So I made a deal with John McAdam last Spring as he was getting rid of all his VHS tapes. I said I was interested in the Best of 80s and some 90s tapes. So I now have a huge box of VHS tapes that need to be converted. After talking to Will tonight we decided to see if there would be anyone on here that would like to convert the stuff.

This is what is supposed to be on the 90's tapes. By who knows with McAdam. I got a great deal for the footage because he just wanted to dump the tapes. We just need someone to go thru them and convert them and see what we ended up with.

TAPE # A1863: MATCHES FROM 1993 - 1994

TERRY FUNK & STAN HANSEN v ABDULLAH THE BUTCHER & KEVIN SULLIVAN, RF from Philly, 9/23/93. A wild brawl that goes all over the building, and even up a scaffold erected for an earlier match! Eddie Gilbert interferes, then gets weird by getting on the house mic and announcing he's leaving ECW. He then starts auctioning off his wrestling gear! 3 3/4 ***.

CHRIS CANDIDO v TIM HORNER, RF from Morristown, TN, 8/13/93. 3 1/2 ***.

ROCK & ROLL EXPRESS v BRUISE BROTHERS, RF from Morristown, 8/13/93. 3 1/4 ***.

TAPE # A1866: MATCHES FROM 1993 - 1994

MARATHON MATCH: HEAVENLY BODIES v ROCK & ROLL EXPRESS from Knoxville, 3/13/94. 4 ***.

CLIPS FROM THE SMW FAN WEEK BBQ, highlighted by Jimmy Del Ray setting a fan's hat on fire- WHILE HE WAS WEARING IT!! Trust me, the fan deserved it.

TAPE # A1867: MATCHES FROM 1993 - 1994

SABU v CHRIS BENOIT, raw footage from Lincoln Park, MI, 8/5/94- excellent match, but it's hurt by a small, completely dead crowd. 4 1/4 ***

BRET HART v JERRY LAWLER, raw footage of a Cage Match from Indianapolis, 11/5/93.

SHAWN MICHAELS v MARTY JANNETTY, raw footage from San Francisco, CA, 12/11/93- great match, 4 ***

TAPE # A1868: MATCHES FROM 1993 - 1994

LADDER MATCH: SABU v CHRIS CANDIDO from San Jose, 6/19/94- great match. The ladder breaks early in the bout, which only adds to the excitement, giving Sabu the opportunity to take new, crazier bumps. Sabu tries to break a table, with one problem- THE TABLE WON'T BREAK! He tries to break it five times, but keeps bouncing off it- THIS IS BRUTAL!! Sabu gives J.R. Benson a chair shot to the head, smacking him so hard he has to go to the Emergency Room. 4 1/2***.

TAPE # A1869: MATCHES FROM 1994

HEAVENLY BODIES v ROCK & ROLL EXPRESS, RF, Morristown, TN, 2/5/94- 3 3/4 ***.

BOB ARMSTRONG v DICK MURDOCH, RF from Knoxville, 3/13/94. Pretty good match considering both guys are over 50.

TAPE # A1870: MATCHES FROM 1994

HULK HOGAN v RIC FLAIR, RF from Anaheim, CA, 10/16/94. I'm never surprised when Flair gets cheers, regardless of who he's wrestling (and he deserves them!). But I'm shocked to see Hogan gets BOOED here!! He does his ear-cupping routine, and the boos drown out the cheers!

HULK HOGAN v RIC FLAIR, RF from Oakland, CA, 10/15/94. SAme as above, except THE BOOS FOR HOGAN ARE EVEN LOUDER!! Both matches are good, all thanks to Flair.

TERRY FUNK v TITO SANTANA, RF from Las Vegas, 10/8/94- Funk is great here, pounding Santana with chairs, trashcans, etc. The legendary Funk gets pinned, which makes me wonder about whoever booked this match.†

BILL WILCOX AND FREIGHT TRAIN FULTON do an interview, which turns into a brawl. They trash each other with chairs and trashcans, then Wilcox does a flip onto Fulton- FROM THE TOP OF A ROOF!! THIS IS INCREDIBLE!! Wilcox then tries to drown Fulton in a lake. Fulton escapes, and piledrives Bill THROUGH A WOODEN PICNIC TABLE!! All of this takes place in a state park, with all of the families and picnicers not knowing what to make of this. If there was justice in this world, Wilcox and Fulton would be big stars. A MUST-SEE!!!

LADDER MATCH: TRACY SMOTHERS v CHRIS CANDIDO, from Pikeville, KY, 4/1/94. A sensational, 4 1/2 *** match, with some incredible spots and bumps.

TAPE # A1871: MATCHES FROM 1994

NO DQ, FALLS COUNT ANYWHERE: CACTUS JACK v SABU- there's actually "silent heat" as the crowd sits in awe of the brutality. Sabu pounds Jack with SEVEN HARD SHOTS TO THE HEAD WITH A NON-GIMMICKED BEER BOTTLE, until the glass finally shatters. Sabu takes one of the craziest bumps ever, landing chest-first on the guard rail after messing up a moonsault. Get ready to do lots of cringing when watching this violent spectacle.Excelent match!!

SABU v AL SNOW from Flint, MI, 4/8/94. 4 ***.

TERRY FUNK v ROAD WARRIOR HAWK from Flint, MI, 4/8/94- 3 3/4 ***.

SABU v CACTUS JACK from Philadelphia, 6/24/94. Both come in with injuries, but fight through them for a 4 *** match.

TAPE # A1872: MATCHES FROM 1994

TERRY FUNK v SABU from Taylor, MI, 4/9/94. 3 3/4 ***.

LADDER MATCH: CHRIS CANDIDO v TRACY SMOTHERS from Paintsville, KY, 3/10/94. Fair picture, but a 4 *** match.

HEAVENLY BODIES v ROCK & ROLL EXPRESS from Paintsville, KY, 3/10/94. Fair picture, but a 4 *** match.

A TERRY FUNK "SHOOT" INTERVIEW from 1994.†

NO DQ: MICKEY DOYLE v THE DEATH DEALER, from Lincoln Park, MI, 5/15/94. I've never heard of them either, but it's a wild, 4 *** match.

TEXAS DEATH MATCH: TERRY FUNK v SABU from Lincoln Park, MI, 5/15/94. 4 1/4 ***.

LADDER MATCH: CHRIS CANDIDO v TRACY SMOTHERS from Johnson City, TN, 3/12/94. 3 3/4 ***.

TAPE # A1873: MATCHES FROM 1994

**All matches are camcorder footage.

TERRY FUNK v CHRIS BENOIT from Woodbury, NJ, 4/23/94. 3 1/4 ***.

LADDER MATCH: SABU v AL SNOW from Lincoln Park, MI, 7/23/94. GREAT MATCH, 4 1/2 ***.

SABU v 2-COLD SCORPIO from Munhall, PA, 9/17/94- 3 1/2 ***.

MARATHON MATCH: HEAVENLY BODIES v ROCK & ROLL EXPRESS from Johnson City, TN, 3/12/94. 4 1/4 ***.†

CHRIS CANDIDO v TRACY SMOTHERS from Morristown, TN, 1/8/94- fair picture

HEAVENLY BODIES v ROCK & ROLL EXPRESS from Morristown, TN, 1/8/94- fair picture, but 4 ***.†

STREETFIGHT: BRIAN LEE v DIRTY WHITE BOY from Morristown, TN, 1/8/94- fair picture, 3 1/2 ***.†

HEAVENLY BODIES v ROCK & ROLL EXPRESS from Morristown, TN, 2/5/94- fair picture, 3 3/4 ***.†

TAPE # A1875: MATCHES FROM 1994 - 1995

CHRIS BENOIT v 2-COLD SCORPIO from Fullerton, CA, 11/9/94- good match, kinda short. 3 1/2 ***.

SABU v AL SNOW from La Puente, CA, 9/11/94- If I ever put together a tape of the best matches nobody has ever seen, this would be one of the first bouts on it. Sabu does his usual insane spots, and Snow is his ususal great self. All hell really breaks loose when the legendary TERRY FUNK appears out of nowhere, and starts beating the crap out of both Sabu and Snow! What proceeds is a wild, insane 3-man brawl that is a "must see" for video collectors! The arena looks like a tornado has swept through it, and the brawl goes into the parking lot, all captured on film. 4 3/4 ***.†

MEMPHIS MEMORIES- some really cool, historic clips and footage from the USWA "Legends" card, including the Memphis Hall of Fame induction.†

CAGE MATCH: JERRY LAWLER, BRIAN CHRISTOPHER, JIMMY VALIANT v TOMMY RICH, EDDIE GILBERT & DOUG GILBERT, jip from Nashville, 1994. Christopher and Valiant get handcuffed to the cage, and Lawler takes a beating.†

KOKO WARE v WOLFIE D from Memphis, 1994. I predict that Wolfie will be a star in this biz- good gimmick and wrestler.

BEST OF MEMPHIS 10-MAN ELIMINATION MATCH: Jerry Lawler v Terry Funk v Brian Christopher v Eddie Gilbert v Tommy Rich v Austin Idol v Doug Gilbert v Koko Ware v Jimmy Valiant v Moondog Spot, from Memphis, 3/7/94. The rules are, 2 men wrestle while everyone else is on the apron, and anyone can tag anyone. It's an excellent match, with great wrestling, tons of heat, and excellent booking. 4 ***.

TAPE # A1879: MATCHES FROM 1995 - 1997:†

SABU v DEVON STORM from Woodbury, NJ, 10/28/95. Excellent match, same as the one on #E119, but better video quality. This was an unbeleiveable match that was listed in the Observer as one of 1995's best- even though it was not televised, and wrestled on a small, independent show. 4 1/2 ***.

EDDIE AND DOUG GILBERT do a "shoot" in Japan's W*ING. They pull off their masks before the match, Doug grabs the mic, and starts calling the promoter a piece of sh**. They then pleadge allegiance to All Japan, apparently not knowing that the Japanese, especially Baba, frowns on that sort of thing...

FOOTAGE FROM PHILADELPHIA FAN LUNCHEONS from 1987 - 1988, featuring semi-shoot interviews with Missy Hyatt, Jerry Lawler, and Curt Hennig. Lawler calls Vince McMahon "the worst thing that's ever happened to wrestling". (!!)

Now I am not exactly sure how many best of 80's tapes are in there. There are also about 15 random WCCW tapes in with this stuff and have no clue whats on there.

Here is the matchlisting to all of his best of 80s tapes.

TAPE #A1505: WRESTLING FROM 1980 - 1981

DUSTY RHODES v HARLEY RACE from Florida, 1981. Rare footage of Rhodes defending the NWA belt in his only meaningful (i.e. more than a week-long) title reign. TV time runs out before the finish. I'm guessing this match went long, because we only see about 12 minutes of pacing.

BRUISER & CRUSHER v JESSE VENTURA & ADRIAN ADONIS, about four minutes of highlights of two different matches from Chicago, 1981.

DUSTY RHODES v ASSASSIN #1 jip from Florida, 1981. Dusty defends the NWA title. About seven minutes of the match is shown, where Assassin wins via DQ.

DORY FUNK JR v JACK BRISCO from Florida, 1981. The match never takes place as Assassin #1 comes to ringside before the match, and he and Funk piledrive Brisco outside the ring. This leads to...

DORY FUNK JR v CHARLIE COOK- Cook upsets Dory and wins the Florida title. I don't care- if I paid to see Funk v Brisco, and got stuck seeing Charlie Cook instead....I'd be pissed!

HULK HOGAN v KEN PATERA in an arm-wrestling contest from 1982. Governor Jesse Ventura and Patera give Hogan a beating after Patera loses.

OTTO WANZ tears up phone books on AWA TV. This brings Bobby Heenan, Ken Patera, and Bobby Duncum to ringside, and they wind up pounding on Wanz.

EDDIE GILBERT challenges Killer Karl Krupp out to fight, and gets whipped with a riding crop (Memphis, 1981).

TOMMY RICH v BILL DUNDEE from Memphis, 1981. Rich turns heel (a major shock atthe time) and wins the Southern title. Rich then cements the turn by picking a fight with Jerry Lawler, who was recuperating from a legit broken leg.

GREG VALENTINE v ROCKY JOHNSON with Roddy Piper and Wahoo McDaniel as referees from North Carolina, 1981.

MICHAEL HAYES v ROY WELCH from Alabama, 1980. Hayes refuses to allow the pin, so Ron Fuller runs in after him. Jimmy Golden then sides with Hayes, and tear up Fuller's suit.

MIKE GRAHAM v HIRO MATSUDA jip from Florida, 1981.

THE SHEEPHERDERS jump Jack Brisco (Florida, 1981).

TULLY BLANCHARD v MIKE GRAHAM from Florida, 1981. Graham is supposed to wrestle Dory Funk Jr, but Tully makes a challenge via a slap to the face. Tully scores the upset.

DUSTY RHODES AND ASSASSIN #1 sign a contract for Rhodes to defend the NWA title in a Texas Death Match. Dusty gets popped in the head with a briefcase. Assassin is great here.

JERRY BRISCO v LES THORNTON from Florida, 1981. Thornton's NWA Junior title is not at stake here. Lots of great wrestling here!

JACK BRISCO & CHARLIE COOK v THE ASSASSINS clips from Florida, 1981

SWEET BROWN SUGAR & CHARLIE COOK v THE ASSASSINS, clips from Florida, 1981. Jack Brisco attacks the Assassins with a crutch.

2 hours, picture is generally excellent to very good.

TAPE #A1506: MATCHES FROM 1980 - 1982

MID-SOUTH WRESTLING'S 1981 YEAR IN REVIEW. A recap of all of the top matches and feuds of 1981. Features Ted Dibiase, Dusty Rhodes, Paul Orndorff, Junkyard Dog, The Samoans, Bob Orton Jr, and more. Some great angles and action featured here.†

CAGE MATCH: DUSTY RHODES & IVAN KOLOFF v THE ASSASSINS, brief clips from Atlanta, 1980- an oft-imitated angle where Ole and guest referees Gene Anderson and Ivan Koloff all turn on Rhodes, making it a 5-on-1 situation for Rhodes in the cage.†

IVAN KOLOFF v SCOTT McGHEE from Florida, 1980.†

TED DIBIASE & DICK MURDOCH v PAUL ORNDORFF & BOB ROOP from Shreveport, LA, 1982. A wild match where Bob Orton ends up getting pinned after a ref bump. 3 ***.†

BOB BACKLUND tries to swing Iron Shiek's clubs, and of course, Shiek winds up pounding Backlund with them. Backlund was "injured" here, setting the table to his losing the WWF title to the Shiek a few days later.†

NICK BOCKWINKEL v JERRY LAWLER from Memphis, 1982. Bockwinkel gets DQed for hitting the ref, and Lawler thinks he's won the AWA title. DUH! Lawler had only been wrestling for close to ten years, but he doesn't know that the belts don't change hands on DQs? 3 1/2 ***.†

TULLY BLANCHARD v WAHOO McDANIEL from San Antonio, 1981.†

DORY FUNK JR v STEVE KEIRN from Florida, 1981. Funk destroys Keirn until Mike Graham comes to the rescue- but then Funk wipes the mat with Graham.†

DORY FUNK JR v DUSTY RHODES in an unscheduled brawl. The Assassins run in, and help Dory render Rhodes a bloody mess. The dressing rooms empty, and the ring is filled with brawling wrestlers- good stuff!

RIC FLAIR v GYPSY JOE from Atlanta, 1981.

