DDP makes a point of saying he and Kimberly are proud of her Playboy appearance, not ashamed. Were they getting criticism for that at the time?

 

Savage does another interruption from the crowd and gets a big "Macho Sucks" chant. They get a few good lines out at each other. This feud is clicking now.

I THINK there may have been an implication somewhere in the storyline building to this that Kim was a slut and Page was a wimp for letting his wife pose naked.

I was not yet on the net at this point (would be a month later) but wasn't there a story of Kim going online and trying to work the smarts saying Savage was crazy "for real"?

also, IIRC, Kim was basically begging to get airtime to promote the Playboy issue. Maybe standards and practices had issues with it

Savage yelling Brother, brother, brother, brother never gets old. These two have done a good job of selling the match at Stampede as a grudge match. Especially Page as this has been the first big shot he has had and he is maximizing the opportunity.

DDP is proud of Kimberly going nude. That's cool but what's the real issue? Elizabeth is hotter than Kimberly. She seemed to be embracing the heel side way more here than her run in the Horsemen. Savage really punks out DDP. Randy's glasses has perfect symmetry with his bandana.

I love this exchange. Yeah, DDP sure can be proud of having his wife get the Playboy centerfold. Hater's gonna hate. Savage is gold here, and DDP's last reply was pretty damn classic. Liz looked to have a lot of fun working as a heel along Savage.

Liz has finally clued Savage in on his rival's name. Savage declares that DDP has no family jewels at all. DDP responds with a good Savage impersonation and a good line about the Lady and the Tramp. I like how Savage works as a traditional heel, in contrast to Hall & Nash who tend to no-sell everything the babyfaces say. Here he puts over Page as getting the best of this particular exchange.
