WWC World Heavyweight Title: Carlos Colon © vs. Tully Blanchard (Fall 1983) Tully is in chickenshit mode early and often here baiting Colon who comes back firing some great punches. Tully would use a foreign object to get the advantage on Colon and started working him over with some really good left handed punches. Tully would send Colon to the floor where he would throw him into the crowd which brought over the cops to keep the order while Tully would run back and forth to the railing keeping Colon on the other side. Tully at one point tried to pin Colon on the floor but this wasn't a falls count anywhere match which was funny. Colon runs around the ring to start his comeback which was great and he came back in teeing off on Tully before sending him to the floor. Colon threw Tully over the railing and he was taking it to Tully with the railing keeping him standing so he could take more punishment. Colon hitting a jumping headbutt off the railing was sweet as the referee was doing his best to get them back in the ring. Tully would come back getting an atomic drop on the railing but Colon had balls of steel and he finally gets the fight back in the ring. Colon would then start working over the left knee setting up the figure-four which he would get but Tully would get the ropes. Colon kept up the pressure and started pounding him on the floor until Tully kneed him in the balls then hit a desperation left hook back in the ring. Colon fights back though and hits his own nutshot as payback but Tully would throw him back to the floor. Colon comes off top but has to leap over the referee and got stomach punched by Tully which was a cool spot. This is turning into a slugfest before the ref gets bumped and as he is laying on the mat Tully tries to suplex Colon but trips and falls with Colon falling on top to win. There was no blood here but I really dug this match a lot as it was a slugfest with both guys looking really good. This feels like a solid nomination.

El Gran Apollo vs. Dick Steinborn (February 1983) Nice little match here with Apollo coming out on top. Steinborn was really good as the grizzled veteran.

Lumberjack Match: Abdullah the Butcher & Carlos Colon vs. Bruiser Brody & Stan "The Lariat" Hansen (October 1984) This was the 2nd match of their big 3 match series and the deal was that Brody & Hansen took out Colon's friends so Carlos had to pay off Abby to help him take on the badass Texans. Abby juices almost immediately then everyone else would soon follow and this is nothing but a fucking brawl. The lumberjacks would soon follow and it becomes a battle royal. Short but definitely fun as the finish was chaotic as they brawled into the dugouts in the stadium and into the bathrooms where Tom Renesto was actually taking a piss which was hilarious. This is extra material no doubt.

Abdullah Tamba vs. Gorilla Monsoon (9/17/83) This is one of the very last Monsoon matches and he jobbed in less than 90 seconds.

Bunkhouse Match: Carlos Colon & The Fabulous Moolah vs. Dory & Marti Funk (July 1985) This is quite the matchup here no doubt. Marti would always interfere in Dory & Carlos' matches so Carlos got Moolah to team with him. Dory wearing a tie to the ring was a bad move as Carlos would use the tie as leverage to pound on him. Then you have the rain as a factor and it makes for an interesting watch. Marti & Moolah don't do much of anything but at least Dory takes a lot of punishment even from Moolah. It would eventually break down into a 4-way brawl with Dory throwing Moolah over the top rope leaving the Funks to work over Carlos but Moolah comes back and then grabs a foreign object out of her shirt to bash Dory then starts ripping Marti's clothes. Dory's pants are now ripped off just like his wife and they get pinned after a double dropkick by Colon & Moolah. This was quite the spectacle.

Next we get clips of a Brody/Abby brawl all over a stadium.

Then we get clips of Andre the Giant/Colon/Pedro Morales vs. Ox Baker/Kendo Nagasaki/Tamba from 1983.

Abdullah the Butcher & King Tonga vs. Gino Dellaserra & Pierre Martel (February 1983) This is basically a squash as Gino got killed here.

Next we get clips of Invader vs. Roddy Piper and I wished we had this in full.

Bruiser Bob Sweetan vs. Moose Monroe (1984) God this was bad.

WWC North American Heavyweight Title: "Macho Man" Randy Savage © vs. Hercules Ayala (3/2/85) We get a great promo from Savage before the match and great seeing the fans throwing trash at Savage as he walks to the ring. The story early is that Savage tries to outpower Ayala and fails hugely. Savage gets beaten from pillar to post while playing total chickenshit stalling whenever he could then caught Ayala with a low blow to finally get on the offensive but as he came off the top rope he got caught in a bearhug although another cheapshot gave Savage the chance he needed. Ayala to his credit though fought back quickly and again had Savage reeling but Savage would sneak a chain out of his tights to put Ayala down but not for the count as Ayala got his foot on the rope. Ayala pops right back up and comes back fighting but Savage knees him in the face then goes for the elbow but missed. Savage then got out his chain fast again and clocked Ayala but still couldn't beat him. Ayala is juicing but gets up and goes for Savage's chain which he gets and he nailed Savage pinning him to win the title. God I wanted more from this match considering Savage was involved but there just isn't enough here for a nomination.

I tried multiple media players but could not get this disc to play at all. However some of this stuff I have already seen and some was on youtube, so I just went over there and checked out what I needed to see.

My thoughts on the Lumberjack match from the PR thread:

This is JIP. No clue how much of this is missing. The pre-match footage of Colon going to Abby and his business manager and paying him big cash to team with him v. the evil white guys is pretty great. Just the look Abby gives the camera, sitting behind his desk, tossing the money down, with his ridiculous hat on. It's fucking hysterical. The rest of this was perfectly fun as a senseless, insane spectacle. Very short match, with the Lumberjacks spilling into the ring and all hell breaks lose. All four guys bleed and then they brawl into the dugout and dressing rooms. Hugo and Bobby Jaggers make sure to note that Tom Renesto is taking a piss as Colon beats the shit out of Brody and Hansen with a nightstick he lifted off of a cop. Not much of a match really, but this is pretty much the sort of thing you expect with these pairings. I agree it's an EXTRA

Carlos Colon & The Fabulous Moolah vs. Dory & Marti Funk

A mess of a match, but still pretty entertaining. As a spectacle you've got the rain,Dory's ripped up formal wear, Marti being a surprisingly effective heel, Moolah running around like a jackass and Colon trying to hold it together. This could be an EXTRA

Abdullah the Butcher & King Tonga vs. Gino Dellaserra & Pierre Martel

Randy Savage © vs. Hercules Ayala

Thoughts from the PR thread.

Macho's pre-match promo is great. Especially the weird sex line. Savage comes to the ring and is getting pelted by shit so he chases after ringside fans waiving his title belt over his head like a weapon and they scatter. Great shit. This was worked kind of like Candido v. Great Khali, with Savage as Candido and Ayala as Khali. Just all bumps, stooging, stalling, crazy mannerisms, et as he works around the obvious limitations of Ayala. I especially loved the way he airballed up against the ropes and on the big elbow. He takes over briefly with hide the chain spots, but the conclusion of this sees Ayala rip the chain from the Macho's nuts and pin him after a big shot. Maybe that's what the sex comment was about? Post-match little kids swarm the ring and this is the sort of match that makes you love Savage and PR wrestling all that much more.

I rewatched it because I hadn't already nominated it and watching it again I think it's a fun stuff, easily better than some stuff that has been nominated already and it would be cool to get a Savage match on the set.
