That show dragged , and was full of long clips.

I feel like it's weird that when they show the clips, they return and they're talking about a completely different topic. To me, the clip should interrupt them in the middle of the topic instead of being shown at the end. No bumper conversation is strange.

I do agree that they may have spent too much time talking about Twitter. However, it really has revolutionized the way we watch television not just wrestling, but especially live events like raw.

 

Whether I'm watching NXT, Game of Thrones, Doctor Who, or UFC, I can interact real-time with fans around the world. And the producer of the show gets immediate feedback.

 

It was a game-changer in wrestling on the level of the rise of the internet itself.

Speaking of twitter: I've been tweeting and following #WWENetwork as I watch programming the last few days. I haven't counted, but it feels like a good number of young women tweeting that hashtag.

 

Maybe that observation simply says something about the bulk of who tweets. But I like to think it may be anecdotal evidence of WWE having a broader audience these days than it has over the last 10 years.

I really hope that the new acquisition is the WWC library. There are a lot of gems to be discovered there. Would love to see the full Dory/Flair vs. Abby/Carlos match.

Though I'd not mind if it was Memphis and they decided to do episodic uploads of the shows.

 

I don't know if anybody else seems to have the same problem that I have with Apple TV. When they upload any new shows, if they happened during a year that wasn't on the selection choices from the start, they don't seem to show up. I.e., I get all the WCCW no problem, but I can't get the 1999 roundtables, or the 1985 and 1986 Old School shows. However the 98 roudtables or 1991 Old School shows that have been added recently are showing up as soon as they are in.

 

Not a major problem for me though as I can use my iPad (which has got all the shows apparently) to sync the screen with Apple TV. But it's an odd one.

We have the same problem with the Roku. I know this stuff should get fixed, but it's annoying. I just wish their was communication like we are aware of this issue, this issue etc. instead of a total lack of communication. Maybe I'm expecting too much from them.

I am going through 1993 WCW myself. SuperBrawl was awesome and I love that I can finally see these shows in entirety, instead of the Turner home versions.

Watching Mania 1, though I have paused because I wanna check out this Total Deevers show in a few minutes.

 

It's funny to see them struggling with dialogue and presentation - especially the bits where Lord Alfred is trying to speak from the Gorilla Position as wrestlers are coming in and out of the locker room. Steamboat/Borne was a decent match, as was Valentine/JYD -- though a weird ending.

 

The Iron Shiek tag was about to start when I paused it.

One thing to keep in mind about WWC, they also had an English language version of the show that aired in certain English speaking markets/countries. Places like the Virgin Islands, Bahamas, New York and others. I do wonder what exactly is there and in what condition. I've heard varying stories regarding the videotape library.

For how long? I know they did circa '87-'88.

Also, could it possibly be better than Zeb on commentary?

There's an interview Hugo Savinovich did for the PRWrestling website where he talks about his transition from manager to show host. Hugo mentions that he was already doing the English language version of the show when Rickin Sanchez parted ways with Capitol Sports. Hugo was then told that he was now in charge of the Spanish version hosting duties. This would have been in 1984, so at least from that point there's been an English version.

 

It's also very likely that it goes back before 84, remember that Trinidad was one of the places they would run cards (for example, the Colon/Abdullah match from Trinidad that's on video is likely from 1981) and the language spoken there is English.

 

And I would add 1989 to the year range, there's episodes hosted by Ric St. James and Rip Rogers that are most likely from 89 {that's when Rogers had his extended run).

Is WWC currently doing anything with their library? I honestly have no idea. So this is just a guess. Maybe they just figure let the WWE buy it and use it since they have no intentions or the proper resources to do anything with it. Plus they get a nice check and some recognition for Carlos from the HOF out of the deal.

Flair, Duggan, Dusty, Hogan, Bret, Jake, Piper, etc. Not a huge amount of overlap.

 

Also, is Colon's induction worth the seven figures it would likely take to buy the library?

Actually, they've used WWC footage with their permission before. The Colon's were featured on the Greatest Wrestling Families DVD and there was WWC footage from the early 2000's on the documentary.

I could see them using footage in a "here's some guys working in a place you probably never saw them in" type of deal, but a lot of the best WWC stuff isn't exactly WWE 2014 PG Rated Friendly.

Same issue here (Roku). I had to watch the Texas episode of Legends of Wrestling (2009) by going through the Schedule section.

 

As for that show: Unlike the Raw episode, which felt too long for its own good, this one maybe could have used the added minutes. It seemed a bit disorganized and free-wheeling, which is not always a bad thing, but there was barely any time for any real analysis. It also felt really rushed - e.g. Hayes admitting near the end of the show that they had neglected to mention Blackjack Mulligan, and then another panelist (J.R. maybe?) getting Skandar Akbar in right as the show was about to end. The promoters and Von Erichs got a few minutes devoted to each of them, but there wasn't much time for anything else. A lot of cursory mentions (Ernie Ladd, Gino Hernandez, etc.) but not much depth.

 

BTW, I found it weird that Barry Windham, Dustin Rhodes, and other Texans of that time period were skipped over. They seemed to go right from the era of the Funks and Von Erichs to Stone Cold, completely ignoring the entire generation in-between. Maybe I'm being too nitpicky though. As I said in my last post about the Raw roundtable, I may be burned out after watching too many of these in a row over the past couple of weeks.

 

Bill Watts was on this panel for some reason, but I actually thought he did a pretty decent job. "I cried for four days after Ernie Ladd died."

 

CS, I have to agree I could have watched this one for another hour. Perhaps my favorite panel of all the ones I have seen -- and I think I have seen them all.

 

Not too much self-serving here compared to some of the rest of the shows. I thought Dusty was fairly humble when they were all praising him to the sky.

FWIW, the live feed is showing Bash At The Beach '94 in an hour, which makes it the first WCW event to be shown on it.

No. Some company called JADAT Sports owns it. They released a DVD a year or so again with a real lackluster effort. Not recommended unless you're a big SWCW fan. I saw that another DVD is being released soon if not already. I'm not very hyped after that last release.

I remember a bunch of it ended up on Wrestling Gold. How far back does the library go?
