February 21, 201411 yr comment_5589406 Wow, this thread went to grasping at straws (and sarcasm) really fast. Anyway, Godfather is an interesting case just because he was such an over opening act who only got a title thanks to Vince Russo's change-the-title -philia. Val Venis was pushed way harder than Godfather, probably by virtue of being a much better worker, but I don't think Venis had half the charisma of Godfather during that era. He was a really over worker, not that they should have done more with him per se but because guys who were less capable (Al Snow and Val Venis, who both had shit charisma) got pushed harder. Godfather's push, despite being very brief, was really a step above Bull Buchanan's (who was really good in his own right). Jeff Jarrett as country music star did fine. Honky Tonk Man was a major overachiever.
February 21, 201411 yr comment_5589429 is being a member of the black panthers a job? Don't think you get paid for it.
February 21, 201411 yr Author comment_5589438 How did Dibiase come into his fortune? I'm guessing ponzi scheme or government bailout. is being a member of the black panthers a job? Member? No. But I'm sure they had plenty of paid staff.
February 22, 201411 yr comment_5589583 Back to the grasping at straws again.... Jushin Liger is based off a Japanese comic book superhero, so does that count? Those masked guys who wore mostly black, did martial artsy-stuff and flippy stuff, could they be considered ninjas? I'm looking at Sasuke and Octagon, but not sure if there have been more.
February 22, 201411 yr comment_5589643 Triple H: professional cunt. Shame he went pro before having a chance to win gold at the cunt Olympics.
February 22, 201411 yr comment_5589667 Who was a member of the Black Panthers. To my knowledge no one in wrestling has worked a David Hilliard gimmick, let alone a Huey P. gimmick
February 22, 201411 yr comment_5589672 He may be talking about the Nation of Domination . It's the only thing that comes close.
February 22, 201411 yr comment_5589683 Mr. McMahon. Big Bossman was the first thing I thought of when I saw this thread, but Mr. McMahon is a really good answer too that I didn't immediately think of? Should he count? After reading stories about Rico's time as a cop they should have run with a "out of control ex-cop" gimmick for him.
February 22, 201411 yr comment_5589686 Didn't Mark Henry at one point have a world's strongest man gimmick going? Made sense, given he kinda looked like those guys lifting up Volkswagens on ESPN2 reruns. Would that be considered a job?
February 22, 201411 yr comment_5589690 Henry was the World's Strongest Man, he won a bunch of competitions
February 22, 201411 yr comment_5589691 In the AWA DDP was portrayed as owning a diamond mine in South Africa. That had to be worth a lot of money.
February 22, 201411 yr comment_5589693 So Henry actually had a gimmick completely in line with his previous job then.
February 22, 201411 yr comment_5589703 Fray Tormenta for someone combining actual job with wrestling career?
February 23, 201411 yr comment_5589768 Does being a rapper count as a profession? If so you could add John Cena during his rapper days. I will admit I kind of dug it despite not liking rap or hip hop music.
February 23, 201411 yr comment_5589776 In a way, it's strange that Repo Man never stole the show. Win. You could add a few if you counted professional football player as a job. Bronko Nagurski, Leo Nomellini, Wahoo McDaniel.
February 24, 201411 yr comment_5589858 Charles Bronson Mexicano Either a professional impersonator or the occupation that is Charles Bronson.
February 24, 201411 yr comment_5590088 Ken Shamrock and Tank Abbot had gimmicks that matched their previous job also.
March 12, 201411 yr comment_5593692 Mr. McMahon. My first thought when I saw the title of this thread. And it also goes with the "gimmicks based on their day jobs" classification as well. I like the Sgt Slaughter example.
March 13, 201411 yr comment_5594162 No The Mountie reference? Yokozuna (sumo wrestler) Godwins (Pig farmers) Prince Albert (profession piercer) Rick "The Model" Martel?