ABDULLAH THE BUTCHER v SAMOAN SIKA from San Antonio, 1980. Abby sneak attacks Sika and destroys him, using the announcer's table and other assorted foreign objects.†

BRUISER BRODY v JOHN HOWARD- funny, as Brody beats the stew out of his poor opponent.†

RIC FLAIR v RODDY PIPER, jip from Greensboro, 1982. Greg Valentine interferes for Flair, but Wahoo McDaniel saves Piper. The heels wind up KOing Wahoo with a chair.†

GREG VALENTINE v WAHOO McDANIEL from Greensboro, NC, 1982. Good match! Wahoo recovers from the chair shot to win the U.S. title. 3 1/4 ***.†

RODDY PIPER & RICK MARTEL v THE SHEEPHERDERS from Portland, 1980. Martel gets caught in the ropes, which allows the Sheeps to injure Piper's ear. 3 ***.†

KEVIN SULLIVAN v BUZZ SAWYER from Atlanta, 1982.†

MICHAEL HAYES is doing an interview in his dressing room when Stan Hansen and Ole Anderson run in and beat the tar out of Hayes. From Georgia, 1982.†

Tape also has some great promos from Ric Flair, Bruiser Brody, Ken Patera, Gino Hernandez, Tully Blanchard, Bob Backlund (trust me, it's a classic), Dusty Rhodes, Stan Hansen, Michael Hayes, Junkyard Dog, Greg Valentine, Paul Orndorff, Tommy Rich, Ole Anderson, Masked Superstar, Super Destroyer, Magnificent Muraco, Eddy Mansfield, Mr. Wrestling II, Buzz Sawyer, Leroy Brown, Terry Gordy, Tito Santana, Sonny King, and more. This tape has some GREAT early eighties wrestling- I really miss these days. 4 hours.†

TAPE #A1507: MATCHES FROM 1980 - 1983:†

DUSTY RHODES & OLE ANDERSON v THE ASSASSINS in a Cage Match from Atlanta, 1980. Gene Anderson and Ivan Koloff are the referees. All hell breaks loose when both Ole and Gene turn on Rhodes, making it five against one in the cage! Ole does a great interview.

STAN LANE & DENNIS CONDREY v TERRY TAYLOR & DAVE WHITE from Atlanta, 1980- Lane and Taylor are just starting.

JERRY LAWLER v RICKY MORTON in a No DQ Match from Louisville, KY, 1979. Morton looks completely different than he did in his heyday.†

EDDIE GILBERT & RICKY MORTON v ATSUSHI ONITA & MASA FUCHI in one of the famous "conscession stand brawls", this one from Tupelo, MS- this is totally insane, with every foreign object that you could imagine being found in a kitchen being used! Highlight is when Morton potatoes Onita with a glass mustard jar, causing Onita's ear to just about explode, with blood pouring out all over. This is a must see, 5 *** brawl!!

TERRY FUNK v JUMBO TSURUTA from Japan, 1982- 3 3/4 ***

EL GRAN HAMADA v BABYFACE from Japan, 1982.

TATSUMI FUJINAMI v ASHURA HARA from Japan, 1983.

TATSUMI FUJINAMI/KENGO KIMURA v RIKI CHOSHU/KANTARO HOSHINO, 1983- 3 1/2 ***

ANDRE THE GIANT v STAN HANSEN from Japan, 1981- This was when Andre could still wrestle, before his broken leg occurred- his best match ever. 3 3/4 ***

TIGER MASK (Sayama) v BRAZO DE PLATA from Mexico, 1981- Some marvelous high spots here- 4 ***

TERRY FUNK v JERRY LAWLER in the "Empty Arena" match from 1981- 5 ***.

BLACK TIGER v EL GRAN HAMADA from Japan, 1983- 3 1/2 ***

TIGER MASK (Sayama) v BLACK TIGER from Japan, 1983- another super bout with great high spots- 4 1/4 ***

TIGER MASK (Sayama) v VILLANO III from Mexico, 1983. 3 1/2 ***.

TIGER MASK (Sayama) v EL GRAN HAMADA from Mexico, 1983- One of the best matches in Sayama's too-short wrestling career. 4 1/2 *** 4 HOURS.

TAPE #A1508: MATCHES FROM 1980 - 1983:

KERRY & KEVIN VON ERICH v MICHAEL HAYES & TERRY GORDY, from Dallas, 1983- good match, 3 1/2***

RODDY PIPER v JAY YOUNGBLOOD, time limit draw from Mid-Atlantic TV, 10/81. 3***

LUMBERJACK MATCH: KERRY VON ERICH v TERRY GORDY, Dallas, 4/83.

RIC FLAIR v DAVID VON ERICH, from Dallas, 11/83. Excellent match, 4 ***

ADRIAN ADONIS v PEDRO MORALES, jip from New York, 2/82. Adonis, who may have been the #1 wrestler in the world at this point, carries Morales to a 3*** bout.

ADRIAN ADONIS & JESSE VENTURA v RICK McGRAW & STEVE TRAVIS, from WWF TV, 6/82. Adonis & Ventura are headed out of the WWF, which explains why they go to a DDQ v a mid-card team.

TIGER MASK v MR. SIATO from WWF TV, 12/82. Tiger (Sayama) is incredible, and the crowd loves him- so much for the idea that the Northeast is not friendly to the smaller guys. Tiger shoots about 10 feet aoutside the ring to deliver a flying bodypress, and Siato delivers some wicked suplexes. I give it 4***, although it's a fairly short TV match.

NICK BOCKWINKEL v JERRY LAWLER from Memphis, 1982. Bockwinkel holds both the AWA and Southern titles, and puts the Southern belt up v Lawler's hair. Good idea, as it "proves" Lawler can pin Nick in a title match. 3 1/2 ***

JERRY LAWLER v DUTCH MANTELL- funny, as rookie manager Jim Cornette's stupidity costs Dutch the match! 3***

BILL DUNDEE v STEVE KEIRN from Memphis, 12/82. Jim Morris (aka Hillbilly Jim) runs in and helps Dundee bloody Keirn.†

ROAD WARRIORS v JERRY LAWLER & AUSTIN IDOL from Memphis, 1983. Not good, as the Roadies are still greener than grass here.

RIC FLAIR v GREG VALENTINE from Raleigh, NC, 1983. Flair challenges for Greg's U.S. title, but goes nuts and gets DQed for smashing Greg's face with the belt.

BRUISER BRODY & STAN HANSEN v TERRY & DORY FUNK JR from Japan, 1982. A great, classic match. 4 1/2 ***

RIC FLAIR v AUSTIN IDOL, jip from Alabama, 1982. The Dusty finish makes an appearance in 'Bama, as the ref is KOed, another ref counts Flair out and award Idol the NWA belt, but the original ref reverses it.

HULK HOGAN v ADRIAN ADONIS from Minneapolis, 10/17/82. Adonis is sensational. 3 ***

BARRY WINDHAM v BOBBY JAGGERS from Tampa, 1980. Excellent match, all action. I used to get CWF on cable during this period, and Jaggers was my favorite wrestler- seeing this match reminded me why. Too bad he never made it big- but he never showed much when Crockett picked him up in 1986. Jaggers bloodies Barry with his loaded elbowpad. 3 3/4 ***

DUSTY RHODES & JACK BRISCO v DICK SLATER & BOBBY JAGGERS in an unscheduled brawl from Florida, 1980. Jaggers busts Dusty's head open with the loaded elbow, good stuff!

BARRY WINDHAM v MR. SIATO, clips from Tampa, 1980.

HARLEY RACE v DUSTY RHODES, clips from the "Last Tangle in Tampa", 1980. The video of this match is poor, but it's a historic match, so I kept it. Dusty wins the only fall in this 2 out of 3 fall match, and fails to capture the NWA title. He then promises to never wrestle for the title again as long as Race held it- of course, he won it from Race a year later, after Race "begged" Rhodes to wrestle him, on the grounds that wrestling Dusty raised Harley's credibility. Nice ego, Dust.†

4 hours.

TAPE #A1509: WRESTLING FROM 1980 - 1985

RIC FLAIR v MAGNUM TA, jip from Chicago's Comiskey Park, 1985. Good match, but only about five minutes are shown.

HULK HOGAN v RANDY SAVAGE from Boston, 1985. Excellent match! Hulk juices big time after getting whacked with the championship belt.

TERRY FUNK does a GREAT interview, challenging Dusty Rhodes to a Bullrope Match.

DUSTY RHODES v MR. PANHANDLE, from Georgia, 1980- truly a classic. Rhodes is doing well until Panhandle throws a wicked forearm...and there's only one guy who can wallop a guy with a forearm like that- Dory Funk Jr! Gordon and the fans go nuts when they realize it's Funk under the mask.

DICK SLATER v KILLER KARL KOX from Knoxville, 1980. About four minutes are shown of a total brawl.

JACK BRISCO v AUSTIN IDOL from an outdoor show in Mobile, Alabama in 1980. Idol scores the upset in a 20 minute match.

DUTCH MANTELL v TROY T. TYLER from Knoxville, 1980. Good match wher Tyler wins the Southeast TV title.

DUTCH MANTELL v DON DIAMOND from Knoxville, 1980. Dutch and The Matador injure Troy T. Tyler before the rematch for the TV title, so Diamond defends the belt in his place.

JACK BRISCO v DON MURACO from North Carolina, 1982. Good match. Roddy Piper attacks Brisco for the DQ.

RODDY PIPER AND DORY FUNK JR do a great series of interviews from 1983. Piper prods the normally stoic Funk into a crazy mode!

JERRY LAWLER v KEN PATERA from Memphis, 1983. Patera puts up his Pan-Am Games medal v Lawler's Southern title. Jimmy Hart interferes for a Patera win. Good match.

JERRY LAWLER & AUSTIN IDOL v THE ASSASSINS from Memphis, 1983. Patera interferes, and the heels win.

BRUISER BRODY v KAMALA from Kansas City, 1983. Good brawl where about seven minutes are shown before TV time expires.

BRUISER BRODY v TED DIBIASE from Kansas City, 1983. About five minutes are shown of what I would consider a dream match, and we actually get to see the finish!

BOB BACKLUND tearfully announces that he won't be able to wrestle in his scheduled MSG rematch v Iron Shiek. He's replaced by Hulk Hogan, and wrestling history is made.

2 hours, picture is generally excellent to very good.

TAPE #A1510: MATCHES FROM 1980 - 1985:

MR. OLYMPIA v RON STARR from Alabama. Arn Anderson runs in, but Olympia beats him with a leather strap.†

HAIR MATCH: HACKSAW DUGGAN v HERCULES HERNANDEZ, from New Orleans, 10/84. Special ref Steve Williams turns heel, costing Duggan the match. But when the razor comes out, the babyfaces run in, and try to shave Jim Cornette's head instead! But there's a problem- the electric razor doesn't work! Fearing a fan riot, Bobby Fulton runs to the dressing room, and emerges with a 29c Bic disposable razor! Poor Cornette- they don't even have scissors. They just GRIND the razor against his head until the hair comes off. This is BRUTAL.

A CLASSIC MOMENT from Mid-South Wrestling as Jim Cornette, wearing a mask, joins the Midnight Express in signing a contract to wrestle the Fantastics. Bobby Eaton cracks The Fantasticsin the head with what my have been chairshots of the deacde! Great angle!

BUTCH REED objects to Brickhouse Brown calling himslf "Brickhouse", and Brown somehow ends up arm wrestling Buddy Landell. It's classic Budro...

BUNKHOUSE MATCH: DUSTY RHODES & HACKSAW DUGGAN v BUTCH REED & HERCULES HERNANDEZ from Tulsa, August 26, 1984. Dusty does a clean job!!

BILL WATTS buries Junkyard Dog for leaving Mid-South for the WWF.†

FEUD HIGHLIGHTS of the Midnight Express v Rock & Roll Express.

TERRY GORDY & BUDDY ROBERTS v KEVIN SULLIVAN & MIKE DAVIS from Georgia, 11/80. Complete with a classic series of skits revolving around special referee Austin Idol, and his 'four flat tires".†

OLE ANDERSON destroys an award plaque belonging to Tony Atlas.

BOBBY HEENAN destroys Buck Zumhoff's radio. Heenan is great here, and Zumhoff is horrible- who's surprised?

TERRY GORDY & KEVIN SULLIVAN v AUSTIN IDOL & KEVIN SULLIVAN, clips from Atlanta, 11/80.†

DUSTY RHODES v TERRY FUNK, clips of a wild brawl from Atlanta, 1980.

DUSTY RHODES v OLE ANDERSON, clips from Atlanta, 1980. Alexis Smirnoff helps Ole administer a beating.

BOBBY EATON v STEVE OLSONOSKI, clips from Atlanta, 1980.

HARLEY RACE v TONY ATLAS, clips from Atlanta, 1980.

BRUISER BRODY does a commercial for a St. Louis car dealer.

RIC FLAIR v HARLEY RACE from Kansas City, 1984. Missing Link attacks and bloodies up Race before the match. Typically great match between two legends. Missing Link breaks up a pin and saves Flair's title, 3 1/2 ***.†

TERRY FUNK has words with Billy Jack Haynes on the set of Championship Wrestling from Florida.

KEVIN SULLIVAN v DUTCH MANTELL from Memphis, 1981.†

TERRY FUNK goes wild at the Memphis studio, beating up jobbers and swearing revenge on Jerry Lawler for the infamous Empty Arena match.†

HILARIOUS SKIT as Lance Russell interviews Jimmy Hart and his charges at a "First Family Picnic"- Hart seems to be half in the bag!

LOSER LEAVES TEXAS CAGE MATCH: KERRY VON ERICH v MICHAEL HAYES, jip from Dallas, 11/25/83. Great match, and a brilliant finish. 4 ***.†

RICKY STEAMBOAT v DICK SLATER from Mid-Atlantic TV, 1984. Good match, no finish shown. 3 3/4 ***.

ARN ANDERSON & JERRY STUBBS v BOB ARMSTRONG & RON FULLER clips from Alabama, 1984. The heels piledrive the ref after the match.†

ARN ANDERSON & JERRY STUBBS v BOB ARMSTRONG & RON FULLER from Alabama, 1984. Fuller turns heel on Armstrong.†

ARN ANDERSON & JERRY STUBBS v BOB & SCOTT ARMSTRONG clips from Alabama, 1984. Ron Fuller interferes.

TERRY GORDY v KAMALA from Ft. Worth, 1984.†

RIC FLAIR v MICHAEL HAYES from Dallas, April 1984. Flair has Missing Link in his corner to offset Buddy Roberts. One Flair / Link connection is weird enough, but two on a single tape?

HACKSAW DUGGAN v KAMALA, jip from Jackson, MS, May 1985. Akbar burns Duggan with a giant fireball!†

ROCK & ROLL EXPRESS v DIRTY WHITE BOYS from Mid-South TV, 1985.†

ROCK & ROLL EXPRESS v TED DIBIASE & STEVE WILLIAMS from Houston, 1985. 3 1/2 ***.†

THE FAMOUS ANGLE WHERE MAGNIFICENT MURACO knocks down Gordon Solie, and Roddy Piper turns babyface by coming to the rescue!

JAKE ROBERTS v THE SNOWMAN from New Orleans, 6/1/85. Muhammad Ali accompanies Snowman to the ring, and Jake sells some punches for him.

A SERIES OF JIM CORNETTE INTERVIEWS from World Class, revolving around the stupid "green jacket" angle he did with Scott Casey.†

6 hours, the picture quality would be very good except for tracking fault at the top of the screen, which is OK at times, but really annoying at other times. Still, this is a great tape, and this stuff is definitely worth seeing.

TAPE #A1511: MATCHES FROM 1980 - 1988:

BRUNO SAMMARTINO v LARRY ZYBYSKO, clips from Philadelphia, 1980. A wild brawl.

BRUNO SAMMARTINO v LARRY ZYBYSKO, jip from Philadelphia, 1980. Another brawl!

HULK HOGAN v RODDY PIPER from New York's Madison Square Garden, 1985. This was the famous "War to Settle the Score" that set up WM1.

HULK HOGAN v TERRY FUNK from Philadelphia, 1985.

TERRY FUNK v JUNKYARD DOG from Boston, 1986.

RANDY SAVAGE v RICKY STEAMBOAT from Philadelphia, 1985.

LUMBERJACK MATCH: BRUNO SAMMARTINO v RANDY SAVAGE from Boston, 1987.

RANDY SAVAGE v TED DIBIASE from New York, 1988. Excellent match!

RANDY SAVAGE v TED DIBIASE from New York, 1988. Another excellent match!

