Posted April 3, 201312 yr comment_5540835 Kendo Nagasaki vs. Jerry Grey (September 1982) Squash with a babyface Kevin Sullivan on commentary. Scott McGhee vs. Tommy Wright (September 1982) Good little match. Florida Heavyweight Title Tournament: Barry Windham vs. Jake Roberts (September 1982) This is JIP with Windham having a noseguard over a broken nose. Always fun watching Jake work in regular tights and boots. Sullivan is on commentary here and he is still a total babyface but the winds of change are soon to blow. Jake just nuked him with a DDT but Barry fights back up and dumps Jake over the top rope that Bill Alfonso doesn't see. They fight on the apron with Jake backdropping Windham back in the ring and getting counted out. Jake then gives Windham a high kneelift for good measure. Butch Reed & Sweet Brown Sugar vs. King Kong Tonga & Tommy Wright (September 1982) So odd hearing Les Thatcher on commentary in Florida with Coach John Heath. Reed & Sugar were really good as a team and Tonga looked awesome. Wright does a good job in his role and the action is good back and forth stuff. Sugar plays FIP a bit before tagging in Reed who presses Wright before the match is over. Florida Heavyweight Title Tournament: Barry Windham vs. Jimmy Garvin (September 1982) This is JIP with Ron Bass on commentary. Windham's nose is bandaged with no guard now. We get no finish, "Big Nasty" Angelo Mosca vs. Tommy Wright (September 1982) Squash with Garvin on commentary. Terry Allen vs. Jerry Grey (September 1982) The future Magnum TA looks good here and wins with an atomic drop. Terry Allen & Scott McGhee vs. The Texan & Tommy Wright (November 1982) Fairly easy win for the faces. Rufus R. Jones d. Jerry Grey (November 1982) Rufus wins easily. Brian Blair & Barry Windham vs. Jimmy Garvin & Big John Studd (November 1982) Garvin & Studd were Global Tag champs here. Blair & Windham look really good early taking it to Garvin with Blair hitting Bill Alfonso as he had Garvin in an airplane spin. Alfonso stops the match and calls for a DQ because Studd jumped in the ring. Terrible finish. Kevin Sullivan vs. Tommy Wright (November 1982) Sullivan is now a heel and this is extremely early in the run here. Jake is at ringside and we have Allen & McGhee at the commentary table doing Hindu squats for some reason. Jake "The Snake" Roberts & Kevin Sullivan vs. Terry Allen & Scott McGhee (11/24/82) Sullivan is in the corner in a shirt and jeans for some reason. The heels run over the faces here with Allen working FIP but McGhee comes in a house of fire hitting a big German Suplex on Jake before the action breaks down with Sullivan using his cowboy boot to batter McGhee. Barry Windham vs. Tommy Wright (November 1982) Good win for Barry who gets busted open here. Tito Santana vs. A.J. Petruzzi (1/28/85) And now we have some WWF from Brantford, Ontario with Jack Reynolds & Jesse the Body Ventura on commentary. The US Express (Mike Rotundo & Barry Windham) vs. Rene Goulet & Moondog Rex (1/28/85) They don't go overboard with the US gimmick here since they are in Canada. Windham looks good here especially his sunset flip off the top rope on Rex. "Russian Bear" Ivan Koloff vs. Jim Powell (9/11/82) Now we are at Techwood Studios for this and Powell actually gets a couple of nearfalls here. "Mad Dog" Buzz Sawyer vs. Ken Hall (9/11/82) Ole buries Michael Hayes on commentary here which is something. Sawyer destroyed Hall during and after the match before Tom Prichard showed up and got kicked in the face then thrown from the ring face first to the floor. Holy shit what a bump he took there. Extra material. Matt Borne vs. Larry Hamilton (9/11/82) Borne was starting to make a name for himself while Hamilton was just starting. Good little match. "Russian Bear" Ivan Koloff vs. Ken Hall (9/18/82) Squash. Tom Prichard vs. Jim Powell (9/18/82) Spotlight match for Prichard. The Wild Samoans (Afa & Sika) vs. Bob McKenzie & Jim Powell (10/2/82) Squash. Abdullah the Butcher vs. Jim Powell (10/2/82) Powell had a bad day that day. The Great Kabuki vs. Zane Smith (10/9/82) Squash. "Mad Dog" Buzz Sawyer vs. Randy Mulkey (11/27/82) Yep it's one of the Mulkey twins getting squashed. Brad Armstrong & Tito Santana vs. Paul Brown & Pat Rose (12/11/82) Decent. "Russian Bear" Ivan Koloff vs. Ron Ritchie (December 1980) Squash.
