This is from Anniversary 88 show, so it's out there. Really good tag match and another notch in the belt of the Battens. I'm beginning to think they are the lost team of the 80's and I've got to say the Herders never look better than they do in PR. What I liked about this was that the front end wasn't a traditional face shine, as you had the heels looking to take advantage several times but the Battens constantly combating with their speed and befuddling the heels, who would then stomp around like the goof balls they were. Eventually the speed worked against the faces and they got cut down. The FIP did not see a ton of high level heel offense, but instead it was a real shit kicking, with one of the Twins getting stomped, raked, punched, et, a lot of the time while kept at bay on the floor. Eventually the Herders airball on a headbutt off the ropes and there is a fun hot tag, leading to a disputed finish. This was just really, sound, effective stuff. It kind of straddles the line between low and solid, but the atmosphere puts it over the top to me.

WWC Tag Titles: Bart & Brad Batten © vs. Los Pastores (Butch Miller & Luke Williams) (9/10/88)

Battens are on commentary for the match with Ricky Santana and this is one of the final Pastores appearances before going to the WWF. This had some really solid back and forth action to start with both teams looking good. Battens on commentary were turning heel on Hugo which was kind of taking away from the match. Battens were very sound on offense keeping the Sheeps on their toes. Butch would have to trip a Batten from the floor to get some sort of extended advantage and the Pastores roughed them up with simple but effective offense both inside and outside the ring. Pastores were so good at doing what they did as while it wasn't particularly violent it did the job. The match starts to break down as both Battens are in the ring then the Pastores got beat down by the other brother and then we got a Batten cross body block off the top rope which took down the referee too. Butch jumps in the ring with the flagpole and used it on a Batten for what looked like the win but another referee ran out and overturned the decision calling for the DQ. Very fun tag match and I think this should move forward fairly easily.