CAGE MATCH: RANDY SAVAGE v TED DIBIASE from New York, 1988. One more excellent match!

RANDY SAVAGE v TED DIBIASE from Boston, 1988. VERY good, but not at the level of their New York stuff.

RANDY SAVAGE v TED DIBIASE from Philadelphia, 1988. VERY good, but not at the level of their New York stuff.

TAPE #A1512: MATCHES FROM 1981:

HARLEY RACE v TOMMY RICH, jip from Augusta, GA- The most unlikely NWA champion ever is crowned as Rich pins Race to become champ (for 5 days).

TERRY GORDY & BUDDY ROBERTS v TED DIBIASE & JUNKYARD DOG, jip from Atlanta

COVERAGE OF VERNE GAGNE's RETIREMENT MATCH v Nick Bockwinkel- interesting as the mayors of both Minneapolis and St. Paul declare "Verne Gagne Day", and the Governor gives him an award. Don Rickles, of all people sends in an interview for Verne- apparently, these folks don't realize what a turd he was.

THE AWA ACTUALLY RUNS AN ANGLE as Shiek Adnan El Kaissie's bellydancer flirts with Tito Santana, so Shiek knocks the girl down and bloodies Tito with his sword- I never said it was a good angle.

TERRY GORDY & BUDDY ROBERTS v TED DIBIASE & JYD, jip from Atlanta. The Birds pound JYD with his own chain in this No DQ match.

VERNE GAGNE v NICK BOCKWINKEL FROM St. Paul, 5/10/81- this was Verne's retirement match, see above. Verne retires as AWA champ, and the title is vacated. The AWA then announces that it doesn't want to hold a tournament so they announce that they're HANDING the belt to Bockwinkel! I remember reading that in the magazines, and thinking what a joke the AWA was.

SOME GREAT FOOTAGE OF BRUISER BRODY, wrestling and interviewing in Georgia.

KEN PATERA v TOMMY RICH, jip from Atlanta- Patera wins the Georgia Title.

MIL MASCARAS v SGT. SLAUGHTER from Landover, MD. Sarge was one of the best wrestlers in the world at this point, even he can't have a decent match with the lazy, overrated Mascaras.

MAGNIFICENT MURACO v PEDRO MORALES from Philly- Muraco wins the I.C. belt by KOing Morales with brass knux- good match, all thanks to Muraco.

TERRY GORDY & JIMMY SNUKA v BUTCH REED & GEORGE WELLS, TV match from Atl.

FOOTAGE OF MICHAEL HAYES, who has just turned babyface in Georgia- Hayes is feuding with Gordy & Snuka, and does some great interviews.

AS A DEMONSTRATION OF KEN PATERA'S STRENGTH, Snuka piles 3 cinderblocks on Patera's chest, and smashes them with a sledgehammer. A hilarious scene occurs after Gordon Solie carefully explains the dangers of the exhibit, Terry Gordy grabs the mike and tells the fans to try this at home!!

THE MOONDOGS v RICK MARTEL & TONY GAREA- Tony & Rick regain the WWF tag titles.

JESSE VENTURA & ADRIAN ADONIS v JIM BRUNZELL & GREG GAGNE- Adonis & Ventura win the AWA tag belts by injuring Gagne with the piledriver. No offense to the AWA fans out there, but this group was damn lucky they operated without real competition, as this stuck me as a really lame territory.

HULK HOGAN v SONNY ROGERS- they didn't know it, but the AWA would never be the same, as Hulk debuts as a heel. Hulk would soon turn babyface, and lead the AWA to some of it's biggest gates- and then help destroy it when he jumped to the WWF in 1984, and drove the AWA out of most of it's key cities.

TOMMY RICH v MASKED SUPERSTAR, jip from Atlanta- Rich bleeds, what a shocker.

MASKED SUPERSTAR v BUTCH REED, from the TV studio in Atlanta.

NICK BOCKWINKEL v SHIEK ADNAN EL-KAISSIE, jip from St. Paul- a good brawl, but leave it to the AWA to push the repackaged Billy White Wolf as it's killer heel.

BRUNO SAMMARTINO announces his upcoming retirement match v George Steele, ironically held in it's first card ever at the New Jersey Meadowlands. I remember being pissed that the WWF couldn't come up with a better opponent for this historic bout than the pathetic George "The Animal" Steele.

ANDRE THE GIANT & MICHAEL HAYES v TERRY GORDY & JIMMY SNUKA, jip from Atlanta.

KEVIN VON ERICH v JIMMY SNUKA, from the TV studio in Atlanta- both Hayes and Gordy interfere for the DDQ- very ironic that Von Erich was brought to Georgia to regularly team with Hayes v Gordy & Snuka.

NICK BOCKWINKEL v SHIEK ADNAN EL-KAISSIE- Nick is reduced to a bloody mess

RIC FLAIR makes his first appearance on WTBS as NWA champ- A Legend is Born

This is a pretty good tape- probably the best part is Bruiser Brody continually wreaking havoc on the WTBS set. The quality ranges from very good to fair, but everything is watchable. 4 hours.

TAPE #A1513: MATCHES FROM 1981 - 1982:†

SGT. SLAUGHTER v WAHOO McDANIEL,Mid-Atlantic TV, 1981- Sarge defends the U.S. Title.

RODDY PIPER v JACK BRISCO from Mid-Atlantic TV, 1981.

JERRY LAWLER & BILL DUNDEE v MICHAEL HAYES & TERRY GORDY in a 2 out of 3 fall match from Memphis TV, 1978- This is a must see for you Freebird fans, as a 19-year old Hayes shows some of the charisma and flair that made him a superstar in the 1980's. It's also funny to see Gordy with a bleached-blond hair, and Lawler with a lame 1970's perm.

BOB BACKLUND v GREG VALENTINE in a cage match from Philly, Jan 1982. Good match, but WWF cage matches have always been disappointing, with the winner being the first to walk out the door.

TERRY FUNK v JERRY LAWLER in the "Empty Arena" match from 1981- Funk whined that everyone in Memphis sided with Lawler, giving the King an unfair advantage. So he challenges Lawler to show up at the Mid-South Coliseum to wrestle with no fans, no commission and no referee present. This was an incredible, violent spectacle, and Lance Russell does a great job with the commentary. 5 *****

ADRIAN ADONIS v PEDRO MORALES from New York, Feb 1982- Adrian carries the pathetic intercontinental champ to a good match. 3 1/2 ***.†

BOB BACKLUND v ADRIAN ADONIS in a Lumberjack Match from Landover, MD, Feb 1982. Good match thanks to Adonis. 3 1/4 ***.

MAGNIFICENT MURACO v PEDRO MORALES in a Texas Death Match from New York, Jan 1982. Morales regains the I-C title in a good, bloody brawl. 3 1/2 ***.

BOB BACKLUND v GREG VALENTINE from New York, Oct 1981- This was a weird finish as Backlund pins Valentine after a ref bump, but the still dazed ref raises Valentine's hand and declared him the new WWF champ! After further review, the "New York State Athletic Commission" declares the title vacant (only in New York, as Backlund defended the belt in other cities), and orders a rematch to declare a champion. The original plan was to have Valentine win the rematch, and have DAVID SAMMARTINO groomed to be WWF champ! Thank God they ditched that plan.

PAT PATTERSON v KING KONG MOSCA from New York, Oct 1981.

Some great early 80's wrestling! 4 HOURS

AN INCREDIBLE TERRY FUNK INTERVIEW- Terry goes nuts, and pours DIRT AND MOTOR OIL all over his head and body in attempt to see what it's like to be a "dirty, greasy Floridian"!! Don't mention this interview to Terry, as the motor oil wouldn't wash out of his hair, and he had to shave his head!

BOBBY JAGGERS v KILLER KOX (clips)

DUSTY RHODES & DICK MURDOCH v KILLER KHAN & KIM DUK, from Japan.

BUNKHOUSE MATCH: DUSTY RHODES v BEN HOVEY- one of those great Florida angles- the jobber Hovey challenges Rhodes, and Rhodes destroys him. It's later revealed that Dory Funk Jr is behind it all. Trust me, they knew how to sell this.†

TULLY BLANCHARD v MIKE GRAHAM- good match, 3 ***.†

MIKE GRAHAM & KEN LUCAS v THE GRAPPLERS, jip- The Grapplers injure Graham, so Rick McGraw takes his place.†

TULLY BLANCHARD v BOB SWEETAN- Sweetan wins the Southwest title in a bloody match.†

TULLY BLANCHARD & GINO HERNANDEZ v GRAPPLERS- Tully and Gino win the tag titles, but Tully turns on Gino after the match. Tully v Gino was supposed to headline this territory for the rest of the year, but "No-show Gino" blew it off.†

ADRIAN ADONIS v BOB ORTON JR- finals of the tournament for the "Undisputed World's Championship". I guess having a slot on USA Network went to promoter Joe Blanchard's head.

THE SHEEPHERDERS v THE GRAPPLERS- great angle, as The Sheeps offer Don Carson $5,000 to turn on the Grapplers, with a $100 deposit- he takes it, and The Sheeps win the tag titles. Then the Sheepherders turn on Carson!

FUNNY BUT GROSS angle where Scott Casey dumps a bucket of pig...uh, droppings on Bobby Jaggers' head.†

4 1/2 hours, very good picture throughout.

TAPE #A1515: MATCHES FROM 1981 - 1984:

NO DQ: BRUISER BRODY v KAMALA, from Kansas City, 1983. Good brawl, but ends in a double-countout. Nice rip-off finish.

RIC FLAIR v BRUISER BRODY, from St. Louis, 1/6/84. About 5 mins shown, Brody apparently wins the NWA title, and the crowd goes WILD! Of course, the decision is reversed.

BRUISER BRODY v KAMALA from Kansas City, 1983. Kamala sneak attacks Brody, and the Bruiser takes a rare beating, then gets some revenge in a bloody post-match brawl. Brody juices like crazy, whole thing is 4***.

HARLEY RACE v GIANT BABA from St. Louis, 1984. Race does a home-turf job for Baba.

BUZZ SAWYER v LUKE GRAHAM from Kansas City, 1983. Buzz juices.†

HULK HOGAN v JOHN STUDD, jip from St. Louis, 1984. Studd is managed by Roddy Piper, who causes Hulk to get counted out. Hogan then goes after Piper, but takes a 2-on-1 beating from Piper and Studd.†

FUNNY INTERVIEW with the "New Fabulous Ones", Tommy Rich & Eddie Gilbert. The New Fabs are babyfaces with a problem- the fans hate them! Here, Tommy basically begs the fans not to, and tries to get some sympathy. Tommy should have tried getting a haircut and shedding some of the extra weight he saddled himself with.

JERRY LAWLER v JOS LEDUC in an arm wrestling contest with a strange stip- the winner will push the loser's hand into a lit candle! Lawler's losing, but he saves himself by throwing fire into Leduc's face!

TAPE #A1516: WRESTLING FROM 1982 & 1983

COUNTRY WHIPPING MATCH: KERRY VON ERICH v MICHAEL HAYES from Ft. Worth. Good match, but since Bruiser Brody and Terry Gordy are at ringside, so you can guess the finish.

BRUISER BRODY v TERRY GORDY from Ft. Worth. As good as you'd think!

DAVID VON ERICH v TERRY GORDY from Ft. Worth. Excellent match!

KEVIN VON ERICH v JIMMY GARVIN from Ft. Worth. Not to overpraise the WCCW matches, but these are from about March 1983, when the territory had the combination of "hot" and "fresh". Anothder good match.

CHRIS ADAMS v JIMMY GARVIN from Ft. Worth, 1983. Good match.

DYNAMITE KID & BUDDY ROSE v BILLY JACK HAYNES & CURT HENNIG from Portland, 1983. Good match, the heels turn on Buddy Rose afterward.

BRUISER BRODY v KAMALA from Ft. Worth, 1983. A wild brawl!

This is one of those tapes that I've had in storage forever and shouldn't have. 4 hours, the picture quality is good / fair, very watchable but likely a 3rd generation copy.

TAPE #A1517: MATCHES FROM 1982 - 1984:†

DYNAMITE KID & THE ASSASSIN v CURT HENNIG & BUDDY ROSE, 2 out of 3 falls from Portland, December 1983. 3 1/2 ***.†

DYNAMITE KID, RIP OLIVER & THE ASSASSIN v CURT HENNIG, BUDDY ROSE & BILLY JACK HAYNES from Portland, December 1983. Please note that the picture quality of both Portland matches is below par.†

RIC FLAIR v JERRY LAWLER from Memphis, 1982. I think this was Flair's only appearance in the Memphis studio, and it's a great one. Lawler does a great job snowing Flair into defending the NWA title against him on TV. The 10 minute time limit runs out as Flair has Lawler snared in the figure-four. Flair demands that the match continue, but Lawler makes a comeback, and Flair runs for his life. A 3 1/4 *** match, but this is one of the very best angles I've ever seen!

RIC FLAIR v DUSTY RHODES, clips from the Orange Bowl in Miami, June 1984. Rhodes pins Flair to claim the "Lords of the Ring" trophy.

MIKE DAVIS debuts on Florida TV as "Dusty Rhodes"- A FANTASTIC PARODY OF RHODES!!! One of the most creative angles I've ever seen, and the promotion went nowhere with it.†

RIC FLAIR v SCOTT McGHEE from Florida, 1984- things aren't going well for the legendary Flair on this tape, as he doesn't take the mid-carder McGhee seriously, and gets pinned.†

RON BASS v ONE MAN GANG from Florida, 1984- Black Bart helps Bass, but Pez Whatley evens the sides, and it turns into a studio brawl.

RON BASS v SCOTT McGHEE from Tampa, 1984- McGhee defends the Florida title in a matter of seconds!

KEVIN SULLIVAN v BLACKJACK MULLIGAN in a "Hangman's Noose" match, where the idea is to HANG YOUR OPPONENT. Combine that with Sullivan's circus-like ring entrance, and it's no wonder so many long-time Florida fans were turned off.†

RIC FLAIR v GINO HERNANDEZ, jip from Ft. Worth, 1984. Gino is about to win the NWA title (right...) when Stella Mae French cracks him with a wooden plank.†

HULK HOGAN trains Gene Okerlund for an upcoming mixed match. Kind of funny, but this was the kind of things that drove the purists nuts.

ROAD WARRIORS v FABULOUS ONES, jip from Memphis, 1984. Good action.†

GENE OKERLUND AND ADRIAN ADONIS take a tour of New York City's Bowery section. A silly, yet entertaining segment.

JERRY LAWLER v RICK RUDE (clips). Lawler takes a post-match whipping.†

TOMMY RICH & JACKIE FARGO v RICK RUDE & KING KONG BUNDY, clips from Memphis. Eddie Gilbert KOs Rich with an object. Eddie explains his actions, and he's obviously the heel- but he's getting cheered anyway.†

FREEBIRD BUDDY ROBERTS v DAVID MANNING, from Ft. Worth, 1984. Roberts wrestles with one arm tied behind his back.†

TERRY GORDY v KILLER KHAN from Dallas, 1984. Good brawl with the Freebirds and Akbar's men all getting involved. 3 1/2 ***.†

NO DQ: BUDDY ROSE v MATT BORNE from Portland, 1984. Excelelnt match- I'm surprised Borne didn't get a bigger push in the territories. 3 3/4 ***.†

MAGNUM T.A. v KILLER KHAN from Oklahoma City, May 27, 1984. Buddy Landell and Ernie Ladd KO Dog, and try to tar and feather him. But the babyfaces make the save, and Budro ends up getting feathered.†

STREETFIGHT: JUNKYARD DOG v BUTCH REED from New Orleans, January 16, 1984.†

Plus inteviews with Jimmy Hart, Michael Hayes, Jerry Lawler, Eddie Gilbert, Rick Rude, Tommy Rich, Stan Stasiak, Hacksaw Duggan, and more.†

4 hours, quality generally ranges from very good to good.†

TAPE #A1518: MATCHES FROM 1982 - 1984:

EDDIE GILBERT accepts the WFIA's "Tag Team of the Year" award for himself and Tommy Rich. Gilbert had split with Rich, and uses the presentation as a forum to run Rich down. Tommy then comes from the back and beats the crap out of Gilbert, rendering him a bloody mess. Eddie then starts crying, and apologizes for everything he'd done to Tommy (he's very convincing!). Rich comes out and gives Gilbert a hug...and then Eddie destroys Rich! The Memphis studio floor is covered with blood! Even better than it sounds- a 5 *** ANGLE!!!

