Rose and Henning started off with some really nice armwork. I particularly liked Buddy's butt drop on Dynamite's arm and his running punt on Assassin's. The first fall was a bit more back and forth than typical Portland, but I liked the set-up to the pin. Assassin tried a twisting neckbreaker on Buddy, but Buddy held the rope so Assassin spiked himself. That allowed Buddy to tag Henning, who came in with a sweet dropkick. But Assassin cut him off with a loaded headbutt to the gut and then fed him to Dynamite for a powerslam from the second rope. Say what you want about Dynamite; the man had some badass finishers. Anyhow, the heels pounded on Curt's back for most of the second fall. He blocked and countered a gut-wrench suplex to set up the hot tag to Buddy. Buddy hit his little run of offense and tagged Curt back in. Dynamite and Assassin tried to double team, but Henning ducked both and floored them with a single dropkick. He then finished Assassin with a bridging backdrop suplex. So two nifty fall endings in a row. Henning and Rose worked over Assassin's back to start the third fall. They quickly moved to all four guys fighting in the ring. Dynamite tried to hold Buddy for a running headbutt from Assassin, but Buddy ducked and Assassin busted Dynamite open with the blow. A bloody Dynamite then grabbed a chair from ringside and got himself disqualified as the match descended into chaos. I could see this falling to the extras, given the abrupt third fall. But at least the finish was wild and bloody. Given the names involved and some of the cool stuff from the first two falls, it's at least something everyone should watch.

Dynamite Kid/Assassin vs. Buddy Rose/Curt Henning (10/29/83) (New Portland 41)

- Awesome arm work by Buddy and Hennig in the first fall. The Buddy butt drop on the arm was awesome. The heels take over on Buddy and he is a great FIP seller as well. It looked a tad sloppy but I love the diea. Buddy blocks a reverse neck breaker by holding on to the ropes and the Assassin goes down. Hennig’s weak gut strikes again and it sets up a DK 2nd rope powerslam for the pin. Really fun first fall.

- Heels start off the 2nd fall by killing the back of Hennig. As Hennig was selling the bearhug, it reminded me of a spot early in the 1st fall where Hennig was whipped into the turnbuckle and sold his back. I want to say this was foreshadowing. Great showing by Hennig who worked the fall by himself and got the pin on a back Suplex.

- Faces start the 3rd fall with an attack on the spine of Assassin. DK jumps in and a pier 6 leads to a double ab stretch spot. DK loses his shit and lays waste to the faces. I actually wasn’t bothered by the finish. DK losing his shit and getting busted open was fun enough that this can go on the set.
