Posted May 13, 201114 yr comment_5471115 Buddy Rose vs. Matt Borne - Oh shit, right away as Buddy is on the turnbuckle, Matt just slams his head in the pole in the corner… twice!!! Then he posts him face first. Shit, Borne is just abusing Buddy here. Borne grabs a chair from ringside and wallops Buddy. Damn, Borne is a man on a mission and Buddy is now busted open. In a cool spot, buddy gets tangled upside down in the ropes and Borne just wails away on the cut. Bonus points for some nasty boot scrapes and a kick to the nuts. A foot drop from the top rope and Borne gets the pin. This was a mauling. - 2nd fall, Borne attacking the cut again. Buddy takes advantage after some stalling and now he gives a receipt to Borne and pounds his head on the turnbuckle pole. It is like Buddy is getting a receipt for every spot from the 1st fall including a chair shot. Rose gets the pin with the driving knee from the corner. Taken with the 1st fall, this was cool as shit. - Buddy mid match interview. - 3rd fall, Buddy stalls and jaws with the fans outside including an old grandma. Borne chases him and he stalls some more. People will not like this in voting but I love it. Only Jerry Lawler does it better. Finally, in the ring, Borne stops Rose form bailing and he gets an atomic drop to the floor for his troubles. Matt Borne holds on to a head vice for a looong time but the payoff, choking Budd with his foot and shoving him out of the ring has to be seen! Borne puts on his head vice again and it looks like Buddy is out but Borne pulls Buddy up and gives him the whoopee cushion. He pulls hi up at two gain and goes outside to get a chair. Too bad Buddy had the brass knux because Borne gets knocked out for the Buddy pin. Man, besides the slow head vice sections, this was AWESOME! NOMINATION. We need to look for a copy in better VQ.
June 16, 201114 yr comment_5473545 Borne started out delivering a merciless beating on Buddy. He rammed the back of his head into the ring post. He hit him with a chair. He gnawed on his forehead. Did Buddy turn heel again or this match from before his face turn? Anyway, he succumbed to the first fall without a fight. The second fall was basically a mirror to the first. Buddy suckered Borne into the corner, kicked him in the gut and did everything to future Doink that future Doink had done to him. The start to the third fall felt a little off. Why would Buddy stall and jaw with the crowd after delivering such an ass beating in fall two? I loved him threatening to slap the grandma but still. Borne resumed dominant position in the third fall until Buddy ended it abruptly with a brass knuckle shot. Hmmm, I had mixed feelings about this one. The vicious beatdowns were great, but the match was devoid of contested moments. It just went from total dominance by one guy to total dominance by the other. I'll still say low-end nomination; I just didn't like it nearly as mcuh as Will.
August 20, 201114 yr Author comment_5480211 YOu must have been in a bad mood when watching this because there is nothing wrong with one guy beating the shit out of another, the other guy deciding he had enough and giving the opponent a reciept. Buddy was jawing with a fan because he was an overconfident asshole. Easy enough.
December 20, 201113 yr comment_5490552 I'm more with Childs on this one. I feel this has some good stuff, but overall is a dissapointment compared to their other bouts. To answer Childs question Rose had turned heel again, and his turn was on Borne.
July 14, 201213 yr comment_5510166 Buddy gets bumped all over, decked with a chair, punched in the face, busted open, tied up upside down in the ropes, et. Fuck the diving stomp that Borne won the fall with actually looked really sick. Really liked the opening stanza. Second fall starts off much the same with Rose bloody and struggling. Loved the spot with Borne biting his finger and Buddy coming back with the eye rakes, back rakes and punches ruled. Then Buddy gives Borne payback with shots into the post. Buddy bloodies Borne, whacks him with a chair and returns all the first fall favors and pins him with a cattle branding. Third fall starts with some stalling including a great exchanged with Buddy and grandma. Borne pants' him and then atomic drops him to the floor where he smacked him against a chair. From there we get some hold work which wasn't out of this world great, but then Borne hits the massive seated senton. He pulls Buddy up and goes to get a chair to hit him with, but Buddy decks him with a foreign object and steals the win. I don't think I liked this quite as much as Will, but I liked it considerably more than shoe and Childs.
November 8, 201311 yr comment_5571619 Just figured out this match is already listed in Buddy doubt, just with no date. Good to see my opinion was the same both times. Buddy was back to his more familiar heel role and back to feuding with Borne. Owen announced the match as no DQ, so Borne was free to bang Buddy's head off the post, gnaw on his forehead and kick him in the nuts. Buddy bled almost from the start, and Borne fired lots of punches at the cut. Buddy didn't get a single move in for the entire fall. Borne started the second with more of the same, but Buddy finally cut him off with an eye rake. That set up a mirror version of the first fall, with Buddy busting Borne open, biting the cut and kicking him low. Buddy also took the pin with little resistance. They changed the rhythm at that point, with Buddy suddenly stalling and threatening to slap an old lady at ringside. Crowd popped big when Borne finally got his hands on Buddy, pulled his trunks halfway down and gave him an atomic drop. Borne dominated again and twice pulled Buddy up on two counts. He went to get a chair but paid for his hubris when Buddy pulled an object from his trunks and coldcocked Borne to set up the pin. Buddy then attacked both Borne and Sandy Barr with the chair. This will surely go on the set because it's a bloody brawl between Buddy and one of his main rivals. But it wasn't quite as good as it might look on paper. The first two falls were so one-sided that the match didn't feel like a fight as much as the blood might have suggested. Good, yes, but not close to the best I've seen from this match-up.
