August 19, 200520 yr comment_3208180 Here's hoping for a September callup and a starting spot in RF next year.
August 19, 200520 yr comment_3209356 What's with LaRussa always leaving in Jason Marquis in so long? He had settled down, but when he started to struggle during the eighth, LaRussa kept him in there until it was clear he was done. He left runners on, but they scored, so he wound up being charged with six runs, although if LaRussa had pulled him when it would've made sense, it would've been four. As it is, it's turned into a rout. Clemens also sorta fell apart in the seventh tonight and wound up being charged with five runs, even though it looked as if he was on his way to a CG shutout the previous inning. That means the Phils are now in sole possession of the WC.
August 19, 200520 yr comment_3210170 Jesus....DFA Remlinger already. My prediction of a 2-8 road trip is looking mighty good.
August 19, 200520 yr comment_3210177 Yeah, he's been awful since joining the Sox. But in his defense, they were already down five runs before he threw a pitch.
August 19, 200520 yr comment_3210233 They seriously should just bring up Papelbon, Delcarmen, Hansen, whoever and completely revamp the middle of the pen (keeping Gonzalez in long relief and the back end of Timlin, Myers, Bradford and Schilling/Foulke). These guys could do a HELL of a lot better than any crap they pull off the waiver heap. And (Caps Lock ON) NAIL KEVIN MILLAR'S ASS TO THE GODDAMN BENCH FOR ROAD GAMES ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
August 19, 200520 yr comment_3216628 Hairston's back, which means Murton was optioned back to AAA. That's what I'd do with a guy who was hitting well over .330 in his limited playing time.
August 19, 200520 yr comment_3216817 In a stroke of marketing genius, the Cardinals are holding a raffle with the ultimate winner getting the honors of being the person to push the button to implode Busch.
August 20, 200520 yr comment_3217806 If the "new big 3" keeps pitching like this... I really, really like the Marlins chances. We're about 4 outs away from three consecutive shutouts by Willis, Beckett, Burnett.
August 20, 200520 yr comment_3217915 another great start by Jae Seo. 8 shutout innings versus the Nats. Only makes it more maddening that they kept Ishii in the rotation for 3 months while Seo was in AAA Norfolk
August 20, 200520 yr comment_3219341 The streak hits 19. With Zito going tomorrow, I can see it hitting 20. I think they can do it. I believe in you, Royals!
August 20, 200520 yr comment_3221171 another great start by Jae Seo. 8 shutout innings versus the Nats. Only makes it more maddening that they kept Ishii in the rotation for 3 months while Seo was in AAA Norfolk But Rick Peterson said that Seo wasn't ready for the major leagues! What's with LaRussa always leaving in Jason Marquis in so long? He had settled down, but when he started to struggle during the eighth, LaRussa kept him in there until it was clear he was done. As it is, it's turned into a rout. My personal theory is that Marquis is such a stubborn blockhead that LaRussa and Duncan are leaving him in to clean up his own messes. A little bit of tough love. That, or they're intentionally driving down his stats for arbitration later this year.
August 20, 200520 yr comment_3223106 Schilling will return to the starting rotation this week. His first start back will come against the Royals. I'm sure they're thrilled.
August 20, 200520 yr comment_3223203 nice to see the White Sox absolutely laying down for the Yankees this weekend. I wonder what Hawk Harrelson's excuse will be?
August 20, 200520 yr comment_3223266 They're just preserving energy so they can pounce the A's come October.
August 21, 200520 yr comment_3225440 Tonight's a perfect example as to why the Cubs should just shut Wood down. They aren't going anywhere this season. Even for them, they swung at an insane amount of first pitches, including Patterson who saw I believe five pitches in four at-bats tonight. They had the bags full with one out in the 8th and like clockwork, Perez popped out and Patterson grounded out on the first pitch. The real kicker is that Nomar was available to PH, so why he didn't PH for Neifi is beyond me. Actually, it's not. And Patterson had me fooled his first week back, but it's clear nothing's changed.
August 21, 200520 yr comment_3225862 Royals scrape out a 2-1 victory, thus proving they don't even know how to be the best at losing. Jackasses.
August 22, 200520 yr comment_3232979 Hey guys, don't look now but the D-Rays have the 3rd best record in all of baseball since the All-Star break. Also consider that their two best players are in AAA right now (BJ Upton and Delmon Young) and their "star" is out for the year with an injury (Baldelli). I'm telling you, if they signed one marquee pitcher they could put together a flash in the pan season next year.

I'm skeptical.
