Borne tore into Oliver early, setting an unusually aggressive tone for a Portland first fall. We didn't get the usual heel control segment after Assassin cut Borne off with a knee to the gut. Instead, Borne punched his way out of trouble fairly quickly and made the hot tag to Curt. Curt also fought through the usual cutoff and floored Assassin with a running forearm. Oliver tried to break up the pin, but Borne took him out with a flying tackle. Hot fall. The babyfaces controlled Assassin in a headlock to start the second. But Oliver fired a taped thumb to Henning's ribs, which Curt sold like death. Assassin worked Curt 's ribs with a bear hug. Curt punched his way out but couldn't reach Borne. Assassin finally finished him with a nasty driving headbutt. The third fall featured great action from everyone until fucking Wiskowski ran in to break up Borne's Boston Crab on Oliver. Then Buddy ran in to brawl with Wiskowski. They were getting a little lazy with the non-finishes. But again, the action here was good enough that I'll nominate despite the bad finish.

Matt Borne/Curt Henning vs. Assassin/Rip Oliver (3/3/84) (New Portland 46)

- 1st fall, I really liked how Hennig and Borne had no problem cheating (no tags, eye poke) to maintain their control of the heels. Nice arm control by the heels when they took over. Nice ending with Hennig getting the pin.

- 2nd fall, faces go back to the headlock again mixing in some good old fashioned attempts at taking the mask off. Turning the tide by spiking Hennig with the thumb to the gut was something. I feel like I have seen this match before. Hennig tries the spirited comeback but he loses the fall.

- 3rd fall was just heating up when the shmoz happened. I don’t think the last fall takes away from the first two falls. Definitely a mid-level nomination compared to the high end 6 man tags already on the docket. Worthy of moving through though.
