Posted March 30, 201312 yr comment_5540313 Jake “The Snake” Roberts & The Spoiler vs. Johnny Rich & Larry Santana (2/18/84) Pretty much a squash except when Rich was in the ring. Ronnie Garvin would run off the heels afterwards. Nikolai Volkoff vs. Larry Santana (2/25/84) Squash. #1 Contender Tournament for the NWA World Heavyweight Title – Quarterfinals: “White Lightning” Tim Horner vs. Road Warrior Hawk (3/17/84) Flair is on commentary here. Horner makes his debut in this tournament which was weird and Hawk’s first singles match on TV. Horner starts good but Hawk would soon use his power to take control. Horner would counter out of a press slam though into an O’Connor Roll to get the huge upset victory. This is definite extra material. Tommy Rogers vs. Dale Veasy (3/10/84) This is JIP with Rogers hitting a HUGE splash off the top rope to win. Next we get a promo from Bundy on Volkoff and Rogers with Pez Whatley. The Spoiler vs. Steve Brinson (3/10/84) Squash and a promo afterwards. Rocky Jones vs. Larry Santana (3/10/84) Jones was a Zbyszko protégé hence why he got work here. King Kong Bundy vs. Joe Turner (2/25/84) This is over in a minute. Then we get a promo from Ellering & Roadies. The Spoiler vs. Roger Bond (3/3/84) Squash. Next we get a promo by Bundy. National TV Title: Jake “The Snake” Roberts © vs. “Hands of Stone” Ronnie Garvin (2/25/84) The fans voted his as their dream match and Garvin comes out at the bell for the win as he gets a quick inside cradle for a nearfall. Jake really controls the early part of the match using a rope to choke Garvin on the mat and kept Garvin grounded for a long while. Garvin would punch Jake in the side to break up the attack and started firing punches to the body in bunches. Jake takes a real pounding here and Ellering tries to get him to leave the ring but he won’t so Jake takes another way out as he punches Scrappy McGowan for the DQ. Garvin doesn’t care though as he continues to beat the hell out of Jake befor a big pull apart with all the jobbers coming out. This was a really good match before the screwy finish and I'm throwing it on the block. Les Thornton vs. Mike Starbuck (3/3/84) Squash. Then we get promos from Brad & Garvin. Pistol Pez Whatley & Jay Youngblood vs. The Road Warriors (Animal & Hawk) (3/3/84) This was a back and forth match to start until Ellering gives a sign to the camera and Freddie Miller would come out to give Ole a message saying that Brett Sawyer was on the phone. The Roadies chunk Whatley to the floor as Ellering comes in the ring and they paint Youngblood with white paint. Bundy would come in the ring to clean house as Youngblood stands there angry about his heritage being desecrated. Ole comes out and says that no one was on the phone and he puts it all together. Ole & Solie were great on the selljob here. This whole angle is a definite extra and a intricate one for the times. Sweet Brown Sugar vs. Jesse Barr (3/3/84) Sugar looks good here and Barr handles himself well. Next we get promos from Jake & Spoiler. Nikolai Volkoff vs. Terry Ellis (2/25/84) Squash. Then we get clips of Flair vs. Brad Armstrong from the Omni on 2/26/84.
