Posted November 20, 201311 yr comment_5573404 I thought this was a great performance from Chicky against a very green musclehead, in a match that probably should have been terrible. I like Chicky, but he is a hit or miss worker and on paper this does not look like it would be all that good, instead this is a well developed match, with Starr bumping, selling and stooging his ass off in the opening and then working a solid control segment. You could argue that the chinlock was a bit tedious but Thompson was surprisingly adapt at working from underneath and the crowd stayed with this. They did some fun cut off spots with Chicky maintaining control, before Thompson muscles back up with the crowd going nuts for it. I loved Chicky doing the finger wag from the prone position and desperately trying to flee and then using that against Thompson with a nice looking posting as the match got tossed out. Good carry job.
November 20, 201311 yr comment_5573424 White Angel (Curtis Thompson) vs. Chicky Starr (March 1989) Fans are nuts for the White Angel here as he attacks Starr and beats him from inside to outside the ring. Thompson is really green here and can't do much but Chicky was really good for him here selling and bumping hard for him and making him look credible. Chicky was fun on offense here and we actually got double juice here which surprised me a little bit. White Angel would hit a diving clothesline to start his comeback before throwing some shitty punches and a lot of Angel's offense looked inspired by Ultimate Warrior. Chicky would hit him low before the battle went back to the floor for a double countout. This was fine but I don't know about a nomination.
December 13, 201311 yr comment_5576068 White Angel (Curtis Thompson) vs. Chicky Starr (March 1989) - Chicky was great in this. He got his ass beat all over the building and into the basketball court. He started to bleed but took control and bloodied White Angel. Chicky locked in a chin lock and had a nice cut off spot with a knee into the ribs off the ropes. White Angel came back for good after a huge clothesline that Chicky took a great bump off of. The match ended in a double count-out as both guys were brawling on the floor and Chicky posted White Angel to escape. I liked this but I think it falls short of a nomination. The match before this was clearly better I thought. I'm giving this a NO.
