Posted October 19, 201311 yr comment_5568029 They started off with some athletic trading of holds. The highlight was probably Rogers countering a hammerlock with a flying headscissors into a headlock. They got a little chippy midway through, and as they argued about it, Rogers snapped a dropkick into Adams' face. Adams responded with a flash superkick. At that point, I thought the match might become truly excellent. But they struggled to bring it home, alternating flashes of impressive offense with moments of looking lost. I pretty much expected a draw, because, well, that was the way of Portland openers. It was just unfortunate that they had lost the crowd a bit by then. I rode the fence on nominating this. But we are going to want some non-Buddy matches on the set, and the high points were quite good. So you guys should at least take a look. New Portland Disc 23
May 24, 20169 yr comment_5754555 Tommy Rogers vs. Chris Adams (7/31/82) (New Portland 23) - A little slow early on with Adams working the arm. Solid but unspectacular. Great reversal from Rogers who hits a head scissors and grabs a headlock. Things heat up with some back and forth action including powerslams and body slams. Awkward moment that leads to an Adams superkick when Rogers didn’t know what to do waiting for the kick. Both guys miss some moves down the stretch and it ends in a draw. Not enough meat here. There was some flash but not enough substance. Should have been better and worked as a sprint.
