Posted October 19, 201311 yr comment_5568102 I know the yearbooks do some of this, but I was curious if there was maybe a more in-depth version where each month of each year in the 90s' (and 80's could be) for all of Puro has a "best of" to see from that month...some of the stuff wouldnt be yearbook worthy, but could be worthy of seeing... I am guessing this doenst exist and I am still REALLY new in Puro so I couldnt do it...but figured I'd take a shot!
October 19, 201311 yr comment_5568126 But again, between the 80s sets, the yearbooks and Ditch's download sites, you can piece together a pretty good approximation. Unless you want to watch all the TV from a promotion, that's about as deep as you're going to need or want to go.
October 19, 201311 yr Author comment_5568131 Yeah, I know....I just like to dig deep once I get going on something.... But that all makes sense....
October 20, 201311 yr comment_5568140 I understand, believe me. If you really want to go deep on individual years, I'd recommend New Japan '83-'84, '86-'89 and All Japan '89-'93. Though with '80s New Japan, the DVDVR set really does do a lot of the work for you. All Japan was pretty staggering in its week to week quality, especially from '91 to '93. Very few weekly shows without at least one excellent match during those years.
October 20, 201311 yr Author comment_5568148 I am more focused right now on NJPW from 95-99, mostly the G1 and Heavyweight feuds....as good as AJPW was during this era, and GOD DAMN it was...NJPW, at least to me, holds its own with the main event stuff....
October 28, 201311 yr comment_5569417 Yeah, I know....I just like to dig deep once I get going on something.... How is this Japan project coming along?
October 29, 201311 yr Author comment_5569462 Enjoying the hell outta NJPW heavies from 90-92 right now...about to head into 1993.... That, and watching some of the 2000's Puro as well...
October 29, 201311 yr comment_5569627 Bob Barnett used to do four-hour "Best of Japan [insert month]" tapes in the early 90s, which are still listed on his site. They were more "biggest matches that didn't suck", but might be useful as a guide.
October 30, 201311 yr comment_5569783 Just going a little off topic but apart from Will and Barnett is there anybody else who do comps.
