Posted October 9, 201311 yr comment_5566761 WWC North American Heavyweight Title: Abdullah the Butcher © vs. TNT (1/6/89) Starts out slow but the crowd goes nuts when TNT steals Abby's stick and uses it on him but Abby would knock it out and the referee picked it up. Abby of course pulls another one out and uses it on TNT so now we have double juice. This becomes a gorefest with TNT using his karate strikes before they would go to some big moves trying to put the other one away with TNT breaking out a monkey flip. TNT kept up the big strikes hitting multiple superkicks before wrapping his leg around the ringpost. Abby is on the ropes here but he fights back on the floor before a double countout. Another war here and solid nomination.
October 18, 201311 yr comment_5567848 Man I thought this was awesome, it's just a shame this didn't have a more satisfying finish. I'm not sure if I liked this more than the Jovica chain match, but other than that this is probably my favorite Abby PR match of the 80's. I actually really liked that it started out slow and I marked out for the bit with Abby's weapon getting used against him and the ref diving on it when it got free. I'm a vampire fan so I loved the bloody brawling, but I also thought the selling in this was really strong with both guys doing a good job getting over the impact of the others big shots. Abby's backfist were fucking awesome in this too and perfectly timed. We got an Abby monkey flip, TNT with the leg drop flurry, a typically tremendous Puerto Rico crowd. This was just good shit all around.
