Sources within World Wrestling Entertainment have confirmed that both Spanky and Jamie Noble (James Gibson on the independent scene) will be returning to the company. Noble was actually at WWE Headquarters Wednesday, likely discussing the terms of his return deal.

Both Spanky and Noble have worked with Ring Of Honor this year; some have actually referred to Noble as ROH's MVP of the first six months of 2005.

No terms of the deal or start date were available at press time. It is believed that both will be allowed to fulfill their independent dates before starting with WWE.

Good news from James Gibson and Spanky, bad news from Ring of Honor fans.

I think that this is really important for two reasons:

1) It shows that important people within WWE follow Ring of Honor closely enough to recognize when a guy is working hard and will give them a second chance based on it. This is potentially good news for Charlie Haas.

2) It shows that a wrestler leaving WWE on their own decision can get a second look from WWE if they leave the correct way.

I think that this is a reasonable aquistion for WWE, but I don't see either necessarily being the type of talent that would help the company the same way a Matt Morgan or a Test could have for instance, so I don't understand the resigning in the middle of a cost cutting effort. Also, these two would have surely been Velocity peformers, and with Velocity disappearing I don't know where they'll be used. Hopefully the tag team division can be strengthened big time with MNM, The Mexicools, The FBI and a reformed Spanky and Paul London.

I am really hoping that James Gibson comes back in as James Gibson, not the wrasslin' redneck. I wish they would just run an angle where Gibson, Hassan and Matt Morgan run out, say WWE forced them into gimmicks if they wanted air time, and then denounce the gimmicks and kick everyone's asses.

I'm just glad that the company is following up on their promises to Noble, as he was let go for legal reasons on the understanding that he'd be re-signed after a while.

BTW, the legal reasons were that the office had medical proof that he was injecting steroids. Because it would leave them open to prosecution by condoning the behavior of a confirmed steroid user, they had to fire him. (He'd turned in his doctor's bill for an infection he was treated for, which the doctor noted was caused by injecting drugs there.)

That was a pretty boneheaded thing for Gibson to do, I'm surprised WWE would rehire him. Don't they have their own doctors either on staff or within arm's reach that can treat these kind of *wink* *wink* *nudge* *nudge* infections?

He couldn't have been the first guy to have this happen, considering all the stories of needled asses that float around.

The problem sek wasn't the doctor, but rather Gibson tried sending the infection bill as a legitimate bill. Instead of telling the boss "hey, I need a few dollars to cover this". By mentioning it as a legitimate bill, it would be wide open on the bookkeeping of the WWE, and should that fall into the "wrong hands", WWE could've been smacked huge.

I believe the problem was when he tried to have his insurance cover it.

Anyway, I'll be happy to see them both back, although it mean their workrate will have to drop again.

Actually, I don't know if this will effect me as a fan because they're going to WWE as much as it will because they're leaving ROH. I might be done with WWE. I couldn't even finish Raw on Monday it was so bad.

The GAB sucked the like out of me. Raw poured salt in the open sores.

Isn't the James Gibson character a redneck too?

I see lots of good matches coming about from Spanky/Noble returning.

London/Spanky/Noble vs. Mexicools: Some exciting trios action on Smackdown would get the Cruiserweights over big.

London/Spanky vs. MNM: The plucky young babyfaces vs. the heel tag champs. It's solid gold.

Noble vs. Benoit/Regal: Call me crazy, but I think Noble could have an excellent match with these guys, especially after seeing him wrestle Samoa Joe in Buffalo.

All sources claim that it wasn't a cost-cutting effort. If you look at the roster of workers that were released, you see alot of dead weight and bad contracts with out clauses.

I assume they don't care about being dumped the first time around because the money is good enough. I wonder if Haas would go back though since he has said that he'd actually prefer to take time out, travel and do indies around the world than go back to the organised chaos of WWE in it's current state.

Neither of them were 'dumped' so it isn't an issue.

I thought Spanky was or at least didn't get his contract renewed, either way. I was aware of Noble/Gibson's deal was to do with his steroid use being caught... although you have to wonder why he'd go back anyway seeing as how they didn't exactly put him to much use aside from bringing in Nunzio as his cousin. What's great is the writers actually forgot that and eventually the two were fighting each other on Velocity... genius.

That sounds very strange. "Hey, I know you signed me and all but I feel I need to improve as I'm not good enough for this opportunity. Mind if I leave?" I can only imagine their initial response to that request.
