September 5, 201312 yr Author comment_5560572 Loud "EDDY SUCKS" chant start this off. Short TV match, but great action. Rey comes dangerously close to botching a few spots and saves himself pretty awesomely. He's obviously still not 100%, but gets a clean pin on Eddy which pops the crowd big.
September 22, 201312 yr comment_5564300 Announcers mention we are looking for a new commissioner for WCW. Rey did botch that springboard big time and amazing they were still able to hit the headscissors in motion. Guerrero hits some powermoves on smaller Rey. Mess ups didn’t stop Rey from continuing to go back to the high flying stuff.
March 8, 201411 yr comment_5592678 I have been enjoying most of WCW commentary this year but they really derail this match talking about everything else. Did they say DDP/Luger were supposed to be in the Wargames match at this point? Oy. The action here is a fun sprint in their series and Rey is testing out his injury with some crazy spots that he nearly wipes out on. Cool, upset finish with him getting the win.
September 2, 201411 yr comment_5622353 Terrific short Nitro match. Crazy to think Rey has been injured that often during his WCW tenure, as he would be out again in 98 and 99. Eddie catching Rey from different angles is impressives, as are the ways Rey saves himself. Even not at 100%, Rey still looked like the best worker in WCW as soon as he came back.
January 19, 20169 yr comment_5721517 Terrific TV match, one of the best WCW TV bouts in awhile--Rey isn't "better than ever," but he is indeed back. I agree about the commentary--WCW still doesn't really know and would never figure out how to maximize Rey's considerable star power, something the big-man world of WWE did a much better job of. Here Schiavone subtly shits on Rey for doing his dives on a bad leg, and Larry fucking Zbyszko of all people does a good job of covering and putting Rey over for it. Rey's winning pin gets a huge pop but his return should have been treated as a bigger deal.
