This is a bit of a low end nomination, but I suppose we have to cover 1988 in some fashion no matter how much of a fall it was from the glory days.

Anyone who's followed my stuff on Europe will know that I tend to hate the matches with "boy apprentices" as Brian Crabtree so dodgily referred to them as, but this was a strong bout. Douglas, oddly enough, lasted all the way through to the end of wrestling on ITV and carried McGregor to something good. I can't say I cared anymore for McGregor than I did at the start of the bout, but the action held my attention the whole way through and they popped the crowd.

  • GSR changed the title to [1988-04-06-Joint Promotions] Barry Douglas vs. Ian McGregor
