Atlantis/El Dandy/Popitekus vs. Gran Markus Jr./Pirata Morgan/Ulises (5/26/89)

That's quite the tecnico team there. Ulises is Tony Salazar under a hood and he is fun working with Dandy early on. Atlantis & Pirata then came in and tore it up on the mat which was fun as well. I dug Pirata's look at this stage as he looked like a UWFi guy wearing an eyepatch. The big guys came in and Popi looked really good here even impressing Markus who shook his hand before the left the ring. The rest of the fall was just really good lucha action with Pirata bumping hard to the floor and Dandy/Ulises doing mirror spots before the rudos take the fall. Atlantis & Ulises looked really good against each other to start the 2nd fall and it was nice to see the matchups get mixed up here. I dug Markus' standing monkey flip on Dandy so Popi decided to one up hitting a reverse armdrag off the top rope. In the end though Dandy would get Ulises in a Casita and Atlantis with a nice moonsault on Pirata to even the falls. Markus jumped in and raised the tecnicos' hands after the fall which was nice sportsmanship. The tecnicos then helped the rudos up and this has become all lovey dovey. The 3rd fall finally saw Dandy/Pirata have an exchange it was really fun. Popi was AWESOME next with Ulises bouncing around like a pinball and showing his aerial grace. Popi then takes a HUGE bump to the floor where Pirata kills him with a tope suicida leaving Atlantis & Ulises in the ring where Ulises would crush him with a senton to get the win. Everyone then raises each other's hands afterwards in respect and I thought this was a blast. Sure it didn't have any real heat but it was 6 guys trying to impress the other and I like that. Fairly easy nomination.

Dandy-Ulises square off early and it was awesome. Morgan-Atlantis up next and this was even better. Next Markus works on Pop's arm and I enjoyed the hell out of this pairing too up until the slo-mo choreography. Oof the cameraman keeps focusing on the boots. popetikus fucks something up in the corner but they recover and let Dandy and Ulises finish off the fall with the rudos picking up Fall 1. Fall 2 was solid but Popetikus sorta sucks. However, Morgan takes a back flat bump on the concrete and Pop actually goes outside and helps him up. Dandy-Ulises resume their cool shit and Dandy gets a la magistral roll for the 2nd fall. Man, Popetikus was sucking some more until his big splat outside followed by a Morgan dive. Everyone else was awesome. Didn't like this as much as Kris but it was strong enough to go on the set. Interested to hear Phil's thoughts.

I am pretty sure I have seen this match before, but not sure how. Really like this kind of exhibition lucha, and it was done really well here. I am much closer to Kris then Will on Popi's performance, he blew a couple of things, but he also showed tremendous agility and grace for such a fat dude. Loved Atlantis in this as he was just amazing with his agility. Would like to watch this next to the the 8/89 Blue Panther + Emilio Charles + Hombre Bala v. Blue Demon + Javier Cruz + Hombre Sin Nombre which I remember being a similar style match
