Posted April 13, 201312 yr comment_5541991 Steel Cage Match for the Canadian Heavyweight Title - SR: George Scott: Iron Sheik © vs. "King Kong" Angelo Mosca (12/28/80) Sheik had an issue of running away from Mosca in past matches so the cage is there to keep him in. Not real good until we get juice from Mosca which adds some drama to the match as Sheiky works over the cut. Mosca repays Sheiky by throwing him in the cage bringing out the juice from him as the crowd goes nuts. Mosca would pull Sheik off the top rope on him for a nearfall with everyone thinking Sheiky won but George Scott counted two. Mosca would come back though hitting his Canadian Stampede to win the title and looking back it looks like the finished was botched earlier so they went back and did it. George Wells wearing a fucking brown leather suit during the celebration was awesome. Roddy Piper is out next wearing a tuxedo and celebrating his victory over Flair for the US title in Raleigh on 1/27/81. Piper is awesome here as he has a present for Flair with Flair opening it up and it's the NWA World TV Title belt. Piper said that it's the only way that Flair could get it but Flair said that he doesn't want to win the title unless he wins it in the ring. Flair then brings out the foreign object that Piper used to beat him and Flair thanked the fan who brought it to the promoter. Piper is fantastic here selling his outrage then Flair takes off his awesome jacket and rips it up saying he doesn't give a damn. Then we get clips of the title change with Flair narrating. Definite extra. (1/28/81) Blackjack Mulligan is out next and he wants to swing the Iranian Clubs for the $1,000 so he demands Sheiky come out. Sheiky does and he swings the clubs then keeps calling Mulligan a big dummy which is hilarious. Sheiky attacks Mulligan of course with Gene Anderson's cane then whips him with a belt. Mulligan then cuts a spirited promo afterwards. Extra material. Then we get clips of Crusher/Baron vs. Blackwell/Studd. No DQ Match: "Nature Boy" Ric Flair & Dewey Robertson vs. "Rowdy" Roddy Piper & "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka (5/4/81) Piper & Snuka teaming together is a hoot and they spend the early portion of this trying to stay away from Flair but they would catch him and then doubled him up in their corner. Flair would get the hot tag to Dewey who would hit some big slams as the crowd goes nuts then works over Piper. Dewey would eventually get caught though and was controlled by the heels for a good bit before getting the hot tag to Flair who runs wild on Snuka. Flair would get caught again though but Dewey would dropkick his back as Snuka had him for a slam to get the win. Very fun TV match and I'll push this as a low-end pick. Next we get clips of Verne's retirement match. Then we get clips of a brawl between Piper & Tony Parisi from Maple Leaf. Next we get clips of Flair/Ivan Koloff in a steel cage from Greensboro on 7/5/81 with Steamer narrating along with Flair. Ole Anderson gets involved throwing the chain in the cage then Steamer comes out trying to get in and this is a wild brawl. Extra material. Then we get clips of Hi-Flyers vs. East West from Winnipeg. Canadian TV Title: Jay Youngblood © vs. Johnny Weaver (6/29/82) These guys were tag partners and good friends so you get a total babyface match here. A young Bill Alfonso was the referee here and he was involved in the best spot of the match as he got caught in an Indian Death Lock with Youngblood & Weaver. Alfonso motioned for help but got Jim Nelson instead who attacked Youngblood. Weaver would then hit a backdrop for the pinfall and said that he doesn't want to win the title that way. Next we get clips of Duncum/Santana from Winnipeg. Then we get clips of Hogan/Duncum from St. Paul. Next we get clips of an Al Tomko/Timothy Flowers cage match from Vancouver. Then we get an angle with Timothy Flowers & Tiger Jeet Singh's brother with clips of the Flowers/Singh match to follow.