TERRY FUNK v STAN HANSEN from Japan. A great brawl! 4 ***.

TIGER MASK (Sayama) v BLACK TIGER- In the storyline, Black Tiger was supposed to be the "evil brother" of Tiger Mask. Sayama was always great, 3 3/4 ***.†

TIGER MASK v STEVE WRIGHT- 3***.

RIC FLAIR v BRUISER BRODY from St. Louis, 1984. Crusher Blackwell saves Flair's NWA title.†

THE COBRA v ISAMU TERANISHI, from Japan- 3 1/2 ***.

DYNAMITE KID v KUNIAKI KOBAYASHI- 3 3/4 ***.†

DYNAMITE KID & DAVEY BOY SMITH v THE BOBRA & BLACK TIGER- really great match with all kinds of wild, innovative spots. 4 1/2 ***.†

DYNAMITE KID v THE COBRA- 4 ***.†

ABDULLAH THE BUTCHER v BAD NEWS ALLEN, from Japan. Uh, we have a slight drop in match quality here...

HULK HOGAN & MIKE SHARPE v ANTONIO INOKI & TATSUMI FUJINAMI- Fujinami makes this a decent contest.

THE COBRA v HIRO SIATO- 3 3/4 ***.†

HARLEY RACE v CRUSHER BLACKWELL from St. Louis. Blackwell pins Race to win the Missouri title. The Mizzou title was still considered a "springboard" to the NWA belt at this point, but I think the springboard broke when Blackwell landed on it.†

RIC FLAIR v KERRY VON ERICH from St. Louis. 4 ***.†

JERRY LAWLER v BOBBY EATON from Memphis. Bobby had the look of a future star at this point. 3 ***.†

Excellent tape with a little bit of everything from the early 80's. THANKS, JB!

4 hours, quality is very good / good.†

TAPE #A1519: WRESTLING FROM 1983 - 1986:

BUNKHOUSE MATCH: DUSTY RHODES, RICKY STEAMBOAT & DICK SLATER v TULLY BLANCHARD, RON BASS & BLACK BART from Mid-Atlantic TV, 1984. TV time runs out, but we swew 11 minutes of great action.

ADRIAN ADONIS v BOB ORTON JR from Houston from May 21, 1983- finals of the tournament for the "Undisputed World's Championship". I guess having a slot on USA Network went to promoter Joe Blanchard's head.

JIMMY SNUKA & ARNOLD SKOALAND v MAGNIFICENT MURACO & LOU ALBANO from New York's Madison Square Garden, December 1983. Not as bad as you might think, as Muraco really tries hard.

BRET HART & JIM NIEDHART v BRITISH BULLDOGS from 1986. Good match, but basically a backdrop to the Danny Davis heel ref angle.

RANDY SAVAGE v JAKE ROBERTS from Saturday Night's Main Event, 1986. A rare heel v heel match, and a pretty good one.

KEVIN VON ERICH v TERRY GORDY from Dallas, 1983. The Freebirds try to break Kevin's claw hand.

JIMMY GARVIN v CHRIS ADAMS from Dallas, 1983. As good as these matches were, I was so tired of seeing these two wrestle by the middle of 1984. This one took place right after the Garvin / Sunshine split, so that's the focus.

STREETFIGHT: RON GARVIN v BIG BUBBA ROGERS from NWA's World Wide Wrestling, 1986. TV time expires before the finish.

TATSUMI FUJINAMI, AKIRA MAEDA & KENGO KIMURA v RIKI CHOSHU, YOSHIAKI YATSU & TATSU GOTO from Japan, 1986. Great action, and super heat.

STREETFIGHT: RON GARVIN v BIG BUBBA ROGERS from Starrcade '86.

SCAFFOLD MATCH: ROAD WARRIORS v MIDNIGHT EXPRESS from Starrcade '86.

This tape also has some terrific interviews from Ric Flair, Jim Cornette, Jake Roberts, Eddie Gilbert, and more.

3 1/2 hours, picture ranges from very good to good.

TAPE #A1520: WRESTLING FROM 1983 - 1987:

JERRY LAWLER & BOB SWEETAN v TULLY BLANCHARD & ADRIAN ADONIS jip from San Antonio, 1983.

THE ROAD WARRIORS v RANDY BARBER & JOE YOUNG- the Road Warriors debut! See them without the makeup and mowhawks!

BRUISER BRODY v ABDULLAH THE BUTCHER from Ft. Worth, 1986. WILD brawl!

"BREAKFAST WITH THE MAD DOG"- Buzz Sawyer trains for his upcoming match v Roddy Piper- A CLASSIC!

"LOOKING FOR THE MAD DOG"- an INCREDIBLE retaliatory video by Roddy Piper- A CLASSIC! Both of these segments are must sees.

BUZZ SAYER v TOMMY RICH in an unscheduled brawl. Wild Bill Irwin makes it a two-on-one.

IRON SHIEK v BRETT WAYNE from Georgia, 1983.

MR. WRESTLING II v "MR. WRESTLING" from Georgia, 1983- Jesse Barr plays the imposter Mr. Wrestling, with a white mask, boots and trunks.

TED DIBIASE v JAY YOUNGBLOOD from Georgia, 1983. Ted more or less announces his heel turn to the fans in Georgia with his tactics in this match.

LOU ALBANO, LARRY SHARPE, DENNIS CORRALLUZZO, DAVEY O'HANNON, TONY ALTIMORE, "HACKSAW" JOEL GOODHEART, and more appear on the "Morton Downey Jr Show" in 1989. A cluster of lies, idiocy, fake-heated arguments, 80's mullets, and nonsense allegedly aimed at discussing New Jersey's referendum to dereguleate pro wrestling. A somewhat entertaining farce.

HULK HOGAN v DAVID SCHULTZ- Good, bloody match from St. Paul, 1984.

KEVIN VON ERICH v AL PEREZ from the 1987 Dallas Cotton Bowl show.

CHRIS ADAMS v AL PEREZ from Dallas, 1987.

KERRY VON ERICH v BRIAN ADIAS from Dallas, 1987.

SHAWN MICHAELS & MARTY JANNETTY v KEVIN KELLY & NICK KINISKI AWA TV, from 1987.

4 hours, picture is very good to good.

TAPE #A1521: MATCHES FROM 1983 - 1988:†

ROCK & ROLL EXPRESS v CHAVO & HECTOR GUERRERO, from Mid-South, 1985. All action, and great fun as Cornette manages the Guerreros. Chavo KO's Morton with a bag of gold coins, and win the tag titles- but the decision is†

reversed. 3 1/2 ***.†

TED DIBIASE v BRAD ARMSTRONG, from Mid-South, 1985. Dibiase uses the ringpost and the figure-four to injure Brad's leg and win the North American title.†

TERRY FUNK AND JIMMY HART appear on Piper's Pit and TNT, 1986.†

TERRY FUNK v JUNKYARD DOG, from WWF TV, 1986. Dory Funk debuts, and attacks JYD.†

CAGE MATCH: BRUNO SAMMARTINO & TITO SANTANA v RANDY SAVAGE & ADRIAN ADONIS, from New York, 1986. All four work hard, lots of blood, 3 ***.†

HULK HOGAN & JUNKYARD DOG v TERRY & DORY FUNK from Boston, 1986- good, considering who's in the babyface corner. Terry puts on a great one man show here.†

BILL DUNDEE AND TOMMY ROGERS get into an argument, which turns into a brawl. Good mic work and psychology by Dundee. (1983).†

JIMMY HART does a bunch of GREAT interviews from Memphis, 1983.†

ANDY KAUFMAN AND JIMMY HART throw a "victory party" in celebration of Dennis Condrey and Norvell Austin beating the Fabulous Ones, and the Bruise Brothers beating the Rock & Roll Express for both sets of tag titles (clips shown of both matches).†

DENNIS CONDREY & NORVELL AUSTIN v PLOWBOY FRAZIER & ART CREWS from Memphis, 1983- a keeper as Andy Kaufman does commentary, which is hilarious.†

JERRY LAWLER v BUDDY LANDELL from Memphis, 1983. Kaufman again does commentary, which is priceless. Russian Invader breaks a "100 lb sack of wheat" over Lawler's head, coincidentally (right) one day prior the film "The Day After" airing.

BRET HART v DYNAMITE KID from Landover, MD, 1986- funny to see Bret with shorter hair and in black and blue trunks- no pink. Jim Niedhart attacks Dynamite after the match. 3 ***.†

SCAFFOLD MATCH: THE FANTASTICS & STEVE SIMPSON v ERIC EMBRY & THE RPMS, from Texas Stadium, 1987. Noteworthy because this scaffold is INCREDIBLY high in the air, about three stories. Embry takes the big bump.†

INTERVIEWS with Ric Flair, Jerry Lawler, and Jim Cornette from 1986.†

HONKYTONK MAN v MR. X from Toronto, 1986. One of my favorite matches- no joke. HTM is in the middle of a huge babyface push (probably Vince's all-time worst idea), but the Toronto fans hate him, and loudly boo his every move!†

INTERVIEW WITH MAGNIFICENT MURACO- this was pretty good, as it's from a wrestlingtalk show. He talks about his past, and his history in the WWF.†

CHAIN MATCH: BRUISER BRODY v ABDULLAH THE BUTCHER from Puerto Rico, 1987.†

TED DIBIASE AND HACKSAW DUGGAN engage in the "Best Dressed Man in Mid-South" contest. It's a great angle, and tremendous psychology and mic work is used by Dibiase.†

BUTCH REED v KAMALA from Mid-South, 1985- a lot better than you'd think. Butch fights off Kamala, Friday, Akbar, and Buddy Landell until Steve Williams KOs him. A wild scene!

ROCK & ROLL EXPRESS v CHAVO & HECTOR GUERRERO from Mid-South, 1985. A great, high flying, all-action match. The Guerreros are one of the most underrated teams ever. 3 3/4 ***.†

BUTCH REED v BUDDY LANDELL, from 1985. Landell could sure take a bump.†

HULK HOGAN & BAM BAM BIGELOW v TED DIBIASE & VIRGIL from New York, 1988. 3 ***.†

4 hours, quality ranges from very good to good.†

TAPE #A1522: MATCHES FROM 1983 - 1988:

RIC FLAIR gets in Ricky Morton's face, circa 1986. The two get into an unscheduled brawl, and Flair takes a few bumps. This leads to...

RIC FLAIR v RICKY MORTON from NWA TV, 1986- the crowd is WILD for this one, as Morton was at his hottest here. Great match, all action, and the crowd is into everything they do. No finish shown, but the 15-plus minutes that air are worth 4 1/2 ***.†

LEX LUGER & ARN ANDERSON v ROCK & ROLL EXPRESS from Tampa, FL, 1987. Good match- this took place during Luger's initial megapush, and he was wisely surrounded by excellent workers. 3 1/2 ***.†

TERRY GORDY v BLACK BART from Oklahoma City, 7/11/87- I remember that when this match aired, some called it the bloodiest match of all time, and no one could beleive it made TV! Bart is a digusting mess here. 3 1/2 ***.†

TERRY FUNK v MIKE ROTONDO from Florida, 1987- hard to beleive that some considered Funk to be washed up at this point, especially considering what he accomplished 2 years later, and what he's doing now, ten years later. Watching this match, it was obvious that Uncle Terry still had it- 3 ***.

MIDNIGHT EXPRESS & ERNIE LADD v HACKSAW DUGGAN & ROCK & ROLL EXPRESS from Houtson, 1984. Everyone works their butts off in this 4 1/4 *** match.†

MIDNIGHT EXPRESS & JIM CORNETTE v HACKSAW DUGGAN & ROCK & ROLL EXPRESS from Houtson, 1984. Robert Gibson is injured early, and goes back to the dressing room. All action and a great finish, 3 3/4 ***.†

TED DIBIASE v TITO SANTANA from Houston, 1983. Bill Watts does commentary, as uses this match as a soundboard to go off on the WWF. This match was about 2 years old when it aired, but Watts uses it as "proof that the WWF's Intercontinental champ is no match for Dibiase". Huh? In an all action, back and forth match, Dibiase uses the loaded glove to get the pin. 4 ***.†

BRET HART & JIM NIEDHART v RICK MARTEL & TITO SANTANA from Boston, 1/10/88- excellent match, with all four working hard. 3 3/4 ***.†

CAGE MATCH: TED DIBIASE & STEVE WILLIAMS CHAVO & HECTOR GUERRERO from Houston, 1985. Sad to think it's been over 10 years since Teddy and Doc teamed. This was a typical Mid-South all-action brawl, 3 1/2 ***.†

THE FANTASTICS v BUDDY LANDELL & DUTCH MANTELL from Memphis, 1986.

KERRY VON ERICH & DORY FUNK JR v GREG GAGNE & JIM BRUNZELL, from Japan, 1983. 3 ***.†

ANDRE THE GIANT v KEN PATERA from Japan, 1983. The talented Patera more or less gets squashed.

KERRY VON ERICH v GREG VALENTINE from St. Louis, 1983. Kerry defends the Missouri title.†

GINO HERNANDEZ v CHAVO GUERRERO from Louisiana, 1983. Good match, Chavo steals Gino's chair and KOs him with it. 3 1/4 ***.

DUSTY RHODES v KING KONG BUNDY jip from Houston, 1983- not as bad as you'd suspect. This was Mid-South Wrestling, and everyone was expected to work hard. One Man Gang runs in for the DQ.†

BRUISER BRODY v RICK RUDE, jip from Ft. Worth, 1986. Good match. Blackjack Mulligan debuts in World Class by running in and helping Rude "break" Brody's arm. Lance Von Erich runs in, but he's disabled by Mulligan applying the clawhold (gasp!) on him.†

3 hours, quality ranges from excellent to good.

TAPE #A1523: MATCHES FROM 1983 - 1989:†

NICK BOCKWINKEL v CURT HENNIG from 11/22/85- a good old-style match. 3 1/2 ***.†

JERRY LAWLER & AUSTIN IDOL v STAN HANSEN & JESSE VENTURA from Louisville, 1983. A further reminder of what a freefall the Memphis talent base has taken over the years. This was a wild match that went all over the building and into the seats, before that kind of thing was common. 3 1/4 ***.†

NO DQ: JERRY LAWLER v JESSE VENTURA from Memphis, 1983.†

STREETFIGHT: STAN HANSEN v AUSTIN IDOL from Memphis, 1983. A wild one, as Hansen uses a tire iron on Idol! The ref tries to stop it, so Stan beats on him. The video quality of the three Memphis matches is below average, but still watchable. 3 1/2 ***.†

RICK STIENER v CHAVO GUERRERO- Chavo is one of the most underrated workers in my lifetime. Buzz Sawyer runs in with a chain for the DQ.†

WAHOO McDANIEL & JAY YOUNGBLOOD v BOB ORTON JR & DON KERNODLE from Mid-Atlantic TV, 1984- and speaking of underrated workers, put Kernodle near the top of that list. His tag teams with Slaughter, Koloff, and Orton were all exceptional. Match gets 3 1/2 ***.†

***RIC FLAIR visit's Blackjack Mulligan's ranch in Florida, and asks BJ to return to the Carolinas as his tag partner. This is one of the most ridiculous, FUNNY things I've ever seen as a wrestling fan. A gang of cowboys are sitting around a campfire, drinking beer and singing some dopey song. Flair shows up in a suit, saying he's walked 4 miles through "mud and crap" (!!) to get there. BJ is offended by the suit, so Flair takes off his jacket and shirt, and sits there in dress pants and a giant disco medallion that looks more effective than a bulletproof vest. As Marisa Tomei said; yeah Ric, you blend. Meanwhile, as Flair tries to talk to Mulligan, the guitarist is miked, so we have to strain to listen to Flair talk to BJ. All told, one of those silly, hilariously inept skits that makes us all laugh at ourselves for being wrestling fans!

