Posted December 29, 201311 yr comment_5577835 Will and Charles are joined by Childs Walker of the Baltimore Sun and historian Kris Zellner to give a primer on Japanese wrestling. They discuss the origins of pro wrestling in Japan and provide background on the major players, stylistic shifts and booking in the 1970s and 1980s. They also recommend matches in both the big and small Japanese promotions, discuss the rise All Japan and New Japan and much more! If you have ever wanted to explore Japanese wrestling, but you weren’t quite sure where to start or what to check out, this is the show for you. December 29, 201311 yr Author comment_5577845 Yeah, the audio issues are comical... Kris is sick, I am puffing on a pipe and it picks up every drag, Charles' phone is making a beeping sound whenever he talks and somebody was exercising during the show. Weird shit.
December 29, 201311 yr Author comment_5577848 We have Part 2 coming up later this week. Then, Johnny Sorrow, myself, my buddy Johnny P and a special guest debut a new podcast.

December 29, 201311 yr Author comment_5577856 Nice! With all the audio things, still tons of info in here and full disclaimer.. this is not a history of Japanese wrestling. There is some of that. This is more of a pimping podcast where we hype the big players, the big matches and important feuds. It really is designed to convince somebody who is apathetic or hesitant to watch puro that it is worth exploring.
January 15, 201411 yr comment_5580171 80s New Japan in general is a huge blind spot for me. The information about New Japan/UWF feud was much appreciated.
