July 31, 20178 yr comment_5809179 I believe that was the theme song from the cartoon as well. As well as the theme from the audio cassette tape I received with my Hulk Hogan workout kit I got as a kid.
July 31, 20178 yr comment_5809204 If it was intended for Windham and Rotundo, shouldn't the lyric be "We are real Americans"? FWIW on the Wrestling Album, they straight out say it is for Windham and Rotundo. Poor lyric writing...Derringer should have stayed buried!
August 1, 20178 yr comment_5809265 On WCCW 123 on the network they show the majority of the LLT Cage match between Kerry and Michael Hayes from 11/24/83. You can make an argument for this being the greatest booked blowoff match to a feud ever. Watching the bookends of the start with Kerry vs Fair from Christmas 82 to the LLT is just wow. Hopefully the whole match will pop up.
August 1, 20178 yr comment_5809324 Another solid Bring It To The Table. (Am I the only one here watching that?) The stuff about Enzo being thrown off the bus and having heat was confirmed. JBL admitted that everyone who was in past situations like that - with the exception of The Miz - "never made it." What a shame if one of their most charismatic personalities and talkers ends up future endeavored in a year. Cass is never going to be a top guy, no matter what, so splitting them up was such a big mistake.

When they came in they were immediately entered into the tag tournament and didnt even win it because all WWE wanted to do was push Gotch/English.

Yea you're definitely not remembering all of the circumstances there.
August 2, 20178 yr comment_5809480 On the newest spotlight they didn't mention the Hidden Gems for the month. It could mean nothing, but the last 2 times they were doing it we got a glimpse of what to expect on the hidden gems.

August 4, 20178 yr comment_5809668 Not exciting really, but they are showing some PWF and UPW. The lack of anything before 1984 is a huge head-scratcher, though. But yeah, hard pass in general for these "gems".
August 4, 20178 yr comment_5809696 Speaking of Hidden Gems, I was watching the Joe Blanchard/Bob Ellis/Duke Keomuka vs Bob Geigel/Gary Hart/Waldo Von Erich match last night. It was surreal hearing Bill Mercer calling a match in 1966 taking place in a Sportatorium that didn't look like a dump.
August 4, 20178 yr comment_5809707 They seem to be determined to finish wwe ecw this month and have added a lot of world class and a few WWF House shows from the spectrum.
August 5, 20178 yr comment_5809710 I'm interested in how much WCCW they were able to salvage, there's already way more available than I was expecting from the early days. Either it wasn't in as bad a shape as we heard or WWE's digital team are wizards.
August 5, 20178 yr comment_5809717 Either it wasn't in as bad a shape as we heard or WWE's digital team are wizards. Probably the former. When it comes to VHS there's not really a whole lot upgrading you can do, as opposed to film.

It took place at the Dallas Memorial Auditorium, not the Sportatorium, that's why it looks so nice.
August 5, 20178 yr comment_5809737 So what was the deal with the Abraham Washington Show? I've been watching the excellent 2009 ECW for the first time since it aired. These segments were so bizarre. They were horribly bad but not in a typical WWE-way. Was this a rib on somebody? Vince trying to make some kind of point about late night talk shows? I have no idea and I've never heard anyone talk about it. Tony Atlas was tremendous though!

When it comes to VHS there's not really a whole lot upgrading you can do, as opposed to film. True--but, for the quality we've seen from '80s WCCW so far, and pretty much everything else except Georgia, I would imagine it was stored on a professional standard tape like "Type C" rather than VHS. Their Georgia footage looks like home-recorded vintage VHS. In fact, the few bits we've seen actually look just like the most well-known circulating Georgia set in the trading/torrenting scene, as I recall.
August 5, 20178 yr comment_5809750 It seems they added more old school WWF stuff. There are a load of 1986 and 1988 stuff put up last night including two from the LA sports arena in 1988.
August 5, 20178 yr comment_5809751 It'd be great if they added another live stream, of just old, pre-Monday Night War stuff going 24/7. Another couple years of dumps like we've seen lately, it could be more than feasible to do.
August 5, 20178 yr comment_5809752 Also 12 minutes into the August 88 LA sports arena show and superstar billy graham is on a brother rampage. If it was a drinking game you'd be twisted. He's called gorilla monsoon as "brother gorilla monsoon brother gorilla" in a few seconds.

August 5, 20178 yr comment_5809756 Watching the 8-21-82 episode of WCCW. There's a Bundy/Race match that's fairly interesting. I really enjoy watching young Bundy work and Race just beats the shit out of him. EDIT: Fuck yeah, this match rules.
August 5, 20178 yr comment_5809758 Are there any other Race/Bundy matches out there? That ending was disappointing and I want more.
August 5, 20178 yr comment_5809762 Is there any footage of the Flair/Von Erich match from the 8/15/82 Star Wars show?
