Next we get clips of Sullivan/Horner The face turn of Street is shown. I agree this is extra stuff. Up next we get a Jerry Stubbs squash We get some more promos and a Roy Lee Welch vs. Lancaster match. I get a kick out of Roy Lee Welch A Kevin Sullivan segment that needs to be an extra. Sullivan has been so good in this setting. The next match is Adrian Street vs. Jimmy Golden. I thought this was so much fun. Streets schtick is so much fun to watch. I smile so much during matches. He's rivaling Jimmy Valiant I want to give a shout out to Golden for being a great foil here. Man if we do a disc of great Street moments this needs to go on. Then we get promos from the Studs and Bullet/Street. 9/13/86 The next show starts with Stubbs & Sullivan coming out and they have a letter saying that Stubbs will be in the Alabama title tournament. Continental Heavyweight Title: "Mr. Perfect" Jerry Stubbs © vs. Brad Armstrong (9/8/86) I enjoyed this and feel this is a low- end pick. When they picked up the pace it really was great. They work a fun headlock spot. I feel Stubbs really made that segment work. Brad seemed content to sit there. He wasn't even cranking on the headlock. Stubbs threw a nasty belly to back suplex. The finish with Cooley added heat to their feud. It was a good match, but I felt at times it lacked focus. The pushing of Scott Armstrong as a business man is kinda odd. US Jr. Heavyweight Title: "White Lightning" Tim Horner © vs. Roy Lee Welch Man this was such a good little match. If they got the time they announced I would nominate it. They only got 6, but announced as almost 10. RLW was just great working over Horner's arm. Plus Horner was such a pro at selling of it. They also worked at a good pace. Another promo from Sullivan. Sullivan sqaush The Armstrong and Cooley promo should go on as an extra. Armstrong shows a lot of personality here. It seems like he's pretty coked out here. Southeastern Tag Titles: "Luscious" Robert Fuller & "Gorgeous" Jimmy Golden © vs. The Bullet & "Exotic" Adrian Street This was a boatload of fun. The Bullet and Street are great characters. Street's shine segment you've got to see to believe. This could be another extra.