RICKY STEAMBOAT & DON KERNODLE v IVAN & NIKITA KOLOFF from Mid-Atlantic TV, 1984- good, as they're smart enough to hide Nikita. 3 ***†

ARN ANDERSON v MANNY FERNANDEZ from Mid-Atlantic TV, 1984. One of Arn's first main events, as someone must have said "This guy has potential, let's push him". I'll bet it wasn't Dusty.†

CAGE MATCH: MAGNUM T.A. v WAHOO McDANIEL, from 1985- the complete match where Magnum wins the U.S. title, establishing him as a big star. Has wrestling established a new big star since?†

ARN ANDERSON v MANNY FERNANDEZ from Atlanta, 1985- Ole Anderson practically tells the world that he's turning heel before the match, and goes through with it by interfering for Arn, and attacking partner Thunderbolt Patterson.†

HULK HOGAN v MAGNIFICENT MURACO from Phoenix, February 1986. King Kong Bundy runs in and crushes Hogan, setting up their Wrestlemania 2 match.†

BRITISH BULLDOGS v GREG VALENTINE & BRUTUS BEEFCAKE, from Phoenix, February 1986- this is back when the Dogs were really good.†

RICK RUDE v ULTIMATE WARRIOR from Boston, 1989- kind of a typical Rude match, where he takes bumps and makes sure his trunks fall down.†

TED DIBIASE v MAGNUM T.A. from Houston, 1984- a fantastic match, all action and great heat, 4 1/4 ***.

OWEN HART v HIRO HASE from Calgary, 1986. Hase wrestles as a member of the Viet Cong Express. Lots of good wrestling and technical moves, 3 ***.†

OWEN HART v HIRO HASE from Calgary, 1986. This rematch was better than the previous match.

DYNAMITE KID v KUNIAKI KOBAYASHI from Japan, 1984- DK takes some of the crazy bumps that shortened his career. 3 1/2 ***.†

BRITISH BULLDOGS v THE ISLANDERS, jip from New York, 1987.†

4 hours, quality ranges from very good to good.†

TAPE #A1524: MATCHES FROM 1983 - 1990:†

RIC FLAIR v RONNIE GARVIN from Atlanta, Feb 1986. This aired on a forgotten WTBS prime-time special, the first of it's kind. This was a good, tight match. 3 1/4 ***.†

NICK BOCKWINKEL v CURT HENNIG from Las Vegas, 12/86. This is the classic, hard-to-find one-hour raw shown in it's entirety with no commercials. Video quality is below par, but entirely watchable. Both men work their butts off in this 4 1/2 *** match.†

HULK HOGAN v ANTONIO INOKI from tne 1983 IWGP tourney finals - Hogan is booked to lose the match, but Inoki land head first outside the ring, suffers a legit concussion and is knocked cold on the floor. Inoli was in and out of a coma for over a week and there has been much speculation over the years as to whether or not Hogan's "mistake" was an accident or not.†

RIC FLAIR v JUMBO TSURUTA, two out of three falls - 40 minutes of a 60-minute draw are shown. This is a FANTASTIC match, as Tsuruta and Flair both work their butts off. Flair puts Tsuruta over by losing the first fall and going to a draw in the second - great match, great heat- the Japanese fans were up for this one. 4 1/2 ***.†

RIC FLAIR v SCOTT STIENER from 1990.†

ARN ANDERSON v SCOTT STIENER from 1990. Scott was considered the NWA's next great superstar at this time.†

HULK HOGAN & RODDY PIPER v PAUL ORNDORFF & HARLEY RACE, from New York, 1986. I'm no sure, but I think this is the only time Hogan and Piper, the two key players in the WWF's national expansion era, have ever teamed.†

CAGE MATCH: RIC FLAIR v RONNIE GARVIN from Detroit, 9/25/87. The match where Garvin wins the NWA title, shown in it's entirety- I've been looking for this match for years!

BARRY WINDHAM v ARN ANDERSON, from Philadelphia, 1987. Disappointing.†

RIC FLAIR v NIKITA KOLOFF from Los Angeles, 1987. In his prime, Flair could have a four star match v a dead body. But Nikita's not as good as a dead body, so this one gets 3 1/4 ***.†

ROCK & ROLL EXPRESS v THE BRITISH BULLDOGS from Kansas City, 1989. 3 1/2 ***.†

STAN HANSEN v JERRY BLACKWELL in a good, double-juice match from Oakland, 1986. I think this was Hansen's final AWA match before walking out with the title in a dispute a few days later.

RICK MARTEL v TERRY GORDY from Atlantic City, 1985. Martel defends the AWA title.†

CAGE MATCH: BRUNO SAMMARTINO v RODDY PIPER from Boston, 1986- a terrific, all-out brawl with great heat and action. Match cuts off right before the finish. 3 1/2 ***.†

RIC FLAIR & RICK MARTEL v JUMBO TSURUTA & GENICHIRO TENYRU- I beleive this is the only time the NWA champ (Flair) ever teamed with the AWA champ (Martel). 3 3/4 ***.†

5 hours, video quality ranges from very good to fair- but EVERYTHING is watchable.

TAPE #A1525: MATCHES FROM 1984:

KERRY VON ERICH v TERRY GORDY from Ft, Worth, 5/7/84. Kerry defends the NWA title he held for 3 weeks. Good match, 3 3/4 ***

8-MAN TAG: The Freebirds & Killer Khan v Super Destroyers, Missing Link & Kabuki from Dallas, May 1984. It''s supposed to be a battle of the heels, but the fans cheer the Freebirds.

RIC FLAIR v KERRY VON ERICH from Dallas, 5/11/84. Kerry successfully defends the NWA title in a super match, much better than Texas Stadium. 4 1/4 ***

KEVIN VON ERICH v MICHAEL HAYES from Dallas, May 1984. 3 1/4 ***

EDDIE GILBERT & TOMMY RICH v KOKO WARE & NORVELL AUSTIN from Nashville, TN, 1984. Great brawl, everyone puts out. This is a total bloodbath, 4 ***

EDDIE GILBERT & TOMMY RICH v KOKO WARE & NORVELL AUSTIN from Memphis, 1984- an all-time great, classic brawl- unbelievable as they fight to the top of the Mid-South Coliseum and back down again- A MUST SEE, 5 *** riot!!

JERRY LAWLER v KING KONG BUNDY from Memphis, 1984.

RANDY SAVAGE v SCOTT McGHEE from Memphis, 1984. 3 1/2 ***

RANDY SAVAGE v AUSTIN IDOL from Memphis, 1984.

KEN PATERA & CRUSHER BLACKWELL v RICK MARTEL & MAD DOG VACHON, from St. Paul, 1984. The AWA babyfaces were always a howl- Vachon, Von Rashke, The Gagnes, Brunzell, etc. How did this promotion ever draw fans?

RIC FLAIR v RONNIE GARVIN from Atlanta, May 1984. A tight, 3 3/4 *** slapfest.

TITO SANTANA v BOB ORTON JR from St. Louis, 1984. Good match, 3 ***

TERRY TAYLOR v KRUSHER KRUSHEV from Louisiana, 1984. I know I've said it a million times, but the wrestling biz really missed an opportunity by not pushing Taylor harder.

MAGNUM T.A. v HERCULES HERNANDEZ from Louisiana, 1984. Good, 3 1/4 ***

MAGNUM T.A. v MR. WRESTLING II from New Orleans, 5/23/84. Magnum wins the North American title to finish my favorite feud of all-time (see tapes #A201 and A202).

MIDNIGHT EXPRESS v ROCK & ROLL EXPRESS from Louisiana, 6/16/84. The MX win the Mid-South tag titles. This was one of the best matches between the two teams- 4 1/2 ***

BOOTCAMP MATCH: SGT. SLAUGHTER v IRON SHIEK from New York, 6/16/84. An amazing, bloody, brutal brawl. Surprise, as this was around the time Vince just started pushing WWF as "family entertainment", with his product aimed mostly at small children. 4 1/2 *** 4 hours.

TAPE #A1526: MATCHES FROM 1984:†

RICKY STEAMBOAT v TULLY BLANCHARD from Starrcade '84. Outstanding match. Many have said that this result demonstrates where new booker Dusty Rhodes had placed Steamboat in the promotion's pecking order- and that may be true. But looking back, it made sense to give the talented Blanchard a push, and use this match to establish his credibility. 4 1/4 ***.†

INTERVIEWS with Ric Flair and Dusty Rhodes from before and after Starrcade- good stuff.†

JACK & JERRY BRISCO v ADRIAN ADONIS & DICK MURDOCH from WWF TV- good match between two great tag teams. 3 1/4 ***.†

A FUNNY CONFRONTATION between Jimmy Hart and Ole Anderson.†

RICK RUDE v KING KONG BUNDY, clips from Memphis.

RICK RUDE AND JERRY LAWLER have a confrontation that turns into a brawl.†

TEXAS DEATH MATCH: TERRY GORDY v KILLER KHAN, with Kerry Von Erich referee from Dallas, 11/24/84. At the time, this was the bloodiest match I've ever seen. Kerry and Gordy shake hands after the match, which was a shoccker at the time. All action, total gore-fest, 4 1/2 ***.†

KERRY VON ERICH & ICEMAN PARSONS v JAKE ROBERTS & KELLY KINISKI, from Dallas.

TERRY GORDY v MISSING LINK from Ft. Worth.†

RODDY PIPER v TONGA KID from New York, 11/26/84. Amazing to think that Tonga was over like crazy, and main-evented in MSG. Good brawl, great heat. Jimmy Snuka makes his return for the post-match to a thunderous ovation. 3 ***.†

GREG VALENTINE v TITO SANTANA from New York, 11/26/84. 3 3/4 ***.†

A HILARIOUS confrontation between Butch Reed and Buddy Landell, which turns Reed babyface. I tell you, Budro can sell a punch like no one else ever could.†

MIDNIGHT EXPRESS v BRICKHOUSE BROWN & MASTER G from Shreveport, LA.†

TED DIBIASE v MAGNUM T.A.from Shreveport, LA- Ted looks great here, 3 1/2 ***.†

TED DIBIASE v HACKSAW JIM DUGGAN from Shreveport, LA. Steve Williams shows up in football pads and a helmet, and destroys Duggan.†

HERCULES HERNANDEZ v MASTER G from Shreveport, LA. Gee is George Wells, part of Bill Watts' never ending quest to replace JYD.†

JERRY LAWLER, RICK RUDE & JIMMY VALIANT v KING KONG BUNDY & DIRTY WHITE BOYS in a good Memphis brawl. Lawler "accidentally" burns Rude. 3 1/2 ***.†

A RECAP of the all-time great Midnight Express v Rock & Roll Express Mid-South feud.†

TED DIBIASE v KEVIN VON ERICH in a damn good match from Tulsa, 3 3/4 ***.

STREETFIGHT: BUTCH REED & ERNIE LADD v MAGNUM T.A. & MASTER G from Tulsa. Terrific match, even Ladd and G look good here. 3 1/2 ***.†

RIC FLAIR v KERRY VON ERICH from New Orleans, 8/3/84. Go ahead and laugh, but I think Kerry was Flair's third best ever opponent, behind Steamboat and Terry Funk. Flair always brought out the absolute best in Kerry, who was a great wrestler when the mood struck him. 4 1/2 ***.†

TERRY TAYLOR v MASKED SUPERSTAR from New Orleans. Too bad Masked Superstar never got it back after his memorable 1983 WWF stint. 3 ***.†

TED DIBIASE & HERCULES HERNANDEZ v ROCK & ROLL EXPRESS- all -out brawl between four great workers. Akbar burns Morton after the match, 3 3/4 ***.

BUTCH REED v BUDDY LANDELL- Arrggh! Landell is SO GOOD, it drives me nuts. It's fair to say that no one in wrestling ever played his role better than Landell. Compare him to ECW's Stevie Richards, but a lot better. 3 1/4 ***.†

4 hours, quality is generally very good.†

TAPE #A1527: MATCHES FROM 1984 - 1985:

BILL WATTS introduces the first episode of Mid-South Wrestling on WTBS. I remember sitting at home on a Sunday night, ready for yet another WWF show...AND MID-SOUTH'S THEME SONG STARTS PLAYING! I jumped for joy.†

THE SHOW STARTS WITH A BANG as Hacksaw Duggan comes out dressed in a Tuxedo, and Ted Dibise and Steve Williams threaten to tear it off him. Duggan pulls a steel pipe out of his sleeve, and the heels run for their lives!

ROCK & ROLL EXPRESS v CHAVO & HECTOR GUERRERO from Schreveport, LA. The Guerreros are managed by Jim Cornette for this night only, and Corny is hilarious. This was an all-action match featuring two great teams of the 80's. 3 1/2 ***.†

HARLEY RACE & NICK BOCKWINKEL v GENICHIRO TENRYU & JUMBO TSURUTA from 12/10/84. A fantastic match featuring four legends. The last 10 minutes of this match are out of this world! 4 1/4 ***.†

HIRO SIATO v KANTARO HOSHINO- 3 1/4 ***.†

TERRY & DORY FUNK v HARLEY RACE & NICK BOCKWINKEL from 12/12/84. A "dream match" in theory, but not as good as I had hoped- still 3 1/2 ***.†

JERRY LAWLER v RICK RUDE from Memphis, 1984. This time King Kong Bundy runs in for DQ.

A WEIRD MEMPHIS ANGLE where The Flame suplexes "a fan in the audience" for no reason.†

NICK BOCKWINKEL v STAN HANSEN- an unscheduled brawl

RIC FLAIR v ROAD WARRIOR HAWK from Atlanta, 6/86- it's "let's rush an angle" time, as Flair v Hawk is scheduled to main event football stadiums, so The Four Horsemen run in and destroy The Roadies and Ellering.

THE FINAL PIPER'S PIT, as Roddy is supposed to be retiring- a great interview by Piper.

TAPE #A1530: MATCHES FROM 1984 - 1987:

RIC FLAIR v KERRY VON ERICH, from Japan, May 1984- Flair keeps Kerry's NWA title reign short by winning the strap back in this 2 out of 3 fall match. Note that Kerry submits to the figure-four in the 2nd fall, and is pinned cleanly in the 3rd. I mention this becausse when the title switch was announced on WCCW TV, Fritz Von Erich and Bill Mercer claimed that Kerry basically got screwed by a "sumo referee" that knew nothing about pro wrestling. Truth is, the ref was Joe Yamaguchi, several time NWA Referee of the Year.

RIC FLAIR v HARLEY RACE from E. Rutheford, NJ, 2/28/85- NY gets a great NWA match- 4***

MIDNIGHT EXPRESS v ROCK & ROLL EXPRESS, from Atlanta, 2/2/86. The Midnights win the NWA tag titles for the first time on this forgotten WTBS prime-time special. 3 1/2 ***

RIC FLAIR & LEX LUGER v DUSTY RHODES & NIKITA KOLOFF from NWA Pro Wrestling TV, May 1987. Pretty good, considering it's Flair and three stiffs. Typical Dusty finish, as Arn & Tully run in to batter Dusty's "bad leg" with a suitcase.

MIDNIGHT EXPRESS v ROCK & ROLL EXPRESS from Landover, MD, 6/2/87. Good, 3 1/2 ***

BRET HART v BRITISH BULLDOG (Davey Boy Smith) from WWF TV, April 1987. I'd forgotten how funny a color man Jesse Ventura used to be.

