I only just now confirmed that all the members of the Bouricuas were actually Peurto Rico. Even at the time as a kid, I figured it was only a 50/50 chance that all those guys were actually from Puerto Rico

Not only that, they've done a reunion of sorts with Savio, Miguel Perez, and Huracan Castillo in WWC this summer.

Noticed my Network sub had expired on Sunday and I was really looking forward to Takeover and the next Cena-Lesnar match, plus enjoying old Raws. Currently in two minds about whether to go all in on another six month commitment or wait to see what the UK version is like (price and content wise). I've heard the UK version might have less content (at least, not the PPVs given the deal with Sky) but I don't know if that was sourced from someone in the know or just presumption.

For me, I watch a lot on my laptop anyway so having a U.S. sub would likely be cheaper, but if I want to get the app through my PS3, I have to also sub to Unblock_US, and the total is closer to £10 anyway and I could drop all the VPN things I've got installed. Still, Unblock_US would mean I could try U.S. Netflix... Hmm.

Had an idea for a very cheap way to add "fresh" programming. On the WWE History DVD, they have an extra of Hogan-Andre from Silverdome but it's entirely from the hard camera and with no commentary, so it's the same effect as watching it in person. I very much enjoyed watching it this way just for the novelty and the different take on a match you've seen dozens of times and become familiar with the camera shots and commentary lines. I'd love to see them do a series of this with other famous WWE matches.

Aren't they already doing that on Wrestlemania Rewind? (Re-editing legendary matches with different camera shots and angles)

IIRC, the Owen-Bret match on WrestleMania rewind had a few different angles (including the overhead shots from the 'ladder cam'), but nothing majorly different. They had a "film version" of the first Rock-Cena on their DVD as well with different angles.

 

Hogan-Andre was different though as it was one static angle. It was fascinating to see how it looked to the crowd, though the lengthy bearhug is really really really long when you don't have camera cuts or Ventura talking to break it up.

Don't get the network, did they do the Greatest GMs countdown last night? Wiki says Mick Foley was #1. Glad it wasn't Vickie. In a kayfabe sense, someone who played an incompetent/bitchy character for her whole run should not be tops.

I went ahead and re-upped for another six months, even though my interest in the current WWE product is virtually non-existent at this point. The Nitros were the big hook for me, since I totally missed out on the first year or so of these back in the day.

 

I'm still holding out hope that we'll get some of the Saturday Nights and the other satellite shows as well but, for now, going through the Nitros has been a blast. The "anti-heel" booking for Luger, in particular, has been really interesting to watch percolate through 1995.

I subscribed the day of Wrestlemania, April 6. So when I renew for six months that would cover the Rumble, Survivor Series and Wrestlemania XXXI. At that point I'll decide whether or not to continue. To get those three shows in one shot is too good to pass up.

Wonder what this means for the network.

Everyone seems to be reacting like WWE is giving up on the network, but if you actually read the story it seems like WWE is just looking for a new company to maintain their library.

And a more reliable home video partner, if I were to guess. WB is no stranger to distributing home video from outside companies.

Warner Bros does distribution with NFL Home Video so maybe WWE might be looking for them to get better distribution. I don't think this put an impact on the WWE Network. They've spent to much money too give it up on it now.

I thought I read somewhere that only 25-30% of the WWE Library is digitized and ready for distribution on the Network. WWE doesn't have the manpower to make the process any more efficient than it currently is, I'm guessing. Partnering with a large multimedia company (who does a great job digitizing and distributing everything from MGM Classic movies to NFL Films productions) seems smart in my opinion.

I don't think the digitizing of footage is the problem with the WWE. It's fairly easy to digitize footage. The problem is that they edit the shows so much in terms of dubbing over copyrighted music, editing out words in promos or promos all together, sweeting the crowd, etc. Thats why not a lot of stuff is not on the Network and on Home Video. That type of stuff needs to be approved by several people before the public see it.

Pretty sure it doesn't work that way. Just because they edit something doesn't mean it's permanent, they still keep the original masters.

Yea, WWE has the original masters so that is an easy fix. But the music issue might be the biggest one cause I doubt the older promotions recorded their shows with seperate audio channels.
