I guess part of the value of the 6-month commitment is they'll have a long buffer if Mania is a semi-disaster. People won't just be able to cancel the next day.

People can still ask for refunds and what not.

They've added several Boston Garden shows and a Houston show from October '86, but they have mostly been one hour versions. Still no clue what the purpose of those cut downs are.

Maybe because most of those old MSG, Philly, Boston monthly shows had a LOT of boring, nothing, matches.

I think some of it is that they want to fit something an hour long into the schedule.

The Network edited off: Jose Luis Rivera vs. Tiger Jeet Singh, Tony Parisi vs. Ron Shaw, Haku vs. Terry Gibbs, and Tony Atlas/Ivan Putzki vs. The Hart Foundation. Sounds like we missed nothing.

Let’s see what the Network edited off: Tama vs. Frenchy Martin, Koko B. Ware vs. The Red Demon, Haku vs. Terry Gibbs and King Kong Bundy vs. Pete Doherty…total crap and they still drew 16,000 fans! Go Bruno!

and so on....

So are there any real chances of things going smoothly for Wrestlemania? It seems people are still having problems with the live stream and at this point I don't know if WWE can do anything to avoid problems even if they have a good estimate of how many people will watch Mania live.

As far as I can tell, there are three main reasons internet broadcasts go wrong: the stream being able to cope with demand, the site struggling with logins, and the actual feed from the building going down.

Demand shouldn't be an issue as WWE are in the fortunate and rare position of knowing almost exactly how many people will be watching: cancel out the few subscribers who don't watch live (eg Europeans who have to be up early) and the few who stream on two devices for whatever reason, and for this show at least the number watching should be almost identical to the total number of subscribers. Armed with that knowledge, a pro set up like MLB should be able to cope.

The actual log-in process would be the main concern, I'd have thought. It likely helps a lot that they have a two-hour preview show, which should reduce the numbers logging in at any precise moment and the chances of a virtual stampede at 7pm.

The feed itself should be fine because they aren't plugging a camera into a laptop that's tethering somebody's cellphone or whatever the hell some indy promotions do. Then again, you are relying on the power supply at the SuperDome...

Both from the Spectrum, and from the looks of the '78 card more edits. I know they started having cards from MSG on TV in '73, but when did they start doing that in Philly and Boston?

Boston was late '85.

Philly was '77-'78 I think?

LA was '88.

The 88 edit is annoying.

We lose Horowitz vs Blazer and Tito vs Haku. Hell, I'd even be up for Bass vs Poffo and face Powers of Pain.

So Toronto would have been '84? And how long did that last up to?

Toronto (as well as Hamilton and London) never got full shows, just select matches as Canadian content for the Canadian syndicated shows. Plus airing on the recap shows and in international syndication. They ended around the same time as MSG, late '91-early '92.

Oh, plus the Sam Houston Coliseum was only '87, in a similar context to the Canadian shows: It was shot to include select matches on "Houston Wrestling."

Also there were a number of house shows taped only for the recap shows and home video: Stuff from Detroit, the Summit in Houston, and more. Capital Centre, Nassau Coliseum, and the Meadowlands were taped at times under varying circumstances (recap shows/home video, one offs on USA Network, and for Nassau/Meadowlands only, one offs on MSG Network when MSG was being renovated).

Thanks for the info on the Houston stuff. I was living in Houston at the time. I remember the show on KHTV 39. Though everything else is foggy. I assume they weren't airing the main events though.

I can confirm this. We in Ottawa generally had access to Superstars/Wrestling Challenge, plus there was a channel in Kingston that had a show hosted by Billy Red Lyons that had a mix of Superstars and Challenge matches for about the first 30-40 minutes, with the "main event" being a MLG match.

Does anybody know if Wrestlemania will be available on the Network immediately after it concludes on Sunday? Or will they show it live, then pull it off to boost DVD sales?

Also, anyone know if we are able to watch from the beginning if we tune in late?

ANYTHING THAT AIRS ON THE NETWORK WILL BE AVAILABLE ON DEMAND ON THE NETWORK AS SOON AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE. This question has been asked and answered everywhere for weeks.

More or less, yes. How long has it taken for past live shows to show up? That long.
