Posted October 16, 201312 yr comment_5567583 Flair led Sawyer to an excellent match around this time, so let's see if Buddy can do the same. Buddy delivered some amusement early, schooling Sandy Barr on how to count a fall. This of course led to Barr giving a quick count on a Sawyer roll-up attempt. Not sure if that was exactly the right tone for a ref, but it worked. Buddy then got distracted, jawing with an old woman in the front row to set up another nearfall for Sawyer. This turned into a long first fall with a lot of evenly contested sequences. Sawyer hurt his shoulder near the end but still hooked Buddy in a roll-up to take the pin. He came out wounded to start the second, and Buddy roughly tossed him to the floor. As Sawyer climbed the apron, Buddy pulled him into a superplex, which was a cool way to take a quick second fall. Buddy unleashed the high-end offense to start the third, with press slams and an awesome dropkick that sent Sawyer off the apron and stumbling down the aisle. Sawyer transitioned to his rally a bit quickly. But Buddy cut him off and pinned him with his feet on the ropes. Rocky and Parsons ran in to tell Barr what happened, and we got some fun arguing, with Buddy physically demonstrating his clean pin on Barr. He lost the argument, of course, and Sawyer kept his NW title. I wouldn't call this top-end Portland; the third fall could have been more fully realized. But it's a solid nomination.
