'Kay.

Drums - Scott Travis (Judas Priest; go listen to the song "Painkiller" to see why).

Bass - Steve Harris (Iron Maiden; Duh)

Rhythm Guitar - Jon Schaffer (Iced Earth; the guy is a riff monster)

Lead Guitar - Rocky George (Suicidal Tendencies; He seems to be able to solo, without actually soloing, if that makes sense. Like, he'll stick in things that should be solos while the vocals are still going, and it can sound fucking sweet)

Vocals - Mike Patton (Faith No More and a bunch of other stuff; Mostly because I wanted to use only one person per band, and I already used up the bands with my favourite singers, plus he's REALLY fucking talented.)

i remember doing this topic back on WDI.

Jimi Hendrix - Lead Guitar

Keith Richards - Rhythm Guitar

James Jamerson - Bassist

Charles Connor - Drums

Miles Davis - Trumpet

Charlie Parker - Saxophonist

Nina Simone - Piano/Vocals

Marvin Gaye - Vocals

Possibly the ultimate blues/jazz/funk band.

Dave Navarro - Lead Guitar

Jeff Buckley - Rhythm Guitar/Vocals

Gord Sinclair - Bassist

Lars Ulrich - Drums

Freddie Mercury - Vocals

A pretty diverse mix that could lend itself to lots of improvisation. Plus I think the fragile but powerful voice of Buckley would compliment but contrast with Mercury's equally gifted but stronger and more dynamic skills.
