This is one of the greatest DVD's I've ever seen.

 

NWA International Heavyweight Title: Stan "The Lariat" Hansen © vs. Carlos Colon (October 1986) Hansen attacks Colon at the bell then the referee before choking Colon with his bullrope then posting him. Hansen just destroys Colon and is on a total rampage here pounding on the bloody Colon. A new referee shows up to get the match going with Hansen just continuing his rampage doing whatever he had to do to fuck Colon up but of course Colon would become Superman and fought back as the crowd goes nuts. Colon pounds Hansen bloody then bites on the cut forcing more juice to flow. Al Perez would come out and gave Hansen something to load up for his lariat which he would hit and Hansen would win the match. Another insane WWC brawl and an easy nomination.

 

Universal Heavyweight Title: Carlos Colon © vs. Stan "The Lariat" Hansen (11/9/86) This is a wild brawl at the bell as Colon uses Hansen's bullrope and they go at a fast pace immediately with both men trading the advantage and early juice from Hansen. They go from inside the ring to the baseball field where Hansen bashed Colon's head into anything he could before missing a lariat into the ringpost allowing Colon to work over the left arm furiously. Colon just kicks the shit out of Hansen next as he bites away at the cut but Hansen gets something in his armbrace and hits the lariat on Colon but Huracan Castillo jumps in the ring and tells the ref about the foreign object so Hansen attacks him then piledrives Colon before hitting the lariat on a grounded Castillo. This was a fantastic brawl and a slam dunk nomination as it was just action from the bell with great heat.

 

Carlos Colon & Huracan Castillo vs. Stan "The Lariat" Hansen & Chicky Starr (12/21/86) Of course this is a brawl at the start as everyone is throwing shots at the others both in the ring and out of the ring. Colon would then get worked over as the rudos kept him in their corner so they could get quick double-teams. Colon throws some great punches here to get the hot tag to Huracan who comes in firing away as the crowd goes nuts. Chicky then juices from shots by Huracan then Hansen juices from Colon's punches on the floor then Colon would deliberatly foule Hansen which pissed him off so he put Colon in the three of woe. Castillo then takes punishment as Colon is tied up but the referee wuold break him free and he would tee off on the rudos. Chicky is juicing hard as all four men brawl in the ring so Hansen goes out to get his bullrope and ties it around Colon's neck then hangs him over the top rope. The referee tries to stop him but calls for the bell as Invader I & Miguel Jr. runs off Hansen. This had blood and great punches so I'm throwing it on the block as a low-end pick.

 

Texas Bullrope Match for the Universal Heavyweight Title: Carlos Colon © vs. Stan "The Lariat" Hansen (1/6/87) The crowd is hot for this as this has been built up well over the recent months. Hansen juices very quickly as Colon chokes him with the rope and the fans are going nuts for this. Colon pounds him with the cowbell and Hansen is in big trouble but a rake in the eyes gives him the chance he needed and he took advantage of it. Hansen goes to town on Colon's head with the cowbell which brings out the juice from Colon. The action would go back and forth with both men trading offense and Hansen being the only one to try to touch the corners but we have the spot where Colon touches the corners with Hansen leading to a great tug of war between them with the fans going insane after Colon backdrops Hansen then jumping to touch the turnbuckle. This was great stuff as the crowd gave this a great backdrop for both men to beat each other bloody before the nice finish. Easy nomination.

 

Next is Chicky Starr's Sport Shop with Carlos Colon which turns out well of course plus we get clips of Colon/Hansen in a bullrope match from 1/6/87. Chicky spits on Colon then Hansen comes out and destroys Colon with a steel chair then ties him up with the bullrope as Colon juices. Chicky is awesome here rooting Hansen on in English while ripping Colon in Espanol. This was fucking awesome and a slam dunk extra.

 

Universal Heavyweight Title: Carlos Colon © vs. Stan "The Lariat" Hansen (2/28/87) Colon is a fucking madman here just beating the fuck out of Hansen on the outside of the ring at the stadium. The fans are apeshit here as he pounds on Hansen all the way to the stands before Hansen tries to fight back but Colon is fucking Superman and keeps teeing off on the big Texan. Colon draws blood and becomes a vampire working the cut. Hansen is a tough fucker and comes back hitting a big piledriver for a nearfall then hits a desperation backdrop suplex as Colon started another flurry. Hansen would miss a kneedrop which woke up Colon and he started working over the left knee getting ready for the figure-four but he would hit him in the balls a couple of times first for good measure. Colon just kept working over the knee but couldn't get the hold as Hansen found a way to keep Colon from locking it on. The battle would go to the floor and Colon tried to lock the figure-four on the floor but Hansen would throw a chair like a rocket bouncing right off Colon's head. Colon again is Superman and gets Hansen back in the ring where he finally gets the figure-four with Hansen selling like crazy before getting the ropes. Colon keeps working over the knee before coming off the top rope with a jumping headbutt which prompted the 2nd figure-four of the match. Hansen is in the middle of the ring and selling like crazy and they battle in the hold for a nice little bit until Colon has to get the ropes to keep the hold on before Hansen grabs a crutch from someone at ringside and jabs Colon in the ribs for the DQ. Hansen tries to hit Colon but falls down because of his knee so Colon gets the crutch and hits him with it instead. This was an awesome damn match and the ending didn't bother me because Colon was trying to break Hansen's leg and was using the ropes so Hansen had to go with desperate tactics to keep his leg from being broken. Slam dunk nomination.

 

Steel Cage Match for the Universal Heavyweight Title: Carlos Colon © vs. Stan "The Lariat" Hansen (3/14/87) This is the blowoff match for one of the greatest feuds of the decade I think now. Amazing how I never knew how great this feud was. This is just a tremendous steel cage match and worked perfectly for a blowoff match as these guys go to fucking war on each other with the blood flowing like water. The stretch run here was fantastic as the fans were out of their minds and then go completely insane as the locker room starts clearing on the floor for a wild fucking brawl. The atmosphere here is insane then Colon eventually walks out of the cage and starts fighting with everyone and I am so much in fucking love with this finish, GOD DAMN THIS WAS AWESOME.........Walkoff Grand Slam nomination.

Of all the things I've watched for the first time in 2013, this feud was my favorite. Within two months, they produced serious contenders for best bullrope/chain match of all time and best cage match of all time. The cage match is a MOTD contender for me.

It's possible that this feud could have 3 of the Top 5 matches on this set.

I'm just bummed that their 1984 matches aren't available.

Are there any rare Puerto Rico VHS tapes? I remember Champion, the video store I got Dandy/Morgan from, had a whole Puerto Rico section.