CAGE MATCH: RIC FLAIR v RICKY MORTON, from Greensboro, NC, July 1986- the fans never bought Morton as a legit contender. 3 ***

JACK & JERRY BRISCO v RON GARVIN & BRAD ARMSTRONG from Atlanta, 6/7/84- from the final Ole and Solie show before "Black Saturday"- Someone please explain to Gordon Solie that the Briscos are supposed to be heels here. Good match, ends in time-limit draw. 3 1/2 ***

EDDIE GILBERT v SAM HOUSTON, from Monroe, LA, Feb 1987. Houston gets the pin in a non-title match. 3 1/4 ***

TWO FUNNY EDDIE GILBERT ANGLES from UWF, 1987- Gilbert worms out of matches v his stablemate, Sting, and UWF champ One Man Gang, both in consecutive weeks. It puts Gilbert over as the ultimate coward, which is good as he's the lead heel.

RIC FLAIR v RICKY MORTON, from NWA Pro TV, May 1986. no finish is shown.

HULK HOGAN v RANDY SAVAGE from Boston, August 1986- Adonis runs in for DQ. 3 1/4 ***

RICK RUDE v CHRIS ADAMS, jip from Dallas, July 1986- Adams wins the WCCW title in a bloodbath.

HULK HOGAN & PAUL ORNDORFF v KING KONG BUNDY & JOHN STUDD, from WWF TV, July 1986- Notable becuase Orndorff turns heel on Hulk, setting up some big houses.†

ROCK & ROLL EXPRESS v OLE & ARN ANDERSON from NWA TV, July 1986. Good match, lots of heat. 3 1/2 ***

MIDNIGHT EXPRESS v DUSTY RHODES & MAGNUM T.A., brief clips of 2 matches from 8/86.

TULLY BLANCHARD & OLE ANDERSON in a brawl that leads to the breakup of the original Horsemen. Tully calls Ole's son a "snot-nosed kid", and Ole pops him. When J.J. Dillon obnoxiously tries to make peace, he gets decked too.

BADSTREET MATCH: KERRY, KEVIN & MIKE VON ERICH v MICHAEL HAYES, TERRY GORDY & BUDDY ROBERTS in a WILD "Streetfight" style match- one of the crazier brawls of the 1980's, with low shots, foriegn objects, etc. 4 1/2 ***

SHAWN MICHAELS v ONE MAN GANG from Dallas, Dec. 1984. Shawn gets squashed in one of his earliest matches.

4 HOURS

TAPE #A1531: WRESTLING FROM THE 1980's

RIC FLAIR v KERRY VON ERICH from Dallas, February 1984. About eight minutes of highlights from 1984. Good stuff.

KERRY VON ERICH v TERRY GORDY from Ft. Worth, May 1984- EXCELLENT MATCH where Kerry defends the NWA title.

KERRY VON ERICH v JIMMY GARVIN from Fr. Worth, May 1984- Kerry makes quick work of Garvin on the eve of his Texas Stadium match v Ric Flair.

TULLY BLANCHARD v MIKE JACKSON from Atlanta, 1984. Tully sports a horrible dye job here.

TERRY GORDY v KAMALA from Dallas, 1984. This turns into a wild brawl with the Freebirds fighting Akbar's guys.

RIC FLAIR, ARN ANDERSON & TULLY BLANCHARD v LEX LUGER, STING & BARRY WINDHAM from Houston, 1988.

MICHAEL HAYES has his concert ruined by Buddy Roberts and Iceman Parsons from Dallas, 1988, followed by a GREAT interview from Hayes. The concert footage is funny, as the band keeps playing while the wrestlers fight, and Kevin Von Erich throws a dropkick.

HIGHLIGHTS from Southern Championship Wrestling featuring Eddie Gilbert, Paul E. Dangerously, and Missy Hyatt.

BRUISER BRODY v DICK SLATER from Atlanta, 1988.

TERRY FUNK v BARRY WINDHAM from Puerto Rico, 1986. Good match!

TERRY FUNK v RICK MARTEL from Puerto Rico, 1986. Good match but no finish shown.

BUTCH REED v DICK SLATER from the Philadelphia Spectrum, 1987.

BRET HART v DYNAMITE KID from Landover, MD, 1986. Excellent match!

MIDNIGHT EXPRESS v ALAN MARTIN & RICK SULLIVAN from Atlanta, April 1987.

MIDNIGHT EXPRESS v ROCK & ROLL EXPRESS from Atlanta, 1987. Very good match from two of the best teams ever,

STAN HANSEN v CURT HENNIG from Las Vegas, 1986. Hansen brawls with Crusher Blackwell before the match. This was a really good bout, as Hennig was starting to blossom by this point.

BRET HART v DAVEY BOY SMITH from 1987- excellent match, plus Jesse Ventura is an absolute riot while doing commentary.

MIDNIGHT EXPRESS v BARRY WINDHAM & RON GARVIN from Atlanta, 1987. This is the final match in the tournament for the U.S. tag titles. Good match and finish!

NICK BOCKWINKEL v CURT HENNIG jip from "Superclash 2" from San Francisco, CA, 1987. Hennig wins the AWA title in a controversial fashion.

4 hours, picture is generally very good.

TAPE #A1532: MATCHES FROM 1984 - 1988:

HAIR MATCH: KERRY & KEVIN VON ERICH v GINO HERNANDEZ & CHRIS ADAMS, from the Cotton Bowl, Dallas, Sept 1985. WCCW's last hurrah, as 25,000 show up to see Gino and Chris get their heads shaved. But after this, Hernandez & Adams lost their heat, and WCCW could never find the right heels to replace them. It was all downhill for WCCW from there.

KERRY & KEVIN VON ERICH v GINO HERNANDEZ & CHRIS ADAMS from Dallas, 12/95. Highlighted by the breakup of Adams and Hernandez.

Trust me, folks, this is BRUTAL!

THE 1988 ROYAL RUMBLE, from Hamilton, Ontario, 1/24/88- this is the first rumble, which aired free on USA Network, in attempt to sabotage the NWA's Pay-Per View, which aired the same night. It worked. Hacksaw Duggan is the winner, and Bret Hart is the star. 3 ***

RICKY STEAMBOAT v RICK RUDE, from Hamilton, Ontario, 1/24/88. 3 ***

GINO HERNANDEZ v CHRIS ADAMS, from Ft. Worth, TX, 2/86- supposed to be a Hair v Hair match between the two former pals, but Gino "permanently blinds" Adams by throwing hair remover in his eyes. (Adams would actually spend a few months vacationing back home in England). The stage was set for a big feud upon Adams' return, but Gino would die from an overdose a few days later. Too bad, as my evil twin Gino was a great heel.

A GREAT MEMPHIS SKIT- Jimmy Hart announces the (original) Bruise Brothers are "no longer with us", complete with footage from a funeral. He's very somber, until he reveals that the Bruisers will now be called the New Fabulous Ones. This is so funny, seeing Porkchop Cash and Troy Graham strutting around like the Fabs, striking beefcakey poses.†

JERRY LAWLER, AUSTIN IDOL & TOMMY RICH v ZAMBUIE EXPRESS & THE BARBARIAN, jip from Memphis, 1984. Jimmy Hart sends Jos Leduc out to cost fellow heel manager J.J. Dillon's charges the match, as Dillon is invaiding "his" territory. Dillon then sets a trap, forcing long-time enemies Lawler and Leduc to team v The Zambuies. I wont give the whole angle away, but it's a classic, must-see story.

RIC FLAIR v BRUISER BRODY from St. Louis, 1984. Brody is close to winning the NWA title when Crusher Blackwell runs in, causing the DQ. The fans are pissed! 4 ***

TED DIBIASE v DICK MURDOCH from Tulsa, 12/31/85. A classic, bloody brawl, both guys are on top of their game here. Ted wins using the loaded glove. 4 1/2 ***

AKIRA MAEDA v NOBUHIKO TAKADA, Japan, 1986. Maeda wins a tight UWFI style match, using a short-arm scissor. 4***

MAGNIFICENT MURACO v KEVIN SULLIVAN from Hawaii, 1985. Pretty good brawl. Mark Lewin helps Sullivan, so the lethal Mr. Fuji makes the save for Muraco. Funny, as Fuji can't even get the smallish Sullivan up for a bodyslam!

HULK HOGAN v ADRIAN ADONIS from Chicago, 1982. Different year, same story, as the talented Adonis takes every bump in the book for Hogan. 4 HOURS

TAPE #A1533: MATCHES FROM 1984 - 1988:

JERRY LAWLER v AUSTIN IDOL in a Hair v Hair Cage Match from Memphis, TN, 5/87- there are plenty of wrestling matches throughout history I wish I could have seen live, but this one tops the list. This was the culmination of possible the best feud in wrestling history, and it was almost impossible to picture either of these two getting their head shaved. It wasn't the best match ever seen, but the place went crazy when Tommy Rich crawled out from underneath the cage (where he had been waiting for about 4 hours!) and attacked Lawler, costing him the match. Idol and Rich took about 15 minutes to shave Lawler's head as the crowd was out of hand, and the cage seemed like the safest place in the building! Even after all that time, they had to sprint to the dressing room, escorted by police. The entire scenario gets a 4 1/2 *** rating from me.

RIC FLAIR v DUSTY RHODES, from St. Petersburg, FL, 5/87- TV time runs out before the match ends.

JERRY LAWLER & AUSTIN IDOL v MICHAEL HAYES & TERRY GORDY in a "Badstreet" match from Memphis, TN, 1985, jip- a wild scene as Hayes tries to cut Idol's hair! The ref tries to stop him, and Hayes beats the ref bloody!

KERRY VON ERICH v TERRY GORDY from Ft. Worth, TX, 2/88- a major disappointment, as Gordy's just not interested.

STEVE WILLIAMS v TERRY GORDY from Tulsa, OK, 10/86- an awesome, hard-hitting, brutal match between two bulls. The match is terrific, and announcer Jim Ross makes it even better- 4 ***

MICHAEL HAYES v TERRY TAYLOR, from Oklahoma City, OK, 10/86- Buddy Roberts runs in with a belt, but Ted Dibiase evens the sides, and the Freebirds get whipped- good action, 3 1/2 ***

ABDULLAH THE BUTCHER does an interview in Japan. You read it right, Abby speaks.

JIM HELLWIG v PHIL HICKERSON from Memphis, 1986- great scene as Hickerson tells both Blade Runners that they're green, they don't know how to wrestle, all they know is to "pump steroids in their booties!" Hellwig grew up to be the Ultimate Warrior- Hickerson should be a millionaire with that kind of prognosticative power.

BRUISER BRODY v ABDULLAH THE BUTCHER from Ft. Worth, TX, 11/86- a great, wild, all over the arena brawl. Both wrestlers bleed profusely, and pounds each other with a wooden board. Great stuff!! 4 ***

STING v BILL WATTS, from Tulsa, 1986. Oh, the irony. Sting is a heel managed by Eddie Gilbert, and Watts comes out of retirement to battle Gilbert and his men. Watts pins Sting and pounds Gilbert into a bloody mess, until the Freebirds run in. Gordy destroys Watts with the "Oriental Spike", and Watts is left in a heap.

RIC FLAIR v NICK BOCKWINKEL from Winnipeg, MB, 1985- Flair defends the NWA belt against the longtime AWA champ. 3 3/4 ***

OWEN HART & CHRIS BENOIT v THE ZODIAK & JASON, from Calgary, AB, 1987- 3 1/2 *** match between four good workers.

THE HART FOUNDATION v THE ROCKERS from New York, 1988- way too many restholds in this matchup of babyface teams.

BARRY WINDHAM v TULLY BLANCHARD from NWA TV, 1987- After 4 wrestlers interfere, Barry gets the pin. 3 1/4 ***

KERRY VON ERICH v ONE MAN GANG f om Dallas, 1985- OMG was another potential superstar that never made it to that level.

BUDDY LANDELL v TERRY TAYLOR, complete match from Starrcade '85- Buddy's biggest win, as he takes the National title. 3 1/2 ***

ANTONIO INOKI v DAVID SCHULTZ, from New York, 12/84- Inoki makes a rare U.S appearance. Schultz would soon be fired from the WWF for trying to start with Mr T before the first Wrestlemania. With all of the publicity Schultz got from slapping an ABC reporter, you'd think promoters would have been lining up to use him. Not the case, as he was such a legit psychopath, no one wanted to deal with him.

4 HOURS, quality varies from very good to good.†

TAPE #A1534: MATCHES FROM 1984 - 1988:†

RIC FLAIR v NIKITA KOLOFF from Atlanta, August 11, 1985. Good match, all thanks to Nikita- gotcha! 3 1/2 ***.†

MICHAEL HAYES v TERRY TAYLOR from Tulsa, 1986.†

THE NIGHTMARES v CARL STYLES & RANGER ROSS, clips from Columbus, GA, 1987. Notable because the Nightmares pull out Styles' glass eye, winning 1987's "Most tasteless promotional tactic" award.†

THE NIGHTMARES v CARL STYLES & RANGER ROSS, from Columbus, GA, 1987. You want to see Styles get revenge, don't you?

BOB BACKLUND v MASKED SUPERSTAR from Philadelphia, 1984. Backlund has dropped the WWF title, and the fans are booing him. Sad in a way, because Backlund was one of the nicest guys in the biz.

MIDNIGHT EXPRESS v ROCK & ROLL EXPRESS, from Shreveport, LA, 1984. Nikolai Volkoff hits the ring and cuts some of Morton's hair. 3 ***.†

MIDNIGHT EXPRESS v ROCK & ROLL EXPRESS, from Shreveport, LA, 1984. Cornette, disguised in women's clothing, interferes. Good, 3 1/4 ***.†

HIRO HASE v JOHNNY SMITH from Calgary, 1987.†

HIRO HASE v KEICHI YAMADA from Calgary, 1987. Yamada is best known as the legendary Jushin Lyger. 3 1/2 ***.

OWEN HART v BAD NEWS ALLEN from Calgary, 1987. This is when Owen was one of the two best wrestlers on the planet. Makhan Singh helps Allen destroy Owen after the match.†

HULK HOGAN v PAUL ORNDORFF from Toronto, 1985.†

RANDY SAVAGE TITO SANTANA from Boston, 1986. Savage uses a foreign object to win the Intercontinental title. 3 3/4 ***.

ROCK & ROLL EXPRESS v IVAN KOLOFF & NIKITA KRUSHEV, jip from 1985- Nikita Koloff interferes with a chain, and hangs Morton over the ropes with it.

ROCK & ROLL EXPRESS v IVAN KOLOFF & NIKITA KRUSHEV, from 1985- Morton and Gibson get their first national push, and win the NWA tag titles. 3 3/4 ***.†

GREAT ANGLE where Ric Flair gives Ivan Koloff an earful, and Nikita attacks Flair from behind. Flair makes his comeback, but Ivan KOs Ric with a chain.†

THE ROAD WARRIORS SING (!!) in a music video so bad, it's fantastic.

RICK MARTEL v TERRY GORDY from Atlantic City, 1985. Martel defends the

CHRIS BENOIT v JOHNNY SMITH from Calgary, 1988.†

HULK HOGAN v BIG BOSSMAN from Boston, 1988- better than you'd think, as they keep it moving. The WWF always saved it's best scripts for Hogan's matches.

DAVID SAMMARTINO v RON SHAW from Philadelphia, 1985- a BIZARRE match: Sammartino was pissed off about something, so he makes up his own finish, emphatically submitting to the jobber Shaw's resthold bearhug. Announcer Gorilla Monsoon is at a loss, and tries to blame it on the ref- but it's visually obvious that Sammartino quit!†

AUSTIN IDOL puts the moves on Rick Rude's valet, Angel. This was a great series of vintage Memphis angles from 1983.†

TONY ATLAS v TED ARCEDI from Boston, 1986. Folks, this is THE SINGLE WORST MATCH I've ever seen on tape. Even Gorilla Monsoon complains! Not satisfied with boring everyone to death, they stumble into the crowd, fall into the ring barrier, and nearly crush a little kid.

4 hours, quality ranges from very good to fair.

