Posted May 22, 201312 yr comment_5545260 This starts with a visual of Sullivan with Buzz Sawyer on a leash. Then we get clips of Dusty vs. Sullivan from Lakeland with a fake Midnight Rider attacking Dusty. Extra material. Next we get a promo from Dusty with clips of him & Adrian Street against Buzz & Sullivan on 4/21/84. This was Street's first time as a babyface and the finish here had Dusty trying to save Miss Linda from Sullivan but he used a spike in his chest. The NWA is threatening suspensions but Dusty said he doesn't give a damn and goes off. Extra material. Next we get Sullivan running around the ring with a python around his neck which scares Solie. (4/25/84) Mike Rotundo vs. Kevin Sullivan (5/2/84) Style clash here as Rotundo wants to wrestle and Sullivan wants to brawl. After some decent back and forth action Sullivan posts Rotundo and Mike Davis who does commentary goes over to help him but Sullivan stares at him making him stand still and Sullivan bashes him in the head with a steel chair. "American Dream" Dusty Rhodes vs. "Purple Haze" Mark Lewin (5/9/84) Total brawl from the start as Lewin bashed Dusty with a wooden chair on the floor and Dusty starts juicing but he comes back and works over Lewin's left arm. Dusty would get Lewin in the figure-four when Molokai ran out handing Sullivan a spike which was intended for Dusty but Blackjack Mulligan ran in and took the spike instead. Dusty goes nuts and the faces run out of the back to tend to Mulligan. Wild angle and this is a definite extra. Chavo & Hector Guerrero vs. Mike Rotundo & Barry Windham (6/13/84) This is a good TV match here with the Guerreros getting spotlighted against the top face team in the area. Everyone works hard here and the Windham/Chavo sections make me want a singles match. They would dump Barry over the top rope to the floor where Dick Slater would run out to give him a neckbreaker on the floor causing the match to be thrown out. Then we get clips of Rotundo/One Man Gang from Orlando on 6/24/84. "American Dream" Dusty Rhodes vs. One Man Gang (4/18/84) Gang tries to put away Dusty quick with a splash but he misses and Dusty locks on the figure-four leglock where he supposedly breaks Gang's leg which was a way for him to go to Japan. Next we get Take 5 with One Man Gang with clips of him against Dusty on 7/7/84 in Lakeland where he accidentally splashed his manager Sir Oliver Humperdink. Ron Bass & Superstar Billy Graham attacked Gang and destroyed him for that. Then there are clips of the heels throwing Gang's stuff out of the locker room and him picking it up after the match. Gang cuts a promo all confused about everything. Dusty then cuts a promo saying that he would take him on as a partner. Extra material. Then we get clips of the debut of Fallen Angel with Kevin Sullivan before a match and this is quite the spectacle. Definite extra. (July 1984) Next we get Solie welcoming Dory Funk Jr. back to the area after close to a 2 year absence and of course he wants to face Dusty saying that he is running scared from him with help from his political connections. Billy Jack would then show up saying that he wants to meet Dory but says that he is the finest wrestler to come out of Texas other than Dusty Rhodes which earned him a slap in the face. I loved this angle. Extra material. (7/25/84) Blackjack Mulligan & One Man Gang vs. The Long Riders (Ron Bass & Black Bart) (7/25/84) That's quite the face team. This is a fight from the beginning and they go to the floor where Bill Alfonso calls for the bell counting both teams out. Dory Funk Jr. vs. Mike Rotundo (7/25/84) Dory has his bullwhip here and he is swinging it like crazy at the start. Dory tries to outwrestle Mike early but Mike gets the best of him every time and Dory starts getting frustrated. After a great Airplane Spin, Dory takes Rotundo's momentum and sends him over the top rope. Dory then locks on the spinning toehold on the fallen Rotundo before Billy Jack runs out and locks on the full-nelson before THE SAINT!!! runs out to save Dory. Saint was Fidel Sierra. Extra material. The Dream vs. Denny Brown (7/25/84) The Dream is Mike Davis working the Dusty Rhodes impostor gimmick. This is great stuff here as Mike is a good demonic Dusty. Definite extra. Flair is out next cutting a promo about how great he is, how he wants Dusty, and then hits on Barbara Clary saying what are the 3 words that he has never heard in Florida which are "Where's The Beef." Scott McGhee vs. "Nature Boy" Ric Flair (8/1/84) Flair is put to the test here by McGhee who he doesn't take very seriously until he starts eating offense from him. Flair tries to put McGhee away but he can't do it as Scott kicks out and keeps fighting back. McGhee would reverse a Flair suplex attempt and caught him with a German Suplex hold to beat Flair clean. Tremendous finish to a really good match and everyone goes nuts when McGhee gets the pin. This is an easy nomination. One Man Gang vs. "Outlaw" Ron Bass (8/1/84) Gang jumps Bass at the bell even using his chain as a weapon but he would miss a splash into the corner allowing Bass to make a comeback. Bass gets some offense in but Gang soon makes his own comeback taking it to the floor where Black Bart would run out for the DQ. They doubled up on Gang until Pistol Pez Whatley would run out to make the save. Then we get clips of Billy Jack/Saint from 7/31/84 with Dory Jr. running out and we get a Billy promo afterwards. Billy Jack vs. Black Bart (8/7/84) Total sprint here with Bart jumping Jack to start and taking it to him before he tried to use some type of weapon on Billy but Billy blocked out and put him out with the full-nelson. Billy then drug Bart to the microphone where he demanded to know where the weapon came from and Bart yelled out Funk. Florida Heavyweight Title: Scott McGhee © vs. "Outlaw" Ron Bass (8/7/84) Bass talks all kinds of shit to McGhee before the match and after the bell rings he turns around and gets inside cradled for the pinfall. They are pushing McGhee to the moon here. Hangman's Noose Match: Blackjack Mulligan vs. Kevin Sullivan (8/7/84) Sullivan's entrance here is wild with Michael Jackson's Thriller blasting in the background. Sullivan attacks Mulligan at the bell and bashes him with a steel chair forcing out the juice. Mulligan soon makes a comeback until Sullivan's army runs out and they hang Mulligan until Mike Graham makes the save. Mulligan then cuts an angry promo afterwards. Bass is out next talking about he wants another match with McGhee saying it was a fluke. Florida Heavyweight Title: Scott McGhee © vs. "Outlaw" Ron Bass (8/8/84) Bass is smarter now and doesn't take Scott lightly as he keeps control for most of the match even getting his bulldog headlock but McGhee kicks out. Bass keeps up the pressure as he breaks out a piledriver but even that doesn't put McGhee away and Bass is now frustrated because he can't get the job done. Bass would slam McGhee from the apron back into the ring but McGhee would reverse it into another inside cradle and got the win again. Fun match. Dory is out next saying that he wants Billy Jack and has an open contract so Mike Graham comes out saying that he wants the contract which leads to some face slapping by both men and a match. Dory Funk Jr. vs. Mike Graham (8/29/84) This match is split over two discs as it starts out more of a technical style before going to the next disc where Dory is using more shortcuts and roughhousing tactics.
