Posted February 12, 201411 yr comment_5587551 Ted DiBiase vs. Big John Studd (2/22/81) DiBiase is the Missouri champ here and Studd wanted a match with him to get a shot. DiBiase keeps Studd grounded early but Studd uses his power advantage to work over Ted. DiBiase was also being groomed as the "uncrowned NWA champ" here so Studd is definitely wanting a win and tries to choke him out at one point to achieve that goal. DiBiase fights back though and gets some nearfalls on Studd before almost nuking his shoulder missing a running smash into the ringpost. Studd then works the King of the Mountain spots keeping DiBiase from entering the ring just pounding on him but DiBiase grabs his leg and pulls him under the rope. DiBiase then wraps the right leg around the post and he comes back in teeing off on him. DiBiase is now gearing up for the figure-four and tries it but Studd kicks him right out of the ring. Studd then goes to the floor after him and they brawl to a double countout. Then we get a promo from Studd afterwards. This was a very fun match even with the shitty finish and I'm throwing it on the block as a low-end nomination. Then we get clips of The Kelly Twins vs. Bob & Kerry Brown which served as Bob's babyface turn. Bulldog Bob Brown vs. Pat Kelly (2/22/81) This went to a 15:00 draw and wasn't very good. Akio Sato vs. Max Blue (11/9/80) Sato is the rare case of a Japanese guy working babyface in the United States in this era. This was a technical match to start but Blue starts getting aggressive but Sato would fight back and would get the win. Jesse Barr & Dick the Bruiser vs. Mike George & Buzz Tyler (11/9/80) Wow this is quite the match....Barr is a green as hell rookie while Mike George has a black eye and Buzz Tyler is very fat. This was basically to showcase Bruiser as a crazy old dude and as a teacher for the young Barr facing the tough heels. This may have not have been a good match but it was pretty fun especially when Bruiser broke Buzz's nose bashing his head on the ringside table. Ken Patera vs. Tommy Sharp (11/9/80) Easy win for Patera. Then we get clips of Bruiser winning a battle royal. Bruiser Brody & Ken Patera vs. Rocky Johnson & Pat O'Connor (5/4/80) Brody & Patera make for a fun heel team and their opponents are pretty good as well. The action here was fairly strong and I liked the seeds being planted for a Brody babyface turn as he had issues with Patera at times. Brody cuts a promo afterwards saying that he needs no friends or help. The match went to a 20:00 draw and I liked everything here enough for a low-end nomination. Mike & Pat Kelly vs. Art Crews & Tommy Sharp (1/11/81) Competitive match. Big John Studd vs. Kerry Brown (1/11/81) Kerry gives Studd a fight but he falls in the end although he slams Studd very easily which was hilarious. Studd then cuts a promo on Kevin Von Erich afterwards. Bruce Reed & Jerry Roberts vs. Tiny Anderson & Bulldog Bob Brown (1/11/81) Yep that is the future Hacksaw Butch Reed & Jacques Rougeau. The young faces look good here as the heels have their issues and Bulldog turns on his partner as the fans go crazy.