TAPE #A1533: MATCHES FROM 1984 - 1988:†

RIC FLAIR v KERRY VON ERICH from Hawaii, 1985- this is a hard to find match that only aired on FNN. It's a classic, 1 hour draw that sees both men near the top of their game. A 4 1/2 *** classic.†

MIDNIGHT EXPRESS v SOUTHERN BOYS (Tracy Smothers & Steve Armstrong) from St. Petersburg, FL, 1987. I've always maintained that the Midnights (Stan Lane & Bobby Eaton) are the greatest tag team in the history of wrestling. 3 ***

BRUISER BRODY & STAN HANSEN v JUMBO TSURUTA & GENICHIRO TENRYU- the finals of the 1984 AJPW tag tournament, and a great match- 4 ***

MIDNIGHT ROCKERS v TOM PRICHARD & MIKE GOLDEN from Alabama, 1987- Shawn and Marty are on their "we burned the AWA on the way out, then got fired in the WWF, so we have nowhere to wrestle" tour. I think they had t-shirts made...

LUMBERJACK MATCH: BRUNO SAMMARTINO v RANDY SAVAGE from Boston, 1987. Short, but good action. Ends when King Kong Bundy runs in to save Savage.†

NICK BOCKWINKEL & GREG GAGNE v LARRY ZYBYSKO & MASA SIATO from St. Paul, 1986. Interesting to see Nick teaming with one of the Gagnes after all the years he feuded with Verne and Greg.†

ROCK & ROLL EXPRESS v RICK RUDE & MANNY FERNANDEZ from NWA TV, 1987- the "Dusty finish" rears it's ugly head again.†

ARM WRESTLING: JESSE VENTURA v IVAN PUTSKI from WWF TV, 1984- guess what happens when Putski is about to put Ventura's arm down...go ahead, guess.†

BRET HART v ALDO MARINO from WWF TV, 1984- I'm pretty sure this is Bret's first-ever WWF TV match. This was before he became the "Hit Man", and he had a totally different look from the one we're familiar with.

JACK & JERRY BRISCO v ADRIAN ADONIS & DICK MURDOCH from WWF TV, 1984. Kinda short, but all action from four terrific workers.†

RIC FLAIR does an interview, circa 1986, with Baby Doll as his valet. Nice idea, Dust.†

DUSTY RHODES smashes Tully Blanchard's leg, putting him on crutches. J.J. Dillon does some funny commentary as the tape is rolling.†

**TULLY AND THE HORSEMEN GET REVENGE as Ole & Arn Anderson jump Dusty Rhodes in a parking lot, tie his hand to a truck, and smash the hand with a bat (notice right before impact, Dusty yells "MAKE ITGOOD!!And as if it's already not silly enough, J.J. hires a cameraman to tape the entire crime! Another classic, inept wrestling angle!

RANDY SAVAGE makes a surprise appearance on Memphis TV, circa 1983. This is significant because Savage and his family had been involved in a bitter and legit promotional war with the Memphis group†

BILL DUNDEE v STEVE KEIRN from Memphis, 1983- Harley Davidson (better known as Hillbilly Jim) hits the ring and attacks Keirn. Amazing how over The Fabulous Ones were.†

DICK MURDOCH v SCOTT SANDERS- Sanders is better known as Scott Stiener, who's wrestling here in one of his earliest UWF squashes, 1987.†

RICKY STEAMBOAT v RICK RUDE from New York, 1987.†

HULK HOGAN v RICK RUDE from Boston, January 10, 1988. I'm pretty sure this is the only time these two ever wrestled. Superman survives an early chairshot and scores a pinfall.†

4 hours, quality varies from very good to good.†

NO DQ MATCH: RICKY MORTON v TULLY BLANCHARD, NWA TV, Sept 1987. 4 ***.

MIDNIGHT EXPRESS v BARRY WINDHAM & NIKITA KOLOFF, 1988. Good when Barry's in there. Arn Anderson KO's Windham with a chair for an MX win. 3 ***.

ROCK & ROLL EXPRESS v FABULOUS ONES from New Orleans, Apr 1986. This match was one hell of a lot better than you'd think. TV time expires before the end of the match, 3 3/4 ***.†

RIC FLAIR, ARN & OLE ANDERSON v MAGNUM T.A. & ROCK & ROLL EXPRESS in an elimination match,1986. This was a great, great match. How did Dusty and Crockett destroy this area and it's rabid crowd so quickly? 4 1/2 ***.

CAGE MATCH: RIC FLAIR, OLE & ARN ANDERSON DUSTY RHODES & ROCK & ROLL EXPRESS- Another terrific match- not as good as the last one, thanks to The Dream. 3 1/2 ***.†

KEVIN VON ERICH v CHRIS ADAMS from Dallas, 1985. Aniother super bout, 4 ***.†

NICK BOCKWINKEL v RICK MARTEL from E. Rutheford, NJ, 1985. Not what the crowd wants to see, but Verne felt Nick "deserved" a main event in the NY area after all these years, so the match was born. I'm not making this up, folks. Still was a heck of a match, 3 1/2 ***.†

MIDNIGHT EXPRESS & BIG BUBBA ROGERS v ROCK & ROLL EXPRESS & DICK MURDOCH, from 1986. I've seen better from the Rock & rolls and Midnights, but still worth 3 ***.†

DUSTY RHODES & MAGNUM T.A. v OLE & ARN ANDERSON from Atlanta, 8/11/85. Good in the beginning and the end, but slow in the middle.†

HULK HOGAN v RANDY SAVAGE from Philly, 8/85. Hogan gets the pin, Savage clobbers him in the post-match brawl. 3 ***. 4 HOURS

2/88: BARRY WINDHAM v MIKE ROTONDO from Cincinnati- Diana Smith was not present for this match between brothers-in-law.

3/88: CURT HENNING (AWA Champ) v JERRY LAWLER from Las Vegas.

1986: TERRY FUNK v BARRY WINDHAM from Hayamon, Puerto Rico- Funk gives a raucous interview before the match. 3 1/2 ***.†

6/12/86: AKIRA MAEDA v TATSUMI FUJINAMI- Fujinami suffers a legit concussion- brutal match, and one of the top ten of the 1980's. 5 ***.†

1/28/86: RIKI CHOSHU & YOSHIAKI YATSU v GENICHIRO TENRYU & JUMBO TSURUTA- A match listed in the 1989 Observer Yearbook as the 6th greatest match of all time. 5 ***.†

11/88: RIC FLAIR & BARRY WINDHAM v DUSTY RHODES & BAM BAM BIGELOW from Charlotte, NC.

4/89: RIC FLAIR & MICHAEL HAYES v RICK STEAMBOAT & LEX LUGER from the World Wide Wrestling TV, 1989.†

8/88: MIDNIGHT EXPRESS v TULLY BLANCHARD & ARN ANDERSON in the never televised NWA tag title change from Philadelphia. This was Tully's last ever NWA match.

1986: TERRY FUNK v RICK MARTEL from Puerto Rico. Funk puts on a great show, 3 ***.†

This is one of my very best tapes! 4 HOURS.

TAPE #A1538: MATCHES FROM 1984 - 1990:†

RIC FLAIR v KERRY VON ERICH from Texas Stadium, May 5, 1984- Kerry wins the NWA title in front of a reported 45,000 fans. A historic match with great heat, and a memorable post-match celebration.†

BADSTREET MATCH: FRITZ, KEVIN & MIKE VON ERICH v THE FREEBIRDS (Hayes, Gordy & Roberts) from Texas Stadium, May 5, 1984. Your basic streetfight match- a wild brawl by 1984 standards. Of course, the Freebirds sell for old man Fritz as if he were Superman. 3 3/4 ***.†

SHAWN MICHAELS & MARTY JANNETTY v BUDDY ROSE & DOUG SOMMERS, from St Paul, MN, 1987- Shawn and Marty win the AWA tag titles. Immortal turd annoucer Larry Nelson is dressed as a "Midnight Rocker".†

RIC FLAIR v BARRY WINDHAM in a brief unscheduled brawl from 1987. Typical NWA crap booking as Flair takes a few bumps, then the Horsemen clean Windham's clock, then Dusty saves the day. Yawn.†

COAL MINER'S GLOVE MATCH: HACKSAW DUGGAN v HERCULES HERNANDEZ from Houston, 1984. This is way back when both Duggan and Hernandez could work.†

HARLEY RACE v TITO SANTANA from New York, 1986- really good, 3 1/2 ***.†

KERRY VON ERICH v TERRY GORDY from Ft. Worth, May 1984. Kerry makes a rare NWA title defense in an outstanding, all-action match. 4 1/4 ***.†

HIROSHI HASE v TIGER JEET SINGH in a "Jungle Island Death Match". As advertised, the two brawl on an island somewhere in Japan. This was an incredibly bloody, violent spectacle, bordering on gross. The wrestlers use fire, swords, metal pipes, etc. to butcher each other with. Slow at points, but I guess that adds an element of realism to it.†

BARBED WIRE MATCH: BRUISER BRODY v TERRY GORDY from Texas Stadium, May 1986- quality is below par, but it's a rare match that never aired in the U.S.†

RODDY PIPER v MAGNIFICENT MURACO from Boston, 1986. Muraco bleeeds like crazy, and the crowd loves the newly-turned Hot Rod.†

CAGE MATCH: BRUISER BRODY v ABDULLAH THE BUTCHER from the Cotton Bowl, 1986. Fritz Von Erich is the referee, and assists Brody by taking Abby's fork away.†

KERRY VON ERICH, who is still on crutches from his motorcycle accident, is attacked by Al Madril and Brian Adidas. It's a sure sign that your promotion is in big trouble when Madril and adidas are your top heels.†

BRUISER BRODY & STEVE SIMPSON v ABDULLAH THE BUTCHER & BAM BAM BIGELOW from Dallas, 1986. What is Simpson doing in this match?†

RANDY SAVAGE v RICKY STEAMBOAT from WWF TV, 1986- terrific match ends with a classic angle as Savage tries to "crush the throat" of Steamboat using the railing and the ring bell. Watch carefully, as Steamboat accidentally kicks a kid in the face while he's being stretchered out, which ends in a six-figure lawsuit. 3 1/4 ***.†

A MEMPHIS BATTLE ROYAL from 1989, notable because it's won by curent IWGP champ Shinya Hashimoto, who plays the stereotypical Japanese role as "The Shogun". After the match, Hashimoto DDT's Tracy Smothers through the announcers' table.†

THE KING OF ALL "FAKE SHOOT" ANGLES takes place in Memphis, in 1990. Jerry Lawler is doing an interview when The Snowman, apparently uninvited, comes out on LIVE TV. Snowman, an obscure black wrestler who lives in Memphis, accuses Lawler and the USWA promotion of being racist. Lawler and Eddie Marlin answer back, and the whole scene looks totally realistic and unrehearsed. Snowman then shows up at th Mid-South Coliseum, and, what a surprise, a match is signed for the following week. To my knowledge, this was the first notable "fake shoot" angle done in the U.S., which is all the rage nowadays. Good stuff, as Lawler really knows how to sell it and make it look realistic.†

TOMMY RICH v STEVE LAWLER from Columbus, GA, 1988. Notable because this is probably the bloodiest I've ever seen Rich, and that's a big statement.†

4 hours, quality ranges from very good to good- ALL watchable.

TAPE #A1539: MATCHES FROM 1984 - 1990:†

JUSHIN LIGER v BLACK TIGER from Moscow, Russia, 12/31/89. Excellent, 4 ***.†

KEICHI YAMADA (Liger) v ROCKY MORAN from England, 11/28/87

KEICHI YAMADA v MARC ROCCO from England, 3/12/88

OWEN HART v STEVE LOGAN from England, 1987- This is from back when Owen was one of the three best wrestlers worldwide. 3 3/4 ***.†

JERRY LAWLER v BILL DUNDEE in a Cage Match from Memphis, 2/85. Good brawl, 3 1/2 ***

TIGER MASK (Sayama) v EL HALCON from Mexico, 1983. Excellent, 4 ***.†

HULK HOGAN v AKIRA MAEDA from Japan, 1984. Oh, the irony, but Maeda keeps a cool head and wrestles a pro match.

TIGER MASK (Sayama) v EL POLACO from Mexico, 1983. 3 ***.

TIGER MASK (Sayama) v VILLANO III- same as #D182. 3 1/2 ***.†

TIGER MASK (Sayama) v EDDIE GILBERT from Philly, Nov 1982- there's no way you can watch the crowd reaction here and think a "high-spot" style wouldn't work in the northeast.

AKIRA MAEDA v RENE GOULET from Philly, 1984- Maeda was forced to do jobs for joke wrestlers like Goulet and George Steele during his WWF tour.

JUSHIN LIGER v BLACK TIGER from Japan, 1989. 3 3/4 ***.†

JUSHIN LIGER v TAKESHI MISAWA from Japan, 12/19/89. 3 ***.†

JUSHIN LIGER v PEGASUS KID from Japan, 8/19/90. Fantastic, 4 ***.†

JUSHIN LIGER v OSAMU MATSUDA from Japan, 5/6/90. 3 ***.†

This tape feature some rare matches of the three greatest high-spot wrestlers I've ever seen (Liger, Sayama, Owen Hart). A GREAT TAPE!! 4 HOURS.

TAPE #A1540: MATCHES FROM 1985 - 1987:

RIC FLAIR v BARRY WINDHAM from Baltimore, 4/7/87. The classic, complete match from the 1987 Crockett Cup. This feud established Windham as a legit superstar. 5***

TERRY GORDY v STEVE WILLIAMS, from Fayetteville, AR, 1986. A brawl erupts before the match with Michael Hayes and Jim Duggan involved. Doc is injured, but wrestles anyway. 4***

BRUISER BRODY v ONE MAN GANG from Ft. Worth, 8/85. Pretty good brawl, 3***

KEVIN VON ERICH v CHRIS ADAMS from Ft. Worth, 8/85. Gino Hernandez hovers above the ring in a cage, to keep him from interfering. He throws brass knux to Adams, but Kevin uses them to win. Kevin then tears off Gino's suit, revealing purple underwear! Gino & Chris get some revenge by cutting some of Kevin's hair. Awesome match, great heat, 4 1/2 ***

RIC FLAIR v BARRY WINDHAM from Fayetteville, NC, Jan 1987. A great, one hour match that took the entire hour of World Wide Wrestling. Great booking by Dusty, as Windham is established as a main eventer here, looking great. Match is watchable, but fair / poor picture. 5***

HULK HOGAN & JIMMY SNUKA v MAGNIFICENT MURACO & BOB ORTON from Boston, 5/18/85. A lot better than you'd think. Great heat, 3***.

RICK STIENER v CHAVO GUERRERO from UWF, 1987. Good but short.

RICK STIENER v SAM HOUSTON from UWF. Funny to see Stiener job for Houston.

MIDNIGHT EXPRESS v RON & JIMMY GARVIN- 3 1/2 ***.

MIDNIGHT EXPRESS v ROAD WARRIORS- 3 1/2 ***.

MIDNIGHT EXPRESS v DUSTY RHODES & NIKITA KOLOFF. All 3 Midnight Express matches are complete matches from the 1987 Crockett Cup tournament in Baltimore.

DUSTY RHODES & NIKITA KOLOFF v LEX LUGER & TULLY BLANCHARD, finals of the 1987 Crockett Cup tournament, entire match. Tully does a good job carrying things. 3***.

BRUISER BRODY & KERRY VON ERICH v MICHAEL HAYES & TERRY GORDY from Ft. Worth, January 1986. One Man Gang runs in to attack Brody.

CAGE MATCH: KERRY & KEVIN VON ERICH v GINO HERNANDEZ & CHRIS ADAMS from Dallas, 11/25/85- Gino & Chris lose their masks, and the Von Erichs lose the tag titles. Terry Gordy & Brian Adias are the special referees, and Gordy plays heel ref.

THE FREEBIRDS RETURN TO TEXAS, and give the Von Erichs a surprise beating, Jan 1986.

