September 3, 200520 yr comment_3342833 Fuck me, I want all of this. I'm completely overwhelmed as well.
September 4, 200520 yr Author comment_3343385 Ok a few notes.... TBS from 86 I think we have. If one of you caould check the dates, that would be great. Even so, the VQ isnt Palladino perfect so I may just get the Palladino set. For the WWF taping, the VQ could also be found better elsewhere I am sure. I'll check with Dan before I tape that one. The IWC is hit or miss VQ but has some neat matchups. The Vintage Memphis and Lawler comps are near perfect VQ and are about an hour each. For the Mid South... Tim, we def. need to pick up these house shows even if they are on the Barnett set. I think the Barnett DVDs are 2nd gen because he amy have purchased the set then made the comps (decreasing the vq) and then burned the DVDs. There is some graininess on the 2nd show but there are no tracking issues like found on the Barnett set and no color blurring either. This gets me real excited for the bulk buy. I have not inspected all of the Memphis tv or Mid South tv but it reenforces something I have maintained all along... you do not have to settle for McAdam VQ. I discussed this with Dan and he said it was a shame that McAdam had all of this wrestling but had piss poor VQ. He said almost everything he ahs from McAdam he has found elsewhere in better VQ. That is a very PROMISING sign. Since the 1 hour tapes counter the 6 hour tapes, I can have this done and mailed back to Dan by this Friday and await the next order which will be whatever remaining Palladino NWA tv he has. Then after that, it's all good in the hood... whatever you guys suggest.
September 5, 200520 yr Author comment_3351650 I have taped a couple of Memphis tapes and inspected several Memphis and ICW shows and it is all watchable. Some is absolutely beautiful. Other shows are grainy from tape disintegration but there is little to no jumpiness or static interference. I may have to just tape all of Dan's Memphis. For the Mid South on tape 3714, I will probably not convert this since Dan said he is going to have all of the Mid-South / UWF tv soon in mint condition and this looks 3rd gen in quality even though it may be 1st gen or whatever. I am going to convert the Power Pro set however. So far, so good.
September 5, 200520 yr Author comment_3358029 4120. Warb #1526 Memphis Arena/ICW 1984 1st gen I am in the process of converting this tape now and there are some neat matchups on this one. Savage & Poffo vs. RNR's Savage v. Lawler in a cage Savage v. Adrian Street Fabulous Ones vs. PYTs It's mainly arena footage with television matches mixed in.
September 6, 200520 yr Author comment_3361261 Ongoing list of how the tapes break down into DVDs: Memphis 3/22 ? 4/12/86 (3 discs) (3 individual shows per disc. One episode is missing here since the tape is only 4 1/2 hours long. The first show is missing the first match because of some bad tracking issues). Memphis 4/28 ? 6/16/84 (3 discs) This is divided up by time on the tape and not individual shows. Mid South House Shows #49 and 84 (1 disc) Mentioned above. Vintage Memphis Vol. #3 (1 disc) About an hour and 20 minutes which I justified to give it its own disc. Vintage Memphis Vol #1 and Jerry Lawler's Mega Matches (1 disc) Each show is 1 hour long so it fits perfectly on the DVD. Jerry Lawler Commercial Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 (1 disc) Again, each one is one hour long and fits on one disc. Memphis Arena/ICW 1984 (3 discs) This is divided up by time on the tape since it does not appear to be individual shows. UWF Power Pro 5/3 - 5/24/86 (3 discs) This is divided with two shows per disc. Although the third disc extends to 2:08 which may mean that the commercials were edited out and three shows were included but I don't know. They may have an overrun on them as well. The first disc has commercials included. Something to look out for... 90210's Ian Zhering in a McDonalds commercial. I had to do a double take when I saw it. It's him Jumbo-Tenryu Comp (1 disc) This contains the following matches between the two... 4-16-82; 8-31-87; 10-3-87; 10-28-88. It will not copy so I need a replacement from Dan. redwood Memphis 11/10 ? 12/1/84 (2 discs) This is about 2:40 of Memphis. the VQ is good but is very grainy. there are npo tracking issues that I am aware of. There is some Southeastern Wrestling tacked on at the end in Fair quality that I may create a disc of because of who is featured on there such as a very young Arn Anderson. 3716. redwood ICW 6/23 ? 7/27/85 (3 discs) This isn't the Savage-Poffo ICw but a show hosted by Gordon Solie. It features Carlos Colon, Eric Embry and others. The VQ is fair-good but all watchable. It looks like a 2nd-3rd generation. 935. Warb #1624 Memphis/TBS/WWF 3/1 ? 3/2/86 - I only taped the Emmphis show from this tape. Unfortunately, there is a tracking issue at the bottom of the tape for a long duration. It doesn't detract from the matches or the interviews but is annoying. The rest of the shows are omitted because we either have them or Dan has no use for them.
September 7, 200520 yr Author comment_3369456 Loss, are you in Jersey already? I thought you had a job waiting for you when you arrived? Either way, good luck in your move Also, updated!!!
September 7, 200520 yr comment_3372658 No job waiting for me, but there are possibilities. I have some money saved up where I can still do some stuff, but I have to pick my spots carefully.
September 9, 200520 yr Author comment_3385184 I decided against recording tape #3715. It turns out it is not the Poffo promotion ICW but an independent promotion from the Northeast known as the IWC. Nothing on the tape excited me enough to spend 6 hours making the tape and then another 2 hours making copies. So, unless someone specifically requests it or Dan wants me to convert it (which I doubt) then this tape will not be converted.
September 9, 200520 yr comment_3385368 Is it the International Wrestling Cartel? If so, thats a fed from around here I might be interested in.
September 9, 200520 yr Author comment_3385475 No, unless it was running shows in 1985 and was hosted by Gordon Solie.
