June 5, 201411 yr comment_5605891 neat! the title made me think this would be about Green Lantern Fan & Hat Guy lol David Arquette obviously fits in here. he was a fan and didn't want the WCW title since he knew the fans would shit on it, and IIRC he ended up donating his money from that run to Droz & the Pillman family i remember some big wrestler saying that Burt Reynolds was the most excited to be there out of all the Wrestlemania celebrities... it feels like there are a lot more celebrities who are openly wrestling fans nowadays. like even during the attitude era it seemed like a lot of people were hiding it; i remember hearing how huge the Rock was with pro athletes since he was saying the stuff they wished they could on interviews, but not a lot of people mentioned it themselves.
June 11, 201411 yr Author comment_5606690 I'd really like to see Lawler on Letterman before Dave retires. I'm surprised they didn't try and get him after his recovery.
July 8, 201411 yr Author comment_5611589 Darius Rucker (or Hootie for some of us still stuck in the 90's) just asked his fans on Twitter who was the greatest wrestler who never held the world championship.
July 8, 201411 yr comment_5611676 Luke Perry was on Bill Simmons podcast maybe a year and a half ago and went into like a 30 minute side conversation about how he was driving by some gymnasium one night in the 70s and the doors opened and he saw a glimpse of Kevin Sullivan beating the shit out of someone and was hooked on it ever sense. Robert Kelly talks about wrestling on his podcast all the time.
July 8, 201411 yr comment_5611678 Billy Idol was a WON subscriber for years. Not sure if he still is.
July 9, 201411 yr comment_5611720 Gillian Jacobs from the Community is a regular at PWG shows. That kind of makes up for her being on such a terrible show.
July 22, 201411 yr comment_5614038 Community? I think it's slightly overrated but it's really really funny and can deliver heart when it wants.
July 22, 201411 yr comment_5614056 There was always a lot of Premier League footballers at Raw tapings around 10 or so years ago. They're considerably less famous now though.
July 22, 201411 yr comment_5614074 Shaq comes to my mind as a big celebrity that watches wrestling but I saw this the other day going through twitter. Didn't know Clark Duke from Hot Tub Time Machine was fan. http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/0584b56efb/night-night-with-ron-funches-ep-1 Are PWG shows more trendy to watch out in Cali? I've starting watching shows from this year and I see a lot more women than a usual Indy show.
July 22, 201411 yr comment_5614096 Indy wrestling has a certain hipster appeal, from what I hear PWG definitely gets some of that crowd. Aside from disappointed girlfriends, I've seen more attractive women than I'd expect at AAW and Chikara here in Chicago, but they usually fall into the hipster trendy category.
July 22, 201411 yr comment_5614151 Andy Richter was an Observer subscriber and used to read the issues during rehearsals on Late Night with Conan. Don't know if he's still a fan
July 22, 201411 yr comment_5614153 Billy Corgan. The biggest celebrity mark of them all. Lyrics possibly inspired by Raven.
July 23, 201411 yr comment_5614218 Community? I think it's slightly overrated but it's really really funny and can deliver heart when it wants. Yep, never found a show as dreadfully unfunny as that one.
July 23, 201411 yr comment_5614229 I think the show is overrated and tries too hard with the parodies and homages, but when it wants to be, it can be really funny. It also has a tremendous cast.
July 23, 201411 yr comment_5614230 I agree on most of the cast, but I'm not a big Chase fan, and outside of her CBB appearances Gillian Jacobs doesn't do much for me. I know plenty of people who love the show, but every time I try and watch it I get really bored, just not for me I guess.
July 23, 201411 yr comment_5614246 I love Chevy Chase on Community. It's a shame it didn't work out, but I thought he was great. But I'm one of the few people on the planet who find Chevy Chase funny
July 26, 201411 yr Author comment_5614862 Jack Nicholson's IMDB bio says he's a fan but I think that could be bullshit.
July 27, 201411 yr comment_5615195 PWG tends to be a cool hang for Hollywood & TV producers and actors. To the point there's too many to list. Chris Bauer, from True Blood wore a Drake Younger shirt at the San Diego Comic Con this weekend:
July 27, 201411 yr comment_5615284 Gabriel Iglesias is someone I have had conversations with on wrestling. I want to say there were more than a few country singer wcw fans.
July 28, 201411 yr comment_5615420 I think in general, we're going to see an upswing in "celebrity" fans as a whole bunch of people in their early and mid 30's become more well known, whether it's running a TV show, an actor, or whatever, because they grew up as teenagers during the wrestling boom.