LUMBERJACK MATCH: TED DIBIASE & STEVE WILLIAMS v MICHAEL HAYES & BUDDY ROBERTS, A great, great match, 4 1/2***.†

4 hours, quality varies from very good to fair.†

TAPE #A1541: MATCHES FROM 1985 - 1988:

JERRY LAWLER v KERRY VON ERICH, from Nashville, TN, 10/88: Lawler puts up the AWA title v Kerry's WCCW belt. 3 1/2 ***

CACTUS JACK & GARY YOUNG v SCOTT STEINER & BILLY TRAVIS, from Nashville, TN, 10/88- interesting to see Cactus and Steiner at the very start of their careers. Remember back when we all thought Steiner would be the biggest star in the biz by now?

BRUNO SAMMARTINO v RODDY PIPER from Boston, MA, 1/86- a great brawl, all action. Match ends when Bob Orton runs in on Piper's behalf, and the two heels give Bruno a beating. 3 3/4 ***

RICK MARTEL & TITO SANTANA v THE ISLANDERS (Tonga Kid & Haku), from Philly, 12/87- in my opinion, this was the most underrated feud of all time, as these teams had some great matches- 3 3/4 ***

ROCK & ROLL EXPRESS v CHAVO & HECTOR GUERRERO, from Schreveport, LA, 4/85- and speaking of underrated, check out the Guerreros, who deserved a major push somewhere- excellent wrestlers, and hateable heels. 3 1/2 ***

ROCK & ROLL EXPRESS v MIDNIGHT EXPRESS (Eaton & Condrey), from New Orleans, 1/85- 3 1/4 ***

KERRY VON ERICH v BUDDY LANDELL from Schreveport, LA, 4/85- My all-time favorite wrestler, Budro, gets to sell his ass off.

RANDY SAVAGE v BRET HART from Saturday Night's Main Event, 11/27/87- 3 3/4 ***

BRUISER BRODY v LEON WHITE, from Hammond, IN, 4/86- Leon was just horrible back here, and I loved seeing Brody stomp the tar out of the clumsy ex-football player. White is now Big Van Vader, who along with Brody is one of the best "big men" of all time. Remember that the next time you see a green rookie- you never know.

MIDNIGHT EXPRESS v BUZZ SAWYER & MANNY FERNANDEZ from Atlanta, 4/85- Eaton gets in some great flying moves.

RIC FLAIR v SGT. SLAUGHTER, jip from E. Rutheford, NJ, 4/85- Sarge has Flair wrapped up in the Cobra Clutch, but Boris Zurkhov runs in and costs Sarge the NWA title. This set up a Slaughter v Zurkhov feud that NOBODY wanted to see.†

RICK STEAMBOAT v BOB ORTON JR from Toronto, 1985. Not bad, Orton could still work in '85.

HART FOUNDATION (Bret Hart & Jim Neidhart) v BRITISH BULLDOGS from New York, NY, 1985- excellent match, 3 3/4 ***

HULK HOGAN & JIMMY SNUKA v MAGNIFICENT MURACO & BOB ORTON from Boston, 5/85- This match was a lot better than you'd think, with lots of action and a hot crowd- 3 1/2 ***

RIC FLAIR, BARRY WINDHAM & ARN ANDERSON v LEX LUGER, NIKITA KOLOFF & STEVE WILLIAMS from Houston, 6/10/88.

MIDNIGHT EXPRESS (Eaton & Lane) v THE FANTASTICS from Houston, 6/10/88- this was another great, forgotten feud. 3 3/4 ***

TWO CLASSIC NWA ANGLES FROM 1986- First, the Four Horsemen jump out of a car and attack Dusty Rhodes in a parking lot. As if that premise isn't ridiculous enough, they tie Dusty's hand to a car, and right before Ole Anderson smashes it with a baseball bat, Dusty yells "MAKE IT GOOD" for all of us to hear. The idea was to knock Dusty out of an upcoming cage match, but no such luck for either the Horsemen of the NWA fans, as Dusty shows up with Nikita Koloff as his partner, to everyone's shock. Dusty pounds J.J. Dillion's face with his casted hand, and the Horsemen are enraged. The funniest scene of all is shown when Dillon shows up for an interview with what has to be the most ludicrous makeup job of all time, trying to simulate black eyes and bruises. Great for nostalgia and laughs.†

4 HOURS, video varies from excellent to fair.†

TAPE #A1542: MATCHES FROM 1986 - 1989:

MIDNIGHT EXPRESS v ROCK & ROLL EXPRESS, raw footage from Miami's Orange Bowl, June 1987- Good match, Lane is still new to the Midnights here. 3 1/2 ***

DORY FUNK JR v KEVIN SULLIVAN, RF from the Orange Bowl, June 1987-decent brawl.

WAR GAMES II- Rhodes, Nikita, Road Warriors & Ellering v Flair, Blanchard, Luger, Arn Anderson & War Machine (Bubba Rogers). Raw footage of a 5-on-5 double cage match from the Orange Bowl, June 1987. I'll give booker Rhodes credit for coming up with the great "War Games" concept- this was a terrific, violent, 4 1/2 *** match.

RIC FLAIR v STEVE KEIRN, raw footage from Ft. Lauderdale, 10/1/86. Match starts slow, but Flair carries this to 3 1/2 ***. Keirn didn't have his working shoes on.

BARRY WINDHAM v RON BASS, raw footage from Ft. Lauderdale, 10/1/86. Windham was one of the top 5 wrestlers in the world at this point, stuck on the Fla. circuit. A great, 4 1/2 *** match.

TERRY FUNK v DUSTIN RHODES from Florida, 1989. Funk looks great, tuning up for his classic feud v Ric Flair- he gets DQed for mangling Dustin's leg with a chain. 3 1/2 ***

TERRY FUNK v DUSTY RHODES in a wild, unscheduled, all over the studio fistfight from Dusty's failed PWF/Florida promotion, 1989. Funk also does a great interview. 4 ***

ROCK & ROLL EXPRESS v THE FANTASTICS, raw footage from St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, 4/1/89. The Rock & Rolls turn heel, which is interesting. 3 1/4 ***

STING & RICK STIENER v TERRY TAYLOR & CHRIS ADAMS, jip from Atlanta, 4/12/87. Heels Sting & Stiener win the tag titles, setting up the Taylor-Adams split. Good action.

TERRY TAYLOR v CHRIS ADAMS in a "scientific" match to determine the #1 contender, 1987.

TERRY TAYLOR v CHRIS ADAMS in a rematch, 1987. Taylor turns heel by piledriving Adams outside the ring. I've said this 1000 times before, but Taylor would have been a great main-event heel for any promotion, and the biz dropped the ball by not giving him the chance. 3 1/2 ***

SCOTTY THE BODY v BEETLEJUICE ART BARR from Portland, 1989.†

TED DIBIASE v DUSTY RHODES from Boston, 6/15/89. I was at this show- it was supposed to be Dibiase v Jake Roberts, but Jake was a no-show. When Rhodes, who hadn't even been on TV yet, was announced as the sub, THE BOSTON GARDEN WENT CRAZY!! People were jumping up and down on their seats, hugging..it was insane.†

BRET HART v CURT HENNIG from Boston, 6/15/89. 20 minute draw, 3 1/4 ***

HULK HOGAN v RANDY SAVAGE from Boston, 6/15/89. Savage works hard, despite an elbow injury. Good match, lots of heat- this is when Boston still drew 10,000+ per show. 3 1/2 ***.

TAPE #A1543: MATCHES FROM 1988 - 1990:†

RANDY SAVAGE v TED DIBIASE from 5/27/88- 4 ***

CAGE MATCH: RANDY SAVAGE v TED DIBIASE- 4 1/2 ***, one of the top 100 of the 80's- great!

OWEN HART v TERRY TAYLOR from 12/30/88.

SHAWN MICHAELS & MARTY JANNETTY v ARN ANDERSON & TULLY BLANCHARD from 1/23/89- 4 ***, these four always had great matches.

SHAWN MICHAELS & MARTY JANNETTY v ARN ANDERSON & TULLY BLANCHARD from 3/18/89.†

MASA KURISU v SHOJI AKIYOSHI from 12/10/89. Match is memorable just for it's outright brutality, as Kurisu just destroys his younger foe.

BARBED WIRE MATCH: ATSUSHI ONITA v MASA KURISU from 2/12/90- a fairly brutal match.†

STREETFIGHT: ATSUSHI ONITA & TARZAN GOTO v MASA KURISU & DRAGON MASTER from 4/1/90- my pick for 1990 Match of the Year. A wild, brutal brawl that goes all over the building. 5 ***.†

HAIR v MASK: NEGRO CASAS v EL HIJO DEL SANTO from Los Angeles, 1990. This main event set some kind of attendance record, and a terrific match. 4 1/2 ***.

BARRY WINDHAM v LEX LUGER, raw footage from Landover, MD, 3/18/89. 4 ***.†

JUSHIN LYGER v KANTARO HOSHINO- handheld from Japan, 8/5/89.

NO DQ: OWEN HART v DYNAMITE KID from Calgary, 8/11/89- 4 1/4 ***.

OWEN HART v JOHNNY SMITH from Calgary, 1989.

OWEN HART v LARRY CAMERON, two matches from Calgary, 1989.

TERRY FUNK v STAN HANSEN from New Jersey, 6/23/90- wild brawl where they both end up in a river!

TAPE #A1544:†MATCHES FROM 1984 - 1987:

RIC FLAIR v BRUISER BRODY from St. Louis, 1/5/85- this was a super match, pitting two all-time greats. 4 ***.†

RIC FLAIR v DUSTY RHODES from NWA TV, 1986. Flair defends the NWA title in an impromptu match. Ole Anderson makes his return, and helps the Horsemen destroy Rhodes.†

RIC FLAIR v DUSTY RHODES, from 1986, jip. Baby Doll turns on Dusty, and sides with Flair, reflecting some good taste on her part. Seriously, the idea of pairing Flair and Baby Doll was a short-lived loser, and it absolutely killed Baby Doll in the NWA.†

RIC FLAIR & ARN ANDERSON v DUSTY RHODES & RON GARVIN from 1986. Garvin KOs Flair with a punch, and Rhodes rolls him up for a pin.†

RICK RUDE v TOMMY RICH from Memphis, 1984. Jimmy Hart and Angel interfere for Rude, but Jerry Lawler KOs Rude with a chain, and Rich merges the International and Southern titles.†

RIC FLAIR v MAGNUM T.A., clips from Atlanta, 6/2/85.

RANDY SAVAGE v ULTIMATE WARRIOR from New York, 2/20/89. Savage defends the WWF title, and does a decent job carrying the Anabolic One. Rick Rude interferes for the DQ screwjob.

A FUNNY INTERVIEW where Austin Idol and Tommy Rich attack Randy Hales.†

A FUNNY SEGMENT where Tojo Yammamoto LOSES IT on "The Jerry Lawler Show" and refers to a black fan as a "baboon"! Not PC, Tojo!

ANOTHER "LAWLER SHOW" SEGMENT where he has a disc-jockey gives out a bunch of wrestlers' real names, "exposes" Nikita Koloff as being from Minnesota, Sam Houston being married to Baby Doll, Bill Dundee being a grandfather, etc- all while Lawler laughs approvingly. Hey, Lawler, next time you whine about the SHEETS "exposing" the business...

CAGE MATCH: BRUISER BRODY v ABDULLAH THE BUTCHER jip from Dallas, 1986. Abby escapes the cage while Brody messes with Gary Hart, and Bruiser has to leave Texas "forever"...sure.

TERRY GORDY v TED OATES from Birmingham, 1982. Gordy is run off during his post-match interview by Michael Hayes, who he was feuding wih at the time. The quality for this segment is below par.

BADSTREET CAGE MATCH: KERRY & KEVIN VON ERICH v MICHAEL HAYES, TERRY GORDY & BUDDY ROBERTS from Ft. Worth, 1984. Mike Von Erich has a separated shoulder, so it's a 3-on-2. The Von Erichs overcome incredible odds to defeat the Freebirds. Gee, how many times did we see that? 4 ***.†

RIC FLAIR v SAM HOUSTON from Atlanta, 1985. Good TBS studio match. Flair pounds on Houston until Magnum T.A. makes the save.†

CURT HENNIG v JEFF JARRETT from Memphis, 1987. Hennig defends the AWA title, and Jarrett plays the hometown underdog role. I like it! 3 1/2 ***.†

CURT HENNIG v WAHOO McDANIEL from Las Vegas, 1987. Hennig KOs Wahoo with a foreign object.

HULK HOGAN v KEN PATERA from WWF TV, 1985. John Studd and Bobby Heenan run in and try to cut Hogan's hair.†

BRUISER BRODY v BUZZ SAWYER from Dallas, 1986. Brody KOs Sawyer with a chain.†

RODDY PIPER does an angle with Mike Golden (who was actually pretty good) in Portland, 1989.†

BRET HART v BAD NEWS BROWN from Boston, 1989.†

3 hours, quality ranges from excellent to fair.†

TAPE #A1545: MATCHES FROM 1985 - 1989:

RIC FLAIR v BARRY WINDHAM, from January 1987- one of those unscheduled brawls that turns into an actual match. Lame finish as the Horsemen run in just as Flair is about to be pinned. Still 3 3/4 ***.†

RIC FLAIR v BARRY WINDHAM from Fayetteville, NC, 1/24/87. IMO , this should have been 1987 Match of the Year, and Jeff Bowdren lists it as the 15th best match of the 1980's. Windham is ordained as a legitimate national main eventer here. A nice break for Barry comes a little more than a year after the WWF was wasting him as a mid-card tag teamer. One of the all-time great matches, 5 *** +!!

TERRY GORDY v STEVE WILLIAMS from Dallas, 1986. One of the better super-heavyweight matches you'll see. A bloody brawl, 4 ***.†

RIC FLAIR has an argument with Brad Armstrong, which turns into Brad getting beaten up by the Horsemen. Poor Brad- Ric condescends to him as if he were dealing with a bothersome child- but it's funny.

CAGE MATCH: LEX LUGER v KEVIN SULLIVAN (clips)- Kareem Muhammad interferes for Sullivan.

MIDNIGHT EXPRESS try to take Ron Garvin's head off with a chair.

BADSTREET MATCH: TED DIBIASE & STEVE WILLIAMS v MICHAEL HAYES & TERRY GORDY from Ft. Worth, 1987. Good action, but no finish shown. 3 ***.†

ONE OF MY FAVORITE MOMENTS in wrestling takes place as Jesse Ventura appears on Piper's Pit during the Hogan / Andre angle. Jesse compares trophies that both Hogan and Andre have received, and remarks that one is "real gold" (???), while the other FEELS LIKE "rotten old lead"!!

TULLY BLANCHARD v BRAD ARMSTRONG from Atlanta, January 1987. Good match, but they totally give away the time limit draw finish right from the start. 3 1/2 ***.

BARRY WINDHAM tries to talk Lex Luger out of joining the Horsemen, but Lex kicks his butt.†

STREETFIGHT: OWEN HART v DYNAMITE KID from Calgary, 1989. Johnny Smith's interference backfires, 3 3/4 ***.

OWEN HART v JOHNNY SMITH from Calgary, 1989. Johnny was really good, and I have no idea why he didn't make it. 3 1/4 ***.

RIC FLAIR v MIKE DAVIS from Japan's "World Pro Wrestling", 1985.

GINO HERNANDEZ v MICHAEL HAYES from Ft. Worth, 1985. Chris Adams runs in for the DQ.

This tape also has a bunch of terrific interviews from Ric Flair and Jim Cornette.

2 hours, 40 minutes. Video quality is excellent except for the final three matches, which are good quality.

Well, I'd be happy to do the conversions once you guys sort out what actually needs converting, if you need someone. Shipping the tapes to Canada (and back, I assume) would likely cost a good chunk, though. How quickly they would need to be done could possibly also be a factor although I have a stand-alone unit set up for dedicated vhs conversion, so it really shouldn't be an issue.

Anyhow, available if needed.

The scaffold match is out there. It's on the DVDVR 80's set of the WCCW under memorable matches. It didn't make the set proper.

Ahh ok thanks, somehow I missed that. I was also wrong about the Kevin-Iceman match confusing it with the Kerry-Iceman match at the 88 POC.
